On this retreat, there will be a one day tour to a nearby location.

The teacher training is held in Rishikesh, 24 kilometers from Hardwar. Located in the laps of lower Himalayas, and is surrounded by scenic beauty of the hills on three sides with Holy Ganga flowing through it. The whole place is considered to be sacred as it is believed that meditation at this place leads to attainment of salvation.

Why Rishikesh?

There are many temples-some ancient, some new along the river Ganges. Rishikesh is important not only as a pilgrimage centre closely associated with the Ramayana, but also as home for many important centers of Hindu religious thought and spirituality, and as a very great Yoga Ashram in Rishikesh. There are many great Yoga Ashrams and Yoga institutes here.

Rishikesh is also the gateway and the start-off point for journeys to important religious places like Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, and Yamunotri. Rishikesh, the most tranquil place in northern Uttar Pradesh, surrounded by hills and bisected by the wide and sluggish Ganges, is often claimed as the `Yoga Capital of the World'. Back in the 1960s, Rishikesh gained instant fame as the site where The Beatles came to stay with their guru, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. It is an excellent place to meditate and study yoga. Rishikesh is also a good starting.

For a better spiritual atmosphere, Ayur Yoga School designs the meals accordingly. So they offer 3 healthy meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner) along with accommodation. All meals are completely vegetarian, and they do not allow non-vegetarian. The cooking space is neat and clean which is supervised by the administration to ascertain healthy victuals. Cost of the food is included in the fee structure. If someone is eager to contribute in the cooking exercise, the school does welcome!

Other than weekly breaks there will be a couple of breaks between daily classes. You will have enough free time to get your other activities done.

The nearest airport is Jolly Grant which is 18 kilometers from Rishikesh on the way to Dehradun. At present, chartered planes operate.

Arrival by train

Rishikesh is connected by rail with Haridwar, Delhi, Bombay, Howrah, Lucknow and Agra.
