VY Vinyasa Yoga welcomes you to join their 300-hour advanced Vinyasa yoga teacher training program in Mexico, an opportunity to continue your personal growth and professional development as a yoga teacher. You will spend your days in contact with nature, in touch with your soul, dedicated 100% to the study of Vinyasa yoga, away from any distraction.
The sleep accommodations are in reserved spaces for nature conservation, so you can learn to interact with nature responsibly and peacefully, and become more aware of your relationship with Mother Earth.
Situated five kilometers from the village of Chemuyil and nested in the heart of the jungle, Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats is a beautiful space dedicated to hosting yoga and holistic retreats and training programs, created to offer a peaceful experience in the middle of the jungle, co-habiting with nature, respecting and honoring all the jungle inhabitants.
The main concern in Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats is to have a space dedicated to show the world how you can preserve and guard flora and fauna of the region, creating the less impact possible by treating wastes, avoiding disturbance of the environment, and healing the footprint that modern society has done for centuries to Mother Earth.
To preserve nature, Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats operates with solar panels, so although they have enough electrical power for lights and phone and laptop chargers, no hairdryers, hair irons, clothes iron, or any appliances which operate with electric resistance are allowed, since they are not supported by the electrical system.
The water comes from dwell and all the water and waste are treated in a state-of-the-art water treatment plant, which consists in a composter which collects the organic material from toilets and separates water from solids, drying the solids with wood chips and coconut debris, preventing the creation of methane, and therefore, avoiding unpleasant odors.
The water separated from the solids is directed to the wetland, which uses layers of stones, gravel, clay, sand, wood chips, coconut debris, and beautiful plants to absorb nutrients and fat from soaps to clean the water. At the end of the wetland, there is a beautiful bamboo garden and a little pond where tadpoles and fishes live happy and healthy.
Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats accommodation spaces are five gorgeous glamping tents: House of the Squirrel and House of the Sereque, single occupancy tents with one full-size mattress each, House of the Coatis and House of the Foxes for double occupancy with two twin size mattresses each, and House of the Monkeys, the dorm-style huge glamping tent, which accommodates four people in four single beds. All of the tents are spacious and you are able to stand up.
Walls and ceiling of glamping tents are made of a special exterior fabric called Sunbrella, the leading premium fabric for outdoor furniture, shading, and marine applications. Because of its resistance to stains, mildew, fading, UV, and water, it is used to build boat canvas, upholstery, sling chairs, and more. The walls can be folded to leave only the mosquito net, so the tents are ventilated and fresh.
The beautiful polished cement floors provide coziness and beauty and invite you to walk barefoot, feeling the connection with nature even inside your tent. Pillows and bed linens are provided and bed linens are changed and sent to a local laundry in Chemuyil once a week to contribute with the local community economy. Please don’t forget to bring your own bath towel!
These cozy and spacious glamping tents are equipped with a full-size mattress, a night table, a small set of drawers, and a lamp.
Two beautiful middle-size tents that were thought to be shared by two people, so they have two twin size mattresses, a night table, two small sets of drawers, and a lamp. There is enough space to place your suitcases or backpacks on the polished cement floor.
For those who enjoy the company of others and sharing adventures and stories with them, they designed this dorm-style huge tent, consisting of four single beds that comfortably accommodate four people, four sets of small drawers, and lamps. There is enough space to place your suitcases or backpacks on the polished cement floor.
There is a common bathroom area close to the kitchen/dining area, equipped with three bathrooms, three showers, and four sinks, and there is also a pee-only dry bathroom close to the glamping tents area. The shala is a giant circular glamping tent with walls of mosquito net, which provides a 360-degree view of the beautiful jungle. The heart of the shala is a living huge tree native from the Riviera Maya region, called “zapote”.
This is the tree that was used by the ancient Mayans to make bubble gum and we preserved it to be your guide during your journey and remind you that yoga is about contributing to all living creatures’ wellbeing and happiness. Outside of the shala, there is a cute little space to leave your shoes and your egos outside the shala, to be ready to enjoy our practice.
The beautiful locations where these training will be held are in warm, humid, close to the sea, close to the jungle areas, with easy access from anywhere in the world, stress-free, and crime-free. During this time, you will enjoy five delicious meals per day, all of the light and balanced, cooked with healthy ingredients and lots of love.
The sleep accommodations are in reserved spaces for nature conservation, so you can learn to interact with nature responsibly and peacefully, and become more aware of your relationship with Mother Earth.
In these times when racism, sexism, intolerance, and imaginary divisions between the human races are separating people apart, VY Vinyasa Yoga's mission is to do exactly the opposite: they want to promote yoga (union) with a bilingual yoga teacher training. The program will be taught in English, but you can speak English or Spanish.
