Durga's Tiger School Yoga Teacher Training Germany Program

During this yoga teacher training, 65% of the course content will be focused on Tantra yoga, pranayama, and chakra work. Other practices are heyoca, Tantra dance, expressive arts of the being, like shamanic practices, as well as Tantric and shamanic rituals, Durga's tiger dance, and applied Tantric philosophy.

Students will explore the Tantric yogic lifestyle, philosophy, and arts along with experienced teachers. Through the Tantric teachings, students will also learn about the energetic exchange between Shiva and Shakti, the two polarities, and how to integrate sexual energy into their yoga exploration.

Kaula tantra

Kaula Tantra yoga is rooted in Uttara Shaivism or Kashmiri Shaivism, one of the six siva traditions. Students will approach the asanas from a place of relaxation, care, and love for themselves. This yoga style is hence practiced in a slow and flowing manner to build patience and awareness.

Each asana is held gently for a period of time to allow students to relax into the posture. Each individual will find their own unique way of expressing the asanas without the pressure of competing or performing perfectly. Tantra yoga facilitators approach students as whole human beings and discourage the isolation or the forcing of muscles during the exercises.

The priority of these practices is to hold a space of acceptance and love, with only minimal guidance. Over time, students will learn how to meditate holding the postures to connect with the divine forces. This yoga specifically educates the diaphragms and thus, balances every area of life, including sexuality.

Please note that these classes do not involve nudity or sexual contact. In the advanced stages, deeper pranayama practice, bandhas, and mantra practices are incorporated to culture Kundalini energy. The advanced levels are taught at Shri Kali Ashram in southern India.

Durga's tiger dance

Durga's tiger dance is a form of movement developed by Iris Disse, based on yoga energy work and different dance styles as another form through which students learn to improve their creativity and relaxation through body movement. The training also involves voice work through techniques of liberation of the voice, where you will find your own lost voices inside your body.

Applied Tantric philosophy

During this retreat, you will also have theory and practical classes, where you will learn about the philosophy of the Tantric cosmovision and its application in everyday life like massages, work with the senses, and rituals.

Shamanism

Shamanism is a common practice among the Tantra yoga teachers. During the course, shamanistic energy concepts will be explored together with the Tibetan Tantric tradition. There are parallels in the way these two different traditions understand energy, astrology, subtle anatomy, and physiology.

The purification lodge

The purification lodge is an ancient shamanic ceremony where you will create your intent for your teacher training and reconnect with nature, spirit, and your inner self. This sacred ritual will help you to leave a lot of old weight behind and be open to new experiences.

The structure is built to an exact alchemical design out of willow or hazel saplings and before the ceremony, the lodge is covered with blankets and then, a sacred fire is built to heat sacred rocks. Once the rocks are glowing red, you will enter, the door will be closed, and in the darkness, the powers are summoned in as water is poured onto the rocks.

Everybody will have the opportunity to pray for themselves and others as well. The ceremony ends with thanking the powers for their presence and the gifts they have brought you, then you will be purified in all aspects. The sweat that runs from your body carries out toxins, your prayers cleanse your emotions and mental limitations, and your spirit is expanded through a direct connection with the powers.

Tantric dance

Tantric dance is a combination of contact improvisation, movement exploration, and performance. You will discover yourself in a new way by exploring movement on your own, in duets, and with several people.

Healing with sound and voice

You have days for a deep exploration of the healing capacity of voice and sounds.

Location

This retreat will take place at the Center for Experimental Cultural and Social Design or ZEGG, for its name in German, located in Bad Belzig, southwest of Berlin, Germany. The ZEGG is a 15-hectare site surrounded by light and woodland and has a swimming pool.

The ZEGG community is also an international conference center developing and implementing practical models for a socially and ecologically sustainable way of living. Founded in 1991, it has been developed as a colorful and diverse cultural center and a well-known networking hub for communities, engaged scientists, social researchers, and peace activists.

With about 100 adults and children now living there, the ZEGG community has gone through many changes from its beginnings as a relatively homogeneous pioneer group through to today's community woven together from a variety of initiatives, spiritually, and politically active groups, enterprises, artists, and creative political thinkers.

The common thread at the ZEGG community is the quest for new forms of love, sexuality, and the manifestation of personal and global healing. The community comes together regularly in a variety of ways, like the Sundays meeting to exchange ideas on a more intellectual level, meetings to share information, the ZEGG forum, festivals to mark the seasons, music, art, dance, sauna, philosophical debates, or during intensive periods for planning and preparation.

The ZEGG is a place where 30 years of social experience in non-violent community living and many ecological, economic, and spiritual ideas all come together in a practical and vital way forming a living example now for many essential aspects of a life worth living in the future.
