Students who complete their training before 31 December 2021 are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

How the training works

You will have daily three hours of online classes along with interesting homework for you to complete during your free time. 150 to 170 contact hours will be spent on live sessions, discussions, teaching practicums, and much more. There will be approximately 130 non-contact hours for self-study through videos and study materials. Any doubts related to self-study materials can be cleared in the weekly special class of question-answer circle.

Timing of sessions (GMT+5:30)

Aranya Yoga Teacher Training in India will hold the live sessions from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. or 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Sample schedule 1

  • 06:00 - 07:00 Practical class: asana, pranayama, or meditation
  • 07:00 - 08:00 Practical class: asana clinic or teaching practice
  • 08:00 - 09:00 Theoretical class: philosophy or anatomy

There are five to 10 minutes break in between the classes.

Course information

Aranya Yoga Teacher Training in India is delighted to offer this training in five different styles of yoga. This course is designed to deepen your already existing knowledge and foundations of yoga in three main styles Hatha, Vinyasa, and Ashtanga, along with an introduction to Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra. In addition, you will gain in-depth knowledge of pranayama, meditation, and philosophy. This training will prepare you to teach principles and techniques of yoga that are more advanced, more detailed, and subtler.

The course is designed in relation to traditional and modern yoga practices. You are keeping the old knowledge of yoga passed in Gurukulam through yogic texts, yogic practices together with the modern way of teaching yoga which is constantly evolving in nature. You delve into the spiritual anatomy of your systems, physic meditations, Ayurveda, and knowing the work of prana in each yogic posture that you practice through the course. As your groups are small, you will have an opportunity to teach a lot and improve your teaching skills.

They give each student personal care and constant feedback. The aim is to prepare you for being an independent, wise, and flexible yoga teacher who is able to customize a class to every client, even the most challenging one, and for those with special needs and health issues. This course is intended to carry you further along your journey as a yoga teacher and prepare you for a more advanced personal and professional investigation into the transformative power of yoga.

Hatha yoga

Hatha yoga is a complete path by itself. It is the most ancient practice of yoga through which a lot of modern forms of yoga come. Hatha is also translated as 'ha' meaning 'sun' and 'tha' meaning 'moon'. This refers to the balance of masculine aspects - active, hot, sun, and feminine aspects - receptive, cool, moon - within everyone.

Ashtanga yoga

Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic style of yoga that quickly builds strength, increases flexibility, and develops cardiovascular fitness with breath-initiated movements(vinyasa) between the postures. You will be learning yoga Chikitsa (योग चिकित्सा, Yoga Cikitsā) which is the Sanksrit (संक्सृत्, Saṁksr̥t) name for the primary series and it can be translated as yoga therapy. Therefore this series purifies and heals the body.

Vinyasa yoga

Vinyasa yoga connects one posture to the next using the breath. This can be thought of as linking or flowing into postures which is sometimes why it is called flow yoga.

Syllabus

1. History and philosophy of yoga

In this course, you will study both the history of yoga in India in its many incarnations, as well as read and write about yogic philosophy, and contemplate how it can be applied to your daily life. You will discuss in more depth understanding the eight limbs of yoga as well as the Yamas and Niyamas, exploring how to transform your life into the practice of yoga ethics. The teachers generously bring their depth of experience from the years spent in ashrams or as yogis bringing the spiritual practice to the table in these discussions.

2. Meditation

Daily practice of guided meditation and silent meditation. A detailed analysis of meditation and how to do it is given as well as regular question and answer sessions about the practice.

3. Intensive study and practice of asanas (postures)

There is one hour of practice.

4. Sanskrit names of yoga postures

During the course, you will learn all the Sanskrit names for the poses studied as well as the Sanskrit names for philosophical concepts.

5. Alignment and modification of poses

A clear breakdown of postures is taught. This includes variations and modifications of poses as well as common misalignments, safety cues, and hands-on assisting with each posture. You will be also shown how to modify for students with injuries or lack of flexibility or strength.

6. Anatomy

This course has a very comprehensive anatomy section, which is very fun and engaging. Aranya Yoga Teacher Training in India will teach applied anatomy so that you will understand how to use it wisely in your teaching. Interactive learning prepares you to create yoga sequences and guide classes that are safe and structurally sound. During this section, you will assess and learn how to understand limitations in your own body, as well as learn how to look at someone and body read.

7. Yogic diet

You will learn about a traditional yogic diet, as well as eat a well-balanced and nutritious Sattvic diet yourself.

8. Pranayama

You will practice different pranayamas or breathing techniques every day and learn how to teach them safely and effectively.

9. The business of teaching yoga

There will be a workshop on how to go about finding work as a yoga teacher and how to market yourself.

10. Class sequencing and planning

You will learn how to create an effective and intelligent sequence and slowly build your class during the training. By the end of the training, you will have your sequences planned. You will be critiqued by the teaching staff and work toward improving your teaching skills.

11. Hands-on assisting

You will learn how to make hands-on adjustments for the main poses you study. Since the course is online, Aranya Yoga Teacher Training in India has planned classes where you will be practicing on each other starting with a pair of two and a mentor to check your performance and guide you.

12. Practice teaching

From the very beginning of the course, you will start practicing teaching poses one by one as you learn them. You will slowly and intelligently build up to teaching sun salutations and keep adding a little more material until you have built a full class and will feel comfortable teaching it. Throughout this process, you are given a lot of support, feedback, and encouragement to give you the tools to become a great teacher.

13. Deepen and further your own yoga practice

As well as practicing for three hours every day, you will get plenty of personal assistance and help with your poses and encouraged to deepen your practice and to set and achieve goals within it.