They will have a translator available at all times, and the teaching staff can speak and teach in both languages. They encourage you to practice your second language in your daily activities and discussions and, if you feel comfortable enough, to also teach asana in your second language.
No matter in which country of the world you were born and raised; the color of your skin, your religious beliefs or your social status, the language you speak, your sexual preference, or your political affiliation; if you are a football fan of any team, or not, they respect you, support you, and you are totally welcome.
Breakfast is served at 8:30 a.m on Sundays and the rest of the day is free up to 7:00 p.m when we will meet for dinner and Satsang / Kirtan / Special activities.
Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®). Registration with Yoga Alliance provides a globally recognized credential.
VY Vinyasa Yoga is a yoga system founded in 2009 in the city on Monterrey, N.L. México and is now being reproduced by a lot of schools and teachers around the nation. VY Vinyasa Yoga is registered with Yoga Alliance as RYS 200 and RYS 300. Therefore, it is one of the best-certified schools for the teachings of yoga, internationally speaking.
Aside from the teacher training programs, VY Vinyasa Yoga offers workshops, master classes, and regular classes for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students without making any remarks related to their age, social or economic status, race, gender, nationality, or sexual preference. In VY Vinyasa Yoga, they promote the yogi lifestyle, based on personal, regular, and constant yoga practice.
The school has created a favorable atmosphere for the physical, mental, and spiritual development of all the members of VY Vinyasa Yoga. The staff members treat all people with respect and dignity, they are in constant training and study by maintaining themselves informed and up to date regarding any general matter of interest for society and above all, on subjects related to yoga.
Many of the yoga asanas and the Vinyasas or transitions that take you to them or interlace them with each other are born of meditative practice, of fakirism, of gymnastics and other sports, and some more modern ones, come from different styles of dance. The vast majority of them have been developed intuitively or accidentally.
It is not until you stop to see what the human being knows about the biomechanics of the human body today and take into account the scientific developments they have achieved in the last century in subjects such as anatomy, sports medicine, and genetics when they really measure the risks or benefits that the asanas or vinyasas can cause in the short, medium or long term.
You will study each joint and its movement, as well as muscles and tendons involved in those movements both in extension and contraction. You will open the matrix of the human body and after that, you will never see an asana in the same way; so that more than learning asanas or modifications for them, you will have the criteria to create or modify them.
This training is the firm basis, is what establishes the criteria, of all advanced sequencing of asanas of this VYATT300. The creators of this program believe that this module is one of the most important and transcendental of the program. Because the way of seeing the bodies, asanas, and the yoga sequences change completely once the biomechanics of the human body is known in detail.
In this training, you will learn to sequence series for practitioners who have a strong and solid asana practice, and who have reached a point where they feel too comfortable in multi-level Vinyasa classes, so they have more trouble to stay in the here and the now. These practitioners need new challenges for their body so that their mind is present and does not leave with their thoughts.
This training not only prepares you as a teacher to sequence and dictate more advanced series, with complex transitions and strong postures but also helps you grow in your personal practice. But it is important to stress that although your personal practice is not at the point where you can make complex transitions or strong postures, this training prepares you to be able to teach such transitions safely and without having to show them with your own body, so you can be able to help your students to advance in their practice of asanas and, consequently, in their practice of meditation in movement.
This training is about the physical practice of vinyasa yoga that together with the advanced anatomy training of this VYATT300, becomes a perfect match to shape a unique, safe, and inspiring practice.
You will be learning and mastering five sequencing styles of the VY Vinyasa Flow system, and these encompass the forms of joining the postures that are used in the modern Vinyasa Yoga Flow around the world by the most representative teachers of this style. The system presented by the school in this advanced teacher training gives the RYT the tools to dictate and create their own Vinyasa Flow series in a safe way for all practitioners of this vigorous and dynamic style.
In this training you will translate the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali directly from Sanskrit into English and Spanish. Then you will discuss its context and analyze a possible re-interpretation in your personal life from a contemporary perspective.
Sati or mindfulness is the basic human capacity to be in the present and to "remind ourselves" to be in the present, that is, to constantly be returning to the here and now. This training offers you meditation tools and different techniques to achieve this goal and prepares you to be able to teach them to other practitioners.
In this training, you will analyze the necessary modifications in the alignment of the postures that are taught in a multilevel yoga practice to be able to adapt to this style of yoga that is very soft, focused on those people who are rehabilitating from some injury, are overweight, have some illness or physical condition that does not allow them to be agitated or to try too hard, are pregnant, or are simply looking for a smooth and calm yoga practice.
You will also study not only the typical injuries and the most common physical conditions, but also how to identify some emotional conditions such as depression and anxiety (among others), in order to use the practice of yoga as a complementary tool to the existing psychological therapy and, in if it does not exist, you can suggest to the student the search for psychological therapy.
