Pre-application requirements

  • Take at least 3 classes with Deanna before the start of the program.
  • A love for yoga and learning.

You do not need to know how to do a handstand to join this training - an advanced practice is related to cultivating a high quality of attention, focus, and self-awareness.

Certifications

Students who complete their training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

Requirements for certification

This is to be addressed in-depth at orientation.

  • Complete all teacher training sessions
  • Daily sadhana (self-practice)
  • Assigned reading, written homework, and taking notes
  • “Mentor Meetings” with your assigned group to practice teaching, included in training dates
  • Final written exam and teaching practicums

How the training works

Your 9 weekends of immersion begin on Friday, July 3, 2020 and there will be 2 weekends off (July 25 and August 22, 2020). Once you submit your short application and payment, you’ll receive the reading list and further details. Your time together will be the schedule below. You have to arrive at the online sessions 10 to 15 minutes before all start times.

Timing of sessions - EDT (GMT-4)

  • Fridays: 2 - 8 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 11 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Sundays: 10 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Graduation: September 14, 2020

You'll learn from teachers who walk the walk - they’re experienced, knowledgeable, creative, and cultivate a safe, welcoming, immersive environment conducive to exploring with depth in your practice. Dhyana Yoga Arts teacher training are celebrated for being challenging, creative, well-rounded, and rewarding in ways that call on you to step into your full capacity. The team will guide you in deep yogic exploration, prepare you to teach with confidence and skill, and support you in empowering yourself to nourish your strengths, gifts, and knowledge of yoga.

Yoga is about self-awareness and relationships, and your time together asks for your active participation in the program and in the community.

You can expect:

  • to be paired with a mentor and a yoga “buddy” for practice teaching and reflections
  • to graduate well-prepared to teach alignment, Vinyasa, and basics classes, with an understanding of how to adjust for different levels
  • a rigorous, challenging and rewarding training that includes high quality intensives with your teachers and homework including writing, reading, development of home-practice, weekly class requirement, and in-class teaching practice that reflects your yogic explorations (plan to commit at least 3 - 5 hours per week outside of scheduled training dates)
  • to practice teach and receive clear feedback on your teaching
  • to deepen your understanding of yoga philosophy, including study on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
  • to deepen your practice through classes, workshops, self-practice, observation, analysis, and study
  • to learn anatomy and subtle anatomy, and how these relate to yoga and modifications for students at different levels

This teacher training is held online. Dhyana Yoga Arts is located in New Jersey, USA - EDT (GMT-4), and they will live-stream yoga classes via Zoom which you can participate from the comfort of your home.
