Food

Sattvic nutrition aligns with the Ayurvedic perspective that food is not merely a source of energy but an important component of holistic health. The choice of food affects not only physical conditions but also mental and emotional states.

Thus, sattvic foods promote a clear mind, emotional stability, and spiritual awareness, enabling a deeper connection with oneself and the surrounding world.

Sattvic foods are characterized by their purity, freshness, and vibrational energy. Key characteristics include:

Freshness:

Sattvic foods should be freshly prepared and consumed within a short period. Stale or processed foods are considered tamasic, as they lack vital energy and can cause fatigue and confusion.

Naturalness and wholeness:

The basis of sattvic nutrition consists of whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds, and legumes. These foods are minimally processed and rich in nutrients that support overall health and vitality.

Lightness and digestibility:

Sattvic foods are generally easily digestible, promoting optimal digestion and nutrient absorption. Examples of such foods include soups, salads, and lightly cooked vegetables.

Sweet, bitter, and astringent tastes:

Sattvic nutrition emphasizes a balance of flavors, particularly sweet, bitter, and astringent, which are believed to promote mental clarity and emotional stability. Foods such as greens, fruits, and whole grains provide these tastes.

Avoidance of stimulants and intoxicants:

Sattvic nutrition involves avoiding stimulants such as caffeine and alcohol, as well as overly spicy or processed foods, which can disrupt mental clarity and emotional balance.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

For your trip, you can book a flight to one of these airports: Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Samui Airport (USM), or Surat Thani Airport (URT). Please note that airport transfers are not included in your package.

The closest airport to Dragon Soul is Koh Samui Airport. Bangkok Airways operates multiple daily flights between Bangkok and Koh Samui, with a flight duration of approximately 75 minutes. After arriving on Koh Samui, a ferry will take you to Koh Phangan, which takes about 30 minutes.

For a budget-friendly option, consider flying to Surat Thani Airport, serviced daily by Air Asia and Nok Air. The flight time is also around 75 minutes. From Surat Thani, a bus will transport you to Donsak Pier, where you can board a ferry to Koh Phangan. The ferry ride from Donsak takes approximately 2 to 2.5 hours.

Arrival by ferry

The most convenient and reliable ferry option to reach Dragon Soul is the Lomprayah Highspeed Catamaran. It departs from Maenam (Pralarn) Pier on Koh Samui and Donsak Pier in Surat Thani. Maenam Pier is about 50 minutes from Koh Samui Airport, while Donsak Pier is roughly 1 hour from Surat Thani Airport.

Be sure to factor in these travel times when planning your journey. Additional ferry options include Seatran, as well as Raja Ferry (car ferry), departing from Donsak.

If you’ll be traveling via Surat Thani Airport, the bus transfer to the pier is usually included in your ferry ticket. While the journey through Surat Thani is longer than flying directly to Koh Samui, it’s often the more economical choice.

Arrival by taxi

Once you arrive at Koh Phangan, local taxis will be readily available at the pier. Simply ask the driver to take you to Dragon Soul Retreat Center. Alternatively, you can arrange a taxi pickup through Dragon Soul for an additional fee of 350 THB per person.

To ensure a smooth check-in, it’s recommended to arrive at the center in the morning or early afternoon on your check-in day.
