This 200-hour Teacher Training course is designed for all levels of yogis who want to get better at their practice or learn more about yoga, as well as for those who want to teach yoga to others and who would like to take another 200-hour teacher training.

No matter where you are in your practice, the best time to move forward is now. This course gives a strong foundation to build your self-practice. At the end of the course, you will develop the skills, tools, and confidence to teach Vinyasa Flow classes.

You will teach your fellow students from week one, the first one to one, then in small groups and later to half of the group. You will give and receive constructive feedback throughout the course for your teaching. You will practice primarily Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow Yoga, and some afternoons Yin and Restorative yoga to balance the body. By the end of the course, you will be able to teach and create your own Vinyasa sequences, self-practice the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series by yourself.

Andriana Corfu is an apartment complex located on Corfu, one of the most iconic Greek islands, sometimes called the Monaco of Greece. The unique mythical heritage, traditional charm, lush landscapes, breath-taking beaches, and emerald seas make it one of the most glamorous and sought-after destinations in Greece.

Andriana is nestled within beautifully maintained tropical gardens just 100 meters away from golden beaches and the Ionian Sea. Students can spend their free time lounging in a breezy hammock, loungers, enjoy access to the neighboring hotel's pool or hit the beach. The nearby beach of Aghios Georgios is sandy, long and crystal clear. Further down, only 15 of walking, you can visit the famous beach from James Bond's movie "For your eyes only".

Andriana Corfu offers single, shared twin, and shared triple accommodation options.

You will teach your fellow students, giving and receiving constructive feedback throughout the course. You will practice primarily Vinyasa and Ashtanga in the mornings and few Yin and Restorative yoga in the afternoons. By the end of the course, you will practice the Ashtanga yoga primary series by yourself, know to create and teach Vinyasa classes. You will also learn how to teach classes based on the primary sequence of Ashtanga.

"Ashtanga" means eight limbs. These limbs are laid out by Sage Patanjali in his "Yoga Sutras" and provide systematic steps that internally and externally purify the mind and body so that one may better connect to the divinity within themselves.

Practicing Ashtanga yoga means practicing these eight limbs. Asana, or yogic posture, is the third limb and one that has become most familiar in the present age. Asana lays the foundation for the rest of the limbs to unfold and the Ashtanga Vinyasa method uses this as its starting point.

Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga prescribes a set sequence of postures linked by the breath. Through the practice of free-breathing, postures (asanas), and gazing point (dristi), one slowly gains control of the senses and mind. Over time, with repeated practice and devotion, it unfolds into a moving meditation, awakening a sense of subtle awareness.

The mind becomes calmer, and slowly, we are able to clear away the clutter that gets in the way of clarity. When this happens, the light of yoga begins to shine. This is the transformational beauty of the practice.Through this practice, no matter your starting point, results will emerge.

Vinyasa Yoga, sometimes called Flow Yoga, is a contemporary style of yoga where students move freely from one pose to another using breath. It offers variety and freedom to choose from many poses, thus being unpredictable and creative. No two classes are alike. You will enjoy Vinyasa Yoga every other morning. We will design the morning Vinyasa classes to complement the theory we cover in the afternoons.

Course details

The yoga teacher training program is a practical and theoretical training course designed to help you become a confident and effective yoga teacher for all levels of students. You will have lots of opportunities to practice teaching. On day one, you will start teaching one-on-one and, as the course continues, you will progress to teaching larger groups.

By the end of the course, you will be able to teach mixed-level open yoga classes confidently. Since this is not a yoga retreat or holiday, students will be asked to actively participate, study, do their homework and prepare for the classes based on the requirements and recommendations of their teachers.

Teaching methodology

You will learn essential sequencing principles in order to create your own Vinyasa Flow classes. You will look at:

  • The difference between sequencing for more experienced students and for beginners
  • Different types of Vinyasa classes:
  • How to demonstrate asanas including reasons to demonstrate, when, why, do's and don'ts
  • How to hold the seat of a teacher and the energy of the class
  • How to project your voice
  • How to modify asanas
  • How to work with an open level class
  • How to give verbal instructions

There will be lots of practical teaching, planning, guidance and feedback on how to improve and enhance these skills. You will observe, teach, and receive constructive feedback from your fellow students and teachers.

Morning asana classes

The asana curriculum is equally split between ashtanga and vinyasa, meaning that you will practice three Ashtanga and three Vinyasa classes per week. The Ashtanga classes will progress gradually, while the Vinyasa classes will usually include pranayama, warm-up, sun salutations and variations, basic, intermediate and advanced yoga postures, postural alignment, deep relaxation techniques, and chanting.

