Nirav Thomas
Nirav, also known as Thomas, is a wacky, fun-loving, and rather humorous yogi. He is the founder and leader of Anuttara Ashram since its inception in 2005. He has been practicing yoga and tantra since 1999. His study of tantra yoga is based on an understanding of the depths of meditation, leading him into many solitary retreats into yoga practices and Buddhist meditation. He has been teaching in India, Thailand, and Canada since 2002. His knowledge and love of the practice radiates throughout the room and helps his students to expand the areas that they personally need.
Artemis Aarti Doyle
Artemis works as the director of operation at Anuttara Ashram and is a co-founder of Anuttara Yoga. She is dedicated to heightening the collective vibration by guiding spiritual practices that reveal practitioners to their true selves, and she selflessly holds space for all who are blessed to be in her realm. As a yoga teacher, she is recognized as having a natural connection with the divine.

How to get there

Driving directions from Vancouver

  • Drive from Vancouver on the 97N until Prince George.
  • Head west on the 16 (Yellowhead Hwy) until you come to Terrace.
  • Turn onto Kalum Lake service road (Nisga'a Highway) from highway 16. This will be a right hand turn after Canadian Tire if coming from Terrace, or a left hand turn before the Canadian Tire if coming from Prince Rupert.
  • Follow the signs to Nass Camp, this will take about one and a half hour. Please do not worry as all the signs are marked.
  • Upon arriving into Nass Camp, drive past Tilicum Lodge (on the right), and the general store or gas station (on the left).
  • Make the third right, which is where the pavement ends, and follow this for 200 meters.
  • You will find a road called Grease Trail Service Road. Turn here, cross over a bridge, and drive for 5.2 kilometers.
  • From there, turn left (there is a lot of bright orange flagging tape on a tree at the turnoff).
  • Drive for a bit longer and you will find a fence.
  • If your vehicle is low to the ground you may want to walk from there, about one kilometer. Otherwise, if you have a truck, you can keep driving until you come into the valley a bit, and you will see some vehicles parked there.
  • Please honk your horn a few times. You can walk down the hill to the meditation hall if no one comes to see you.
