The Ashtanga Yoga Institute is a boutique institution offering an unparalleled educational experience. Class sizes are limited to 26 students (this is an absolute maximum), creating an intimate and personal environment. The training course is for those looking to develop and enhance their yoga practice by learning the essential techniques of alignment and breath awareness while cultivating the balance between strength, stability, and flexibility. Learn about and experience deep relaxation and rest. See it as an integral part of practice. You will also learn how the entire practice can and should have a restorative expect. Learn how to soften the practice and find subtle aspect, touching a deep sense of calm and inner peace.

The Ashtanga Yoga Institute provides you the training you need to pass on practical yoga techniques to your students. Each 200-hour yoga teacher training course is headed by their qualified staff of trainers. After you completed your training you will receive a registered yoga teachers (RYT) certification that will qualify you to teach yoga anywhere in the world.

You will learn in a traditional, authentic yoga setting under highly qualified instructors, where you will gain the skills you need to pass on practical yoga techniques to your students. Training will be both theoretical and practical, and will include:

Curriculum

The Ashtanga Yoga Institute bases their curriculum on the 200-hour teacher training standards as developed by the Yoga Alliance.

The curriculum includes:

  • The yoga philosophy of 8 Limbs of Ashtanga, Raja yoga, and yoga sutras
  • Asana techniques, including practice and training in pranayama, bandhas, kriyas, meditation, and chanting
  • Physiology and anatomy, including mudras, chakras, nadis, and the health benefits of yoga
  • Teaching methodology, including standards, adjusting, sequencing, learner and teacher styles
  • Yoga lifestyle
  • Classroom management
  • Business management
  • Introduction to Ayurveda

Typical daily schedule:

  • 07:30 Morning intensive (pranayama and asana class)
  • 10:15 Breakfast
  • 11:00 Study and lectures
  • 13:00 Lunch
  • 15:00 Asana teaching skills and anatomy
  • 20:00 Yoga documentary (once a week)

Requirements:

The course will be conducted in English, so in order to attend, you must be proficient in the language. They also require students to have:

This retreat will take place on the tropical island of Koh Samui in Thailand. The island of Koh Samui is a small island located in the Gulf of Thailand in the southeast Thailand in Surat Thani Province. Koh Samui has two sister islands: Koh Phangan and the smaller Ko Tao. The main town is Chaweng, where you can find anything you need for your stay. Koh Samui is famous for sandy beaches, coral reefs, and coconut trees are present on the island.

The climate is warm and humid for most of the year. However, in comparison to most of the rest of southern Thailand, Koh Samui’s weather is relatively drier. The heaviest precipitation is typically seen in the months of October and November. For the rest of the year, given the tropical climate, rain showers are brief; 20-60 minutes duration is typical. The name Koh Samui derives from the word “samui”, meaning “sand bar” in the southern dialect, for these, are many sandbars offshore.

Daily breakfast and dinner are included in the price. You will be served a cuisine that is healthy and delicious. You will experience vibrant vegetarian or vegan food including raw and living food, super food, whole food and Thai vegetarian cuisine. Food is prepared in a way, which keeps the highest energy level of all ingredients. This food helps deepen your spiritual practices. Teas and fresh juices are designed to enhance the detoxing process.

During your free time, you may choose to relax, enjoy the beach and quiet retreat environment. Explore Koh Samui by yourself or with someone and try some water activities such as diving, snorkeling or visit Samui Zoo or its wonderful waterfalls. Koh Samui is an amazing tropical Island and you will have an opportunity to explore it during your days off (Sundays).