Alignment and hands-on adjustments

You will have regular opportunities to practice hands-on adjustments with feedback from your teachers and peers.Alpha Yoga School will examine each of the main postures of the Ashtanga yoga primary sequence in terms of:

  • Correct key alignment and aim of each pose
  • Common misalignments of yoga poses
  • Misconceptions and tendencies
  • Modifications using props
  • Advanced variations
  • Hands-on adjustments


Every two to three days, there will be workshops where you will break down complex postures like lotus, headstand, deep backbends, transitions, chaturanga dandasana, and deep inversions. Alpha Yoga School teaches baby pre-requisite steps that include preparation exercises, appropriate warm-ups, and requirements for the full posture. These classes will bring safety, awareness, and mindfulness to your practice and teaching.


In these classes, you will explore functional yoga anatomy and how to safely deepen your practice through your vehicle of exploration; the body. You will learn about the skeletal, muscular, and nervous systems through a comprehensive breakdown of the various regions of the body most applicable to the practice.

Through hands-on, practical application, you will investigate the different types of connective tissues, experience the movements of the joints, and connect with your fascial body. You will leave with a more profound understanding of both your own body as well as your students.


Yoga philosophy is interwoven throughout the course. In this module, you will explore what yoga really is; its meanings, significances, and practices. You will investigate the roots of the practice; the Vedic tradition, while simultaneously embracing the beauty of the present moment.

Together, you will travel back in time to explore Vedic culture, myths, and mantras, and then continue down the evolutionary paths of both classical and modern yoga practices. You will be introduced to the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and the Bhagavad Gita, gaining both traditional and contemporary insight on their commentaries, while exploring the lifestyle and ethical guidelines of yoga.


Ayurveda, the Vedic science of health and longevity, is intrinsically linked to the practice of yoga. These two sister sciences developed together and are traditionally taught together. You will explore the foundations of this extraordinary holistic discipline while learning its basic principles of Self-healing that can be applied both on and off the mat.

Your instructors

Joanna Vladescu

Joanna started practicing yoga in a studio in Athens in 2005. Unwilling to miss a class, she knew that she had found a beautiful practice, both physically and mentally.

Since 2009 she has completed workshops and advanced studies with first-generation teachers of Ashtanga Vinyasa lineage including Manju Jois, David Swenson, Eddie Stern, Laruga Glaser, Kristina Karitinou, Rolf Naujokat, David Garrigues.

She completed teacher training in Ashtanga Yoga and Advanced Vinyasa Yoga in Goa, India. She completed a 50-hour Teacher Tune-up course with Noah Maze.

She is dedicated to her Ashtanga practice, always looking for a teacher. When she's in India, she continues her studies with Regina Ehlers. She practices and teaches primarily Ashtanga, Vinyasa Yoga and handstands. She likes to inspire people to adopt Ashtanga as a therapeutic method of self-transformation and self-discovery.

In her class, she emphasizes the bandhas and breath, that allow us to make our practice more than just physical exercise. She gives modifications for all body types as she believes yoga is for everyone and everyone has his/her own limitations. The yoga pose is not about how it looks, but how it feels.

She is funny, caring, inspiring and gives full attention to her students. She will take your practice to the next level with precise verbal and hands-on adjustments. Joanna is a Thai Massage Therapist and has a degree in Economics.

Martin Sittek

Martin started practicing yoga regularly in 2008 once he realized that it brought peace, relaxation, and balance to his otherwise sedentary and stressful lifestyle. Starting first with traditional Hatha yoga classes, he later transitioned to more dynamic styles of Vinyasa yoga.

Inevitably, he developed a curiosity about other aspects of yoga. He quit his job and traveled to India in pursuit of an overall practice of yoga. He never looked back.

After completing 200-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training with Sampoorna Yoga India, he attended 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training at Mahadevi Ashram in Guatemala. He learned the art of adjustment and alignment from Kamal Singh during 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Tattvaa Yoga Shala Rishikesh.

In 2018, he completed a 40-hour Ashtanga Yoga Teacher Training Course with David Swenson in Italy. David is one of only a handful of Westerners to have learned the full Ashtanga system as originally taught by K. Pattabhi Jois. Martin attended workshops with David Robson at Purple Valley in Goa, India.

He continues his studies with Regina Elhers, certified by K Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute in Mysore, India. Martin understands the challenges of deepening a yoga practice through years of dedicated personal experience. He uses this knowledge to help his students learn.

