This energetic teacher training course introduces you to the multifaceted world of yoga principles and practice. This training is specifically designed to help curious and passionate students strengthen their practice and to safely teach yoga to others.

You will learn the keys to a yogic lifestyle through the teachings of the Yoga Sutras and how to embody and embrace this wisdom and share this with your students. Spend your breaks and time off at the nearby beach, which you will find within walking distance.

In this training, Diamond Heart Yoga draw from a deep experience of extensive training over 20 years, from a masters degree in traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Tibetan Buddhism, and yoga philosophy. With many years of training in Chinese medicine, Tai Chi, and yoga comes a rich background in anatomy and functional anatomy.

Over the years of taking classes, teaching classes, and leading teacher training all over the world, Diamond Heart Yoga has noticed that the anatomy, functional anatomy and philosophy is a missing component in many pieces of training, and these components are key to further a teachers knowledge to be able to inspire their students to have a richer and transformative experience in class.

Keeping all these core subjects in mind, our training is one of the only training in the world that largely focuses on philosophy, anatomy, and alignment - which in today's world is soo important for a teacher to have the confidence to teach that to others.

This Diamond Heart Yoga school 300-hour Yoga Alliance Accredited Teacher Training takes you on a great journey of exploration into the world of yoga. This training focuses on how to intimately join yogic philosophy and asana practice, planting the seeds to successfully navigate life - on and off the mat.

Specifically designed for teachers who have already completed a 200-hour teacher training program, this advanced training helps you dive deeper into existing skills and refine them into a richer and more fulfilling practice and teaching experience.

This training offers a rich palette of teachings for the body, mind, and spirit/self. Diamond Heart Yoga study and discuss ancient philosophical concepts from the Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita and the Ashtavakra Gita. Diamond Heart Yoga delve into wisdom teachings from Tibetan Buddhism and Tibetan Heart Yoga.

Each of these beautiful texts and traditions helps you deepen your understanding of yourselves and how you engage in your world, to become better teachers and human beings. Throughout this 300-hour training, participants will establish a strong foundation in spiritual philosophy and wisdom.

Spiritual and philosophical teachings are joined by asana, pranayama, and meditation study and practice. Familiar asana poses and sequences are expanded upon, as you begin to understand the patterns of prana that are created by various body movements and breathing practices.

Diamond Heart Yoga explores pose variations, safe alignment, and pose- and body-specific assisting and adjusting. Alignment is considered holistically, as well as how to sequence to safely get into poses and their more advanced variations, and transitioning between poses.

Functional anatomy is highly emphasized, so teachers will leave with a working command of how the body moves. Daily practice-teaching opportunities with ample time for supportive feedback will build confidence and strengthen your teaching skills. Teachers will further leave the training with a greater understanding of meditation techniques and how to facilitate guided meditation.

This training even incorporates elements of acupuncture, herbology, nutrition, Tai Chi and Qigong, Tui Na and massage, as well as Hatha, Ashtanga, Anusara and other surprises to make it truly unique!

About the instructor

Scott Nanamura previously taught at Tahoe Yoga Shala (formerly Mountain Yoga) in South Lake Tahoe, California, and blends a unique style of Tibetan Heart Yoga, Hatha, Anusara, and Ashtanga into his teachings. Weaving in philosophy throughout the fun and energetic class. He is able to help students connect the philosophic wisdom with their asana practice, bringing wisdom and movement together, to show how they are beautifully connected, not separate, components.

His background includes a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which includes acupuncture, herbology, nutrition, exercise therapy (Tai Chi Chuan and Qi Gong), and remedial therapy (massage, Tui Na). He has additionally completed Tibetan Buddhism courses and is continuing advanced courses at Diamond Mountain University.

Scott has worked to cultivate the unique ability to bring ancient teachings into a modern setting, to touch the human heart. He works to inspire students to practice with awareness and intention on the mat and to use the teachings off the mat in everyday life situations. His goal when teaching is to converge compassion and wisdom, art, and yoga.


Students who complete their subsequent training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).


This energetic teacher training course introduces you to the multifaceted world of yoga principles and practice. Through demonstration, lecture, and hands-on, active participation you will explore:

Asana or yoga postures

The detailed study of asana (postures), alignment, grounding, awareness, modifications, contraindications, use of props, mudras (hand gestures), bandhas (energy seals), drishti (focal points), adjustments, enhancements, modifications, corrections, variations, and more.

Finding peace through meditation helps you to learn how to help guide others to focus and quiet the mind. Various meditation styles and techniques will be explored during the program, including Buddhist meditations. Mantra yoga is the yoga of sound.

Anatomy and physiology

Explore human anatomy, and physiology, body planes, body alignment, body systems, the spine, injuries, disease, physical effects of yoga, both benefits and risks, anatomy, and physiology application in asana. The fascia and muscle or skeletal systems are a big focus in this training. You will explore, in very deep detail, functional anatomy and how to diagnose any ailment through anatomy and physiology.

Chakras and nadis

You will also explore the chakras and nadis.

Yogic history and philosophy

The Eight Limb Path of Yoga and Yoga Sutras are the primary source of study. Influential yogis, Sanskrit, ancient yogic texts, and the evolution of yoga from pre-classical to modern-day yoga will be explored. You will go deep into the yoga sutras and Hatha yoga.

Lectures on traditional Chinese medicine and TCM lifestyle

Class creation, class sequencing, adjusting, aligning, demonstrating, cueing, guiding, reading your class, ethics of a yoga teacher, enhancements, modifications, corrections, and variations. Language, Sanskrit, instructing various levels, groups, special health needs, injuries, benefits, and trauma sensitivity yoga will also be discussed. There will be opportunities to teach in a supportive and nurturing environment throughout the program.

Reserva Los Nogales is located in the "Macizo de Peñas Blancas" one of the nucleus of the UNESCO ‘s Biosphere Reserve of Bosawas. A tropical rainforest of 20.000 kilometers square (two million hectares) in size, making it the second-largest rainforest in the western hemisphere after the Amazon.

From Managua Airport, Diamond Heart Yoga can organize a shuttle bus to take you to the place (it is a four hours drive). The place counts with a private waterfall, coffee and banana plantations, a yoga deck on the river, nature trails in the property, hammocks and hanging out spaces.


Peñas Blancas is a fertile area. The fresh rainfall creates a climate for a variety of tropical produce. The land is abundant in special medicinal mountain basil, that will frequently flavor sauces and soups, plus as a tea that may benefit digestion, aid relaxation and soothes illness.

Each meal will consist of a cooked or hot and comforting component balanced by raw and fresh elements with an interesting bounty of fresh fruit. Snacks of hummus and vegetables or energy balls will also be made available.

All meals will be prepared to get the best medicinal plants to experience to cleanse your body before and during ceremonies. You will receive prior the retreat an ayurvedic questionnaire to fill in order to design a more personalized diet per participant. Most of the produce is grown in the reserve.
