This retreat will take place in the coastal town of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca in the province of Limón in southeastern Costa Rica. It is simply known as Puerto Viejo to locals and offers many conveniences as an up-and-coming beach town that was once very off the beaten path. This place is a nature lovers dream. It is takes about four and a half hours by bus or shuttle from the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO).
Puerto Viejo is a laid back village that moves to a reggae beat. Shirts and shoes are optional at many restaurants. The beaches are never crowded and offer lots of activities including surfing, snorkeling, biking, hiking, gourmet restaurants, wildlife, and friendly people. People often return once they have visited Puerto Viejo. It is a fun and inexpensive place that can easily turn into your favorite vacation spot. Rent a bicycle and see it all. You can also take a bus or hire a guide for great day trips.
Mouth-watering vegetarian breakfast, lunches, and dinners will be served daily during this training. Gluten-free and vegan options are also available by special request. As much of the food as possible is sourced from on-site organic gardens and locally from the community. This is truly a labor of love that can be seen and tasted with each serving, and is often one of the highlights of many tired students' experience.
If you are feeling adventurous, Caribe Yoga Academy can organize a series of excursions and tours for you at an additional cost. Puerto Viejo is full of fun adventures and explorations for your free time. Try a surf class, pop into the spa for a massage or reiki, go horseback riding, hike waterfalls, visit the indigenous reserve or chocolate house, take a bike cruise, spot the local wildlife, or simply beach hop on 14 kilometers of pristine Caribbean beaches on your days off from training.
You can book spa treatments for an additional cost. Ayurvedic, Swedish, Thai, deep tissue, and trigger point massages are offered. Reiki, cranio-sacral, and integrative healing yoga therapies are available. Clarity breathwork and lymph drainage services are also provided.
