This is more than a yoga teacher training program, it is also a recipe for a better life with memories to last a lifetime. You will eat healthy food and be inspired by elevated energy, to cultivate a sense of peace, and happiness. Most of all, Doug and his professional team want to treat you to this amazing adventure of a lifetime with treasured memories to last forever.
Hotel Korinjak is like a beautiful poem and a lovely dream, mindfully poised right on the blue sea where you feel the melody of the afternoon breeze. It is a very enticing hotel with friendly staff preserving the atmosphere of the Mediterranean. This hotel is located on the sea, just a few minutes’ walk to swimming, hiking, and shops.
The rooms are clean and comfortable with amazing views. The restaurant is gifted with scenic views and very tasty, healthy food. Choices include vegetarian and vegan options. You can find good Wi-Fi and helpful staff with wonderful common areas for socializing or relaxing.
Students who complete their training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
This professional 300-hour yoga program is the integration of Vinyasa yoga, Ashtanga yoga, Yin yoga, Power yoga, and Restorative yoga, insuring a balanced and sustainable practice for life. The teaching methods are progressive and mindful to provide you with the highest quality instruction and practice.
Students will enjoy a unique and very balanced program by utilizing both challenging and more restorative practice sessions. The asana practice is mindfully laced together with lectures and classes to educate the students on all aspects of yoga, healthy living, and yoga business. This program supports the individual practitioner’s needs and the experience is enhanced by the beauty and soothing energy of Iz Island.
This unique program inspires students to easily progress with a very organized hands-on learning experience. You can begin the program prior to your arrival, with the foundation home-study portion - using online access for support and guidance.
Once you arrive at Iz Island, you will enjoy 21 days of yoga practice, teaching methods, learning, and cross-training fueled by healthy food and a pleasing atmosphere. This includes informative lectures, optional daily adventures, and time to relax.
This teacher training / retreat is manifested around the concepts of presenting an extraordinary experience, which includes: Presentation of highest quality education, woven together with fun, laughter, healthy food, and fantastic memories to last a lifetime. Additionally, the group size is limited, to assure a more personal atmosphere and greater learning experience.
You will discover inspirational, hands-on education to increase awareness and self-confidence, along with enhancing your physical and mental well-being. Furthermore, enjoying some relaxation and adventure cross-training in order to really feel the beauty and spiritual essence of this sacred land.
If you are here specifically for the yoga certification, you are required to attend all the classes and workshops. If you are not looking for yoga certification, you may attend the daily classes at your leisure. Additionally, everyone can also enjoy the very relaxing common areas for eating, socializing, or just gazing at the blue sea as you enjoy the healing atmosphere of bliss.
The experienced teachers are personal, caring, and professional, yet at the same time, they want you to savor each memorable experience and come to know the comforting feeling of enjoying special moments with good friends.
Note: You will have two days off during this training
Your day could begin with an optional short walk along the sea and followed by a nice cup of herbal tea / or you could practice yoga kriyas.
Now you have earned your tasty breakfast as you gaze out over the blue sea and enjoy socializing with friends. Then after some special moments, take a relaxed stroll under the shady pines or up to the terrace for the midday class.
The midday classes are very relaxed and are often taught outdoors, under the shade trees and centered around informative talks on topics of Yoga History, Philosophy, Meditation, Group (Q&A), Practical Use of Yoga, Enhancing Life, and How to Find Yourself.
Enjoy free time to study, hike, swim, listen to music, or just lounge in the sun, enjoying some fresh fruits or a tasty smoothie. Then again perhaps stroll to the local market or just take a nap and find some quiet time to reflect.
Once again you make your way to the beautiful terrace, for the afternoon asana practice and informative lecture. These classes are usually designed to be less challenging and more of a restorative flow. This afternoon practice session, observation, and teaching will finish with another 30-minute lecture or focus on group participation with teaching techniques.
Morning asana classes are usually more challenging and the afternoons are presented with softer techniques. Most classes will slowly finish with breathing and guided deep relaxation or meditation.
This program embodies the concept that: “Yoga is a work in progress, and problems are often gifts in disguise,” and no less true with yoga travel and adventure. One of the key elements of seeking the yoga travel path can be summed up in this lovely quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson, “Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we will find it not.”