Ors is the director of VY Vinyasa Yoga System which consists of a group of affiliated shalas where the model for the teaching of yoga created by Ors in collaboration with Marina Porras and others teachers, is officially followed. He has given thousands of regular classes, certified hundreds of teachers that have now their own yoga studios, and taught classes, workshops and trainings for students all around Mexico. If you allow him to, Ors will teach you with his particular sense of humor. What really matter is the non-violence with your body, the safety in your practice and in the classes.
Marina discovered yoga in August of 2006 and since then, her life changed forever. At the beginning of 2008, she started a yoga teacher training and in April she started teaching multilevel Vinyasa yoga classes in a gym in her hometown city of Monterrey. She has taken 900 hours of yoga teacher training (three programs of 200 hours and one 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training program, all certified by Yoga Alliance) in different styles of yoga from Vinyasa based in Ashtanga, Mandala, Hatha flow, to Rocket and Vinyasa flow. She is registered in Yoga Alliance as an E- RYT 500.
Musical producer by profession, Conejo had his first approach to yoga in 2013, after studying martial arts for nearly 20 years. Additionally, he has trained in the practice of meditation, taking courses and retreats of various contemplative techniques, such as Vipassana and Shamata, from the hands of teachers from different parts of the world. Conejo is the Dharma Rabbit coordinator, a school belonging to the VY Vinyasa Yoga Sister Schools System, located in the city of León, Guanajuato.
VY Vinyasa Yoga 300-hours Advanced Teacher Training Intensive Program will be held in Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats, located in the Mayan Riviera, only 30 minutes from Tulum downtown. The program is limited to 10 students, in order to be able to provide personal attention and special care for all of the students. The beautiful location where this training will be held is in a warm, humid, and close to the sea area, literally in the middle of the Riviera Maya jungle with easy access from anywhere in the world, stress-free and crime-free.
Delicious homemade breakfast, lunch, and dinner prepared with local and fresh products are served daily, and fresh fruit and tea will be served twice per day as mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks. You will be enjoying a buffet-type healthy menu. The regular menu includes eggs, dairy, poultry, and fish but vegetarian and vegan options are available upon request. Special diet restrictions and allergies should be mentioned upon booking.
On-site, a few activities are at your disposal for your free time on Sundays. The environment and the atmosphere of Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats will help you relax and enjoy the peace and beauty of co-living with nature. You can also visit a few places nearby just by taking the van in the town to Chemuyil.
The swimming pool is carved in the rock and is surrounded by a mosquito net, so you can relax and enjoy nature, without the annoying presence of mosquitoes and other flying insects. The pool is cleaned by a natural system that involves plants, fishes, and different types of mineral and organic materials, eliminating the need of the use of chemicals to maintain clean and fresh pool water all the time, without polluting the natural underground water system.
The area surrounding Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats is very safe, so you can walk around, and you're very likely to see some typical fauna of the region, like coatis, sereques, squirrels, grey foxes, a variety of birds and insects, and if you´re lucky, even spider monkeys. Although it is true that jaguars and other big felines live in the jungle, they will not approach areas inhabited by humans since they are really afraid of people.
There have been no attacks by these animals to humans and VY Vinyasa Yoga states don´t need to be afraid that this will change. In the jungle, there are also a lot of different types of spiders, a couple of types of scorpions, and a few different types of snakes, but none of them are dangerous or lethal. In case you have an encounter with any of them, stay away from them and they will not harm you at all. Always stay on the paths and roads and it's strongly recommended that you not enter the wild jungle barefoot or wearing sandals.
There are a lot of sea turtle sanctuaries very close to Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats. Akumal is a little town that became very popular for the sea turtles that come and nest on its beaches, and if you are lucky, you might have the opportunity to watch their eggs hatch and help little sea turtles go into deep waters. Akumal is 12 kilometers away from the retreat.
Tulum is a town famous for the Mayan archeological site that dominates the Caribbean Sea. The archeological site is 18 kilometers from Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats and Tulum downtown is 1.5 kilometers ahead.
A variety of open cenotes and caves are very close to Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats and can be visited during your free time on Sundays. VY Vinyasa Yoga can even arrange a tour with the best snorkel, diving, free diving, and apnea instructors in the area.
Just seven kilometers from Santosha Sanctuary Yoga & Retreats, you can find Xcacel, which is one of the most beautiful spots of the Mayan Riviera, still protected from mass tourism. Xcacel is a stunning wild place with no shops, no bars, and no restaurants. You can´t even buy a bottle of water! This beach is protected because it became a sanctuary of the sea turtles.
Different types of massages are available upon request to be scheduled during free time during the week or on Sundays (extra charge).
