4 Day Immersion Live Online 30-Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training

Online Yoga Teacher Training Course

In accordance with the Yoga Alliance temporary standards, online YTTs can currently receive the same accreditation as in-person courses. To maintain the experience of her in-person YTTs, Eva Maxine Hamilton, ERYT-200, ERYT-500, YACEP has now converted her existing in-depth Yin yoga course to a new online alternative that will primarily be delivered LIVE. And the group will be kept small for a personal atmosphere and great discussions! Learn the origins, unique facets, and skills required to offer safe, beneficial, and meaningful Yin yoga classes. This course will support you to become a confident Yin yoga teacher, as well as share skills to refine your overall teaching of any style.

Program

Pre-application requirements

There are no pre-requisites for this YTT. Just a love of Yin yoga and experience practicing this style. You can take this course to learn more about Yin yoga and build a more dedicated and knowledgeable self-practice.

You will need to find a spot in your home that's generally quiet with a good Wi-Fi signal, a device (laptop, tablet or phone) to access Zoom and Teachable, a basic Zoom account, notebook and pens for extra notes. For your yoga props, please provide yoga mat, 2x blocks, a blanket, a bolster, strap and rubber/tennis ball (or improvise with whatever you have at home! its okay if you don't have all the kit. Get creative.), your digital Yin yoga textbook (download it from teachable and print it if that's possible, but if that's not an option, no stress!), comfy stretchy clothes - pajamas welcome (and I always recommend layers for Yin yoga as we generate less internal heat), water, tea, snacks, and your phone to record your final teaching practicum.

Certifications

The course/hours count as Continuing Education hours for Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®) only.

How the training works

This online Yin yoga course will be facilitated as a 4-day immersion, using Teachable to access your course curriculum and content and Zoom to attend live calls. Teachable is a great professional interface for class videos and extra resources. An organized daily schedule has been built for you there. Teachable contains your textbook, daily yoga practices, extra pre-recorded content, assignment information and more. Lectures and tutorials will be delivered live via Zoom, the conferencing app. This is to allow a more interactive learning experience. The only sections not delivered live will be the morning and evening asana practices, and extra anatomy and assisting tutorials Eva has prepared for you.

Students will receive the 80-page+ Yin section of Eva's textbook. The course content will be available to you (all tutorial videos, guided practices, and lecture recordings) for a minimum of six months following the YTT.

Assessment and certification requirements

There will be a daily quiz, final exam and all students must submit a class plan and a short video of their teaching. The group will complete 28 hours of training together. These assignments are accounted for as your final two hours of training. If you select the course certification option, Eva will review your exam, class plan and practicum and supply you with some supportive and personalized feedback. She truly takes her time in this process to give you thoughtful tips, helping you to refine your skills and grow as a teacher. Once she has reviewed your three assignments, she will send you your certificate!

Please note, it is of extreme importance to Eva, your instructor, to maintain high standards of yoga education and she does not "sell" certification or accreditation hours. You must complete your final assignments to demonstrate safe and beneficial teaching of course principles.

  • Assignment one | written exam

The exam provides a solid review of course content. The group will review the exam together on the last day. Please complete and send your final written exam within two weeks following the conclusion of the live immersion. Eva will confirm a date with your group.

  • Assignment two | class plan

You will also design and submit a class plan for a Yin yoga class. Your class plan should demonstrate course principles, including sequencing and theming, and include a few notes on instructing the poses.

  • Assignment three | video teaching practicum

You will also be required to send a 15-20-minute (max) video of you teaching a short yin yoga practice. You can teach just to the camera or a partner if that is a possibility, although it is understandable that is not possible for everyone just now. This exercise is to see how you incorporate class concepts and ensure you can instruct a safe practice before receiving certification. Eva will watch your video and provide you personal teaching feedback to support your development. This is a good opportunity to receive mentorship and support as a teacher.

Timing of sessions (GMT-5)

The course will be running over two weekends on November 28 and 29 and December 5 and 6, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. EST (GMT-5) for American and Canadian yogis. This is a little later, but still accessible to some friends who may join the course from the UK and Europe. To anyone in the UK and for Eva who is in Portugal, the YTT will run from 1:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. There will be a one and a half-hour break halfway through the day together.

Curriculum / course information

Yin yoga

Yin Yoga is not just "slow yoga."

Yin yoga is a beautiful meeting of traditional Indian Hatha and principles of Chinese Medicine. It is an intentional practice that can benefit tissues in your body often ignored by other styles of yoga and movement. It is a rich offering informed by modern science and ancient meridian theories that have unique importance in a modern world of constant movement & activity. It honors each individual's unique structure, supporting them to find stillness & peace.

Unfortunately, many people receive the impression that yin yoga is just "slow yoga," partially as so many teachers offering Yin classes have no formal training in this style. Learn the origins, unique facets, and skills required to offer safe, beneficial, and meaningful Yin yoga classes. This course will support you to become a confident yin yoga teacher, as well as share skills to refine your overall teaching of any style.

The content of the very comprehensive course includes:

  • Yin Yang philosophy and the Yin method
  • The Daoist origins and modern history of Yin yoga
  • The science of fascia and healthy stretching
  • Anatomical reviews
  • Guiding, propping, and modifying all classic yin poses
  • Assisting tutorials
  • Intro to Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Meridian lines
  • The nervous system and slowing down
  • Sequencing and theming meaningful Yin classes
  • Teaching language and holding space