Doug is very well established in the yoga community around the world, through his decades of research, practice, and teachings. Author of four yoga books and 24 videos on Amazon, he is a world-renowned yoga teacher, philosopher, and dedicated health advocate. Doug is revered by many as being a true trail-blazing pioneer of yoga practice in the United States and around the world. He has inspired yoga practice since 1967 when it was yet to become vastly popular - a writer, athlete, surfer, and poet who inspires a healthy lifestyle and creative thinking.
Emma Mackay / ELM Yoga - is a yoga teacher - from Cornwall UK, where she owns a yoga studio and teaches in the beauty of this tranquil part of England. Her yoga experience has included many workshops with world-renowned yoga teachers, along with studies in India where she learned from gurus and teachers adding to her vast experience. Emma is soft-spoken and genuine, with a desire to help others. She has earned many yoga certificates and is qualified to teach a variety of asana classes including both challenging and soft, along with all aspects of a varied and balanced yoga program.
Kirsten is a New Zealand trained physiotherapist and yoga teacher. She was originally from Denmark, she spent 15 years in New Zealand as she trained to obtain Bachelor of Health Science in Physiotherapy and Postgraduate Certificate of Health Science in Western Acupuncture. She has trained with world-renowned yoga professionals, including 300-hour Yoga TT with master teacher - Doug Swenson. Kristen is always a breath of fresh air and a pleasure to learn from. Her students enjoy rich inspiration thru her clarity, and fun-loving sense of humor. Kirsten teaches yoga anatomy with a smile.
Monica holds the 500-hour yoga teacher certificate. She has always been fascinated by the spiritual world, inspiring her to explore different philosophies and on her soul quest. She studied and trained in yoga with some of the best yoga professionals, including world-renowned Doug Swenson with his 500-hour yoga teacher training. Monica is the author of: "MammaFit - in forma dopo il parto" published in 2011 by Giunti Demetra. She teaches Hatha Yoga, Yin, Vinyasa and Ashtanga, yoga adjustments, Power yoga, deep relaxation, meditation, mindful breathing techniques, and Mama Baby yoga.

This unique Island has preserved the spirit of the Mediterranean as it was a dreamy place for wandering souls. You can enjoy hiking, swimming, boating, shopping, or just relax, and eat figs in the sun.
During this program, you will be served healthy, quality meals, beautifully presented, with vegetarian and vegan choices. Meals are mindfully prepared, with a variety of choices. Guest can request diet restrictions and personal choices.
You will be served with a late breakfast, after yoga practice usually 10 to 11 a.m. Dinner is served between 6 to 8 p.m. The atmosphere is relaxing, with wonderful views, plus the employees are very friendly and helpful.

Please book your flight to arrive at Zadar Airport (ZAD). From there, you can take the bus or a taxi to the port to catch the boat to Veli Iz. Once you arrive at Iz Island, a hotel staff will meet you at the boat dock and escort you to the hotel. If possible, arrive one day early to allow for travel delays and a more comfortable journey.
Your second option is flying to Split, Croatia. There are buses from the main bus station in Split to the city of Zadar, it's about a half hour drive. Split is the second-largest city of Croatia and the largest city of the region of Dalmatia. It lies on the eastern shore of the Adriatic Sea, centered on the Roman Palace of the Emperor Diocletian.
Spread over a central peninsula and its surroundings, Split's greater area embraces the neighboring seaside towns as well. An interaregional transport hub and popular tourist destination, the city is a link to numerous Adriatic islands and the Apennine peninsula.
