Corn Island is located about 70 kilometers east of the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua. It lies in the Caribbean Sea surrounded by beautiful white, sandy beaches and wonderful snorkeling and diving spots with underwater visibility up to 80 feet. If you take a good look on the map, you will find Paraiso Beach Hotel on the south-west side of Corn Island, right on the unspoiled Shipwreck Beach. Corn Island is full with exotic fruit trees, native palms, and surrounded by white sand beaches. As a haven for pirates and buccaneers in the 17th century, there is an untold number of shipwrecks and treasures still lay scattered along the turquoise shores. The islanders, descendant from the original British prospectors and freed slaves, make their living from harvesting lobster and fish from the prolific, offshore fishing banks. Many Miskito Indians from the nearby Miskito Coast as well as Nicaraguans from the mainland have moved to Corn Island in recent years, diversifying the population and languages overheard on the island. However, the laid-back atmosphere and lifestyle seems to overtake anyone who visits Corn Island.

"“This has been one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life both physically. emotionally, mentally and spiritually. The setting was amazing though I would not choose to sleep in a dorm again as I found there where too many disruptions in my sleep – and exhaustion makes asana practice difficult. I enjoyed the course instructions though there where times when it was unclear which text to use for the 2 quizzes. I am extremely thankful to have been a student here and I am very much looking forward to my own version of Karmic yoga.”"

"“I had a great time overall. The many hours of yoga asanas, the detox of sugar and internet made me go through ups and down and I enjoyed both. I love the way you (Edwin and Catarina) shared your yoga experience with us. Having deep conversations about Pratyahara and laughing about a dog drinking from the altar of Ganesha is a great combo of keeping yoga both serious and committed but also fun and light. Thank for everything!”"

"It's Yoga Nicaragua was for my boyfriend and myself the best school we could have chosen. Catarina and Edwin are wonderful teachers and inspiring persons, we can really look up to. The course was challenging & inspiring. We learned much more than just to become a Yoga teacher, but to become your own teacher and grow as a person. We will for sure go back one day. When thinking about starting our own retreats they even acted as mentors and reassured us to come up with the courage and do exactly what we have in mind. I will forever be thankful to Catarina and Edwin Lacayo from It's Yoga Nicaragua for inspiring us in so many ways, for being able to look up to them, share ideas and inspiration with them. Besides them as persons their program was so perfectly set up with a great mix of focus areas, i loved the Ashtanga Vinyasa practice, Rocket but also very much our Yoga Philosophy & History sessions, talking about the Yoga Sutras and discussing and reflecting together. Being in beautiful nature in Nicaragua just made it even more peaceful. I also love that they are doing the selfless services during their training, with different projects to choose from. I will always recommend the training to anyone & look forward to see them again in the future."

"I had a amazing and unique life time experience in Ostional Nicaragua. Not only was the physical part of yoga thoroughly broken down and discussed but the mental and spiritual side was always at the fore front. Not only did we all get a chance to learn to become yoga teachers, but we lived the yogi life style for 3 weeks on a isolated beach surrounded by beautiful nature. Edwin and Catarina are caring and enlightened individuals with so much good to share. "Overall, my experience learning to become a yoga teacher with It's Yoga Nica was great! Catarina and Edwin were both very knowledgeable, personable, and shared their passion for yoga. I also really appreciated the small class size (9) and the beautiful and peaceful Nicaraguan environment was a great place to connect with myself, the other students, and the world around me. I felt like I was provided a good foundation in yoga philosophy and instruction in how to teach the physical postures. I would definitely recommend It's Yoga Nica to those who would like to become certified to teach yoga in a rustic, beautiful environment with encouraging, knowledgeable, and supportive teachers."