Martin has a great sense of humor. He facilitates, encourages and inspires his students with his devotion and knowledge. Martin has a Master's Degree in Thermal Engineering and a diploma in International Business and Management.

Laura Shanks

Originally from New York, Laura was drawn to yoga and movement at a young age. At the advice of a dance teacher, she began a regular Bikram practice at age 14 that evolved into a personal practice of her own. Over time, and through experimentation with various styles of yoga, her practice blossomed beyond the physical, becoming an all-encompassing, spiritual discipline.

A self-proclaimed “yoga nerd,” Laura’s practice includes not only Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga but expands off the mat to traditional forms of yoga including Bhakti, Nada, Kriya, Raja, Jnana, and Karma.

She completed 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in Classical Hatha Yoga and Meditation at an Ashram in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, as well as 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training and 100-hour Plus Yoga Teacher Training in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga at Kranti Yoga in Goa, India.

Having fallen in love with Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, she went on to complete Yoga Teacher Training with Kristina Karitinou-Ireland on the Full Primary Series and has practiced with several senior Ashtanga Vinyasa teachers around the world, including, John Scott, David Williams, Radha Warrell, Pierre Seghir, Jörgen Christiansson, and Louise Ellis.

Currently residing in Mysore, India, Laura is a dedicated student of Saraswathi Jois at K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute where she continuously studies asana, chanting, philosophy, and Sanskrit. She also studies traditional Ayurveda with Dr. Ranganathan.

Laura has completed 4 teacher training courses, each with a comprehensive anatomy unit. Since her training, she continues to take workshops in anatomy regulatory. She has studied with Dr. Robert Lamport (practitioner, anatomy teacher, and chiropractor) and taken several workshops, including one on the spine with Joe Miller. She has also taken David Keil’s online anatomy courses. Most recently, she completed a course through New York University on the physiological systems of the body and yoga’s impact on them. Through self-inquiry and a fascination with the mind and philosophy, she also developed a passion for the fascial body. She is a big fan of Dr. Thomas Myers, who’s work she continues to study regularly.

A journalism major in college and former fashion publicist, Laura’s inquisitive nature gave way to a strong interest in philosophy and self-inquiry which turned into a lifelong passion. She is grateful to share this passion with others teaching Yoga Philosophy, Ayurveda, Guided Meditation, Anatomy, Myofascial Release, and Yoga Asana.

Corfu is among the most beautiful and popular islands of Greece. It is located on the northwestern side of the country and has a strong historical connection with Europe. It is Corfu's cosmopolitan feeling combined with a special traditional character, amazing sea view, and yoga that can really create an ideal place for you to start your journey.

Apart from the wonderful beaches, another highlight of the island is the Old Town with the characteristic Venetian style, which is worth taking some time to enjoy. Corfu is easily combined with an escape to other close-by islands, such as Paxos and Antipaxos.

Also, the nearby village, Argyrades, which you can reach on foot from Andriana's, is lost in time. You can take your book and escape up the hill of Argyrades to enjoy your own quiet time, study or get to meet some real locals and check out the incredible views from above.


Healthy breakfast will be served daily at Andriana Apartments. Andriana prepares the breakfast herself and she makes marmalades from her own fruits and bakes really delicious vegan chocolate cakes. Lunches and dinners will be served at Kafesas taverna which is literally 50 meters away from Andriana.

Students will get to enjoy fresh vegetarian and pescatarian meals at Kafesas restaurant, which has a panoramic sea view. All the vegetables that the restaurant uses, are locally grown and very carefully selected by the owner. Check out their reviews on the internet, they have the best food. Here, you will taste the real Greece.

There are also traditional tavernas and general stores within 5 minutes of walking distance, but we promise you that the taverna where we will eat is the best and you will not want to eat somewhere else.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Corfu is located off the northwestern coast of Greece. Domestic and international flights can be booked directly to Ioannis Kapodistrias Airport (CFU), Corfu’s International Airport. It is located 31 km from Andriana Retreat Center. From there you can take a bus, taxi, or rent a car to reach the complex. The complex provides ample parking if you chose to rent a car.

There is a bus from the airport to the town of Corfu. From there, you can take another bus which will drop you off in front of Andriana.

A private taxi from the airport to Andriana apartments is around 50 EUR per ride and maximum for people can be in one taxi. Shared taxis can be arranged through our private Facebook group.

We will create a Facebook group four weeks before the course so that students can get together and arrange shared transportation.
