A yoga TTC is not just to become a teacher, but to become a good student. This TTC gives you the necessary tools to sequence a class, but it's your true inner self that will guide people to help them see their true potential. This TTC helps you to recognize and bring out that inner self. We are more possibilities than we think, we are the infinite and we can manifest our new life by gifting ourselves a new possibility. Taught and guided by experienced teachers in the tropical island of Sri Lanka, among nature and wildlife, these days are your inner transformation period. It's not the run of the mill yoga course, you will learn about awareness through body, Kalaripayatu, various styles of yoga, Ayurveda, etc.
The bungalow, villas, cottages, and cabanas are designed to offer you the ultimate retreat into nature, allowing you to immerse yourself in the tranquil natural environment while maintaining individual privacy. The ‘outdoors meets indoors’ layout of living spaces and bathrooms are especially popular with guests, as it amplifies one’s enjoyment of the natural surrounds. All bedrooms have attached bathrooms with hot water showers, and are mosquito-proofed. Rooms have outdoor shower, comfortable, and clean toilets and a lot of sitting area.

Students who complete their subsequent trainings are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
Learn different forms of Surya Namaskar with proper form and alignment, all the while understanding its purpose and benefits. Learn about the different categories of asanas / poses - their benefits, modifications, progressions, regressions, etc., and their collective benefits within a practice. Understand the art of using props (belts, blocks, bolsters). Go beyond your present level in your asana practice. Build up the skill of self-discovery, and learning through one’s own practice to help others. Learn to teach your classmates.
Understand the differences and similarities of Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, and when to use and practice each. Understand how to observe, and enhance intuition. Design a class so that the practitioner gains maximum benefit from the practice. Sequence a complete class that is accessible to all. Be able to demonstrate, instruct, correct, and lead all level classes and practitioners. Sequencing principles, sequencing for special needs and different bodies.
Understand the respiratory system and how it correlates with the body and yoga. Understand various pranayama techniques, learn their benefits and best times of practice of pranayama. Different prerequisites and techniques of meditation and chanting. Understand the need and challenges of meditation. The importance of sound vibrations and their impact on the body and mind. Enhanced ability to chant important mantras for physical wellbeing, lightness of the heart, clarity in mind, and other benefits.
Understand and know the bones, muscles, ligaments, tissues, tendons, fascia, and joints of the body. Know the planes of the body and how the body moves through them, and properly align the body in each asana as you learn them. Know what to look for in various body types, and the best way to guide each safely through a practice. Understand and explain the subtle bodies (nadis, koshas, chakras, dosha, gunas, and prana), and how to ensure their balance. Understand the psychological issues of depression, trauma, emotional imbalance, and more.
Learn to communicate effectively with others using yoga language and terminology. Gain practical experience using compassionate communication and improve communication skills. Be able to explore teaching styles and do the work to identify with your own unique style of teaching. Roles, responsibilities, ethics, and qualities for yoga teachers. Business of yoga - build a strong and relevant yoga resume highlighting your strengths, skills, and experience. Understand how to connect with other yoga schools and build relations in your community. Apply for yoga teaching jobs and how to follow up. Understanding liability issues and obtaining all permits, licenses, taxes, and more.

Balaganesh Sivaprakasam, shortly Bala, born in a village very close to Auroville, grew up in Chennai to become an Import and Supply Chain Manager, got his first experience in yoga while he was living in Amsterdam. After his return to India and practicing with wonderful teachers in Auroville, he has decided to do 200-hr TTC in Sivananda style of Hatha yoga. He has been teaching yoga classes in Auroville since then. Besides Sivananda style, Bala has been practicing Ashtanga and Vinyasa himself for a few years. He believes the discipline of both body and mind is the only way to live a yogic life.
Hailing from Nepal, Purnima has done 200-hour Hatha yoga in Sivananda Ashram in Kerala, in 2017. Purnima started volunteering by teaching yoga for special children. From yogasanas, pranayama, dhyana, yamas, and niyamas, every aspect of yoga is life for her. She gained the opportunity to acquire yogic wisdom with authenticity straight from its origin in India. She is recognized as a great yoga instructor of ideal standards and spread the message of yoga across the globe. She practices living a life of authenticity, courage, and mindfulness. She has traveled to many countries.
Rebecca is from Spain and has traveled to the length and breadth of the world. She did a five-year course at university level to become a specialist in physiotherapy. She now lives and practices physiotherapy, and teaches yoga in Auroville, Pondicherry, India. She is a specialist in the human anatomy and the functioning of the human body. She did her 300-hour TTC in Asana Andiappan School of Yoga in Chennai, India. She is a level 2 certified Reiki healer and Vedic healer too. She is part of the sacred feminine circle and helps women to achieve balance.
Back of Beyond Wellness Retreat in Kahandamodara is a haven for nature lovers looking to embark on a restorative journey into wellness.
