Hello, My stay at HIYA was great! The place is very pleasant, has a beautiful garden and is in a very peaceful area. The Dr. gave us loads of contextual information about almost everything we did and what purpose it all serves with regards to our holistic health. It was very informative! The daily schedule did not disappoint, as the activities were counter balanced with just enough free time for self contemplation and reading or just overall relaxing and mental cleansing. Oh my word and the food?! Contributed for 50% of the pleasant stay. Hari, the cook is a real sweet heart and with a constant smile and quick joke, which made the ambiance very light and comfortable. And let us not forget that the food always tasted as good as it looked, he payed a great deal of attention to plate decoration (I scored some cooking lessons). The only down side in my view was the forever omnipresent manager. Wow, the man is like your shade. Everyone else seemed to let us be to ourselves in our free time (I guess we all wanted to be alone at that time), except for him. He was just everywhere, with his eyes planted on our every move, that was quite uncomfortable. Overall I came back with much more than I had imagined and HIYA was definitely a great choice, though I do recommend for anyone heading to a retreat of the sort to be liberated from any expectation, it just makes the experience much more exciting.
Absolutely a great break. Had a chance to do some volunteer works at B.angel secondary school to teach yoga and meditation for the kids during my stay at Himalayan yoga academy as I am a certified yoga teacher for adults and kids. HIYA Team working there were absolutely lovely. I am already missing the momos and the delicious veggy nepali food of our cook Hari. It was pleasure to meet and gather Dr sonadh and his family. Met with lovely young people whom were staying there as well. Looking forward to visit again soon this beautiful green place.

After leaving the airport and driving through Thamel I was overwhelmed & exhausted. I was welcomed with warm arms and friendly faces. I received an Ayurvedic message and was surprised by how different it was from a western message. I wasn't same afterwards but my mind and body were calm & muscles were exhausted. We did some stretching which helped me melt away later that evening. The food was fantastic! No need to worry about the water! They have their own spring and also boil and filter the water! Its ok to savor the fruits and vegetables from the garden. They also grows their own and make their own honey yum! I very much enjoyed the conversation and learning from Dr. Subodh. He is very knowledgeable and is open to answering all the questions you may have. The Syambhunath stupa is a short walk away and its enjoyable to with Nepali life. While touring the surrounding neighborhoods, he was great guide too. I very much enjoyed my stay here & would highly recommend it to other western looking to unwind and get recentered. I also highly recommend a yoga lesson! Namaste!

We stayed two days and one night. I thought it was an excellent bargain, 44 USD for three meals, three yoga or meditation classes and a one hour massage. The yoga is slow and is mostly meditation. One of the classes you move more, but it focuses more on meditation and breathing than I had previously been used to. The staff was really friendly. The instructors were friendly and approachable. The massage was relaxing and excellent. They were always ready to answer questions. Food was decent. Hot showers available. The environment was relaxing. Overall, we had quite the enjoyable stay!

We were apprehensive about coming here as we didn't know what to expect. When we arrived we were greeted by the manager Lala, who was the most friendly little man I have ever met. He took us on a tour of the place and arranged for lunch to be made which we had in the beautiful garden. We stayed for one night and definitely got our moneys worth, we got two yoga classes on the first day including dinner. The chef was lovely, he looked after us very well bringing us tea and water constantly. He also gave us a hot water bottle each before bed. I woke up poorly the next day with a cold and he brought me breakfast in bed and tea on three separate occasions as I was in the upstairs bungalow room. I got a massage which was one of the best massages I've ever had! We paid 40 for the whole trip and it was worth every penny! The yoga instructor gave us a poster and Lala gave us a blessing scarf before we left. They really made our stay amazing and I would definately love to go back. I don't see how anyone can give them a bad review, they are all so polite and attentive as if we were their family, I wish i could stay there all year round!

This is a beautiful place with garden. I like the trees and flower. It is very good to grow plant, the fruits in the garden. I enjoyed my stay here.
The detox and yoga retreat has been excellent. The accommodation I upgraded for most of my stay to a bungalow room in which I have been very comfortable. Great internet access which was unexpected. I have found all the staff generous and friendly. The therapy is relaxing and varied: massages, reflexology, and steam bath. The yoga has been a wonderful balance of stretches, breathing, postures and meditation. The position slightly out of town has beautiful views particularly if you make the short climb further up the hill behind the Yoga Academy. The grounds are green and it is very easy to just relax and enjoy your visit resting in the garden.

I visited HIYA twice, in the course of June and July 2016, each time as a 2-day yoga retreat (overnight stay), with accommodation within the Kailash bungalow. Located slightly away from the buzz of Kathmandu center, HIYA provides a truly beautiful & relaxing atmosphere inviting you to just ... pause for a moment. The place is not easy to find and not necessarily well known from locals (in spite of being around for quite some years now). So best is to announce your visit slightly in advance and get picked up by a cab driver who knows the place well. HIYA works closely with a specific taxi driver, reliable and knowing how to get there easily. This will save you some hassle.
My day started around 06:15 am with introduction to nasal cleansing using a neti pot & slightly salty water. I was then given the opportunity to practice some asanas and to reflect on what yoga genuinely means. If your intent is to become a "pretzel stretching practitioner" strictly, then this might not be the right place, as there is a big part dedicated to understanding yoga in a more holistic & spiritual manner, including pranayama and yoga philosophy. Food is simple, yet tasty, healthy, hygienic.
One of the best parts of the retreat package lies within the therapy offer - I strongly recommend experiencing a massage by Bipana. Her firm & highly experienced hands will work absolute magic on your muscles & joints. She is truly highly qualified. All the staff and Dr. Subodh are kind, helpful and welcoming. Dr. Subodh is highly knowledgeable about yoga, its philosophy & spirituality. His teaching is always accompanied with a good sense of humor & luminous smiles. All the facilities are extremely clean and in good maintenance. The garden is magnificent.

It would be nice if they had spread the message; Himalayas of Nepal- the source of river Ganges and the origin place of Vedic Sanatan Dharma (the root of all the religion, Astrology, Ayurveda, Fengsui, Tantra, Yoga and Meditation). It would be a matter of pride for yoga lovers to be in the pious land of Guru Gorakshanath (the father of Tantra and Yoga) and to practice yoga and meditation from where it was started.

I stayed a HIYA for 5 days, and all of them were one of my favorites on my travels. I needed to de-stress and relax. Dr. Sobudh has unlimited knowledge and yoga and meditation classes were great, learnt so much and improved my Asanas. The food is vegetarian but very good, they will also teach you how to cook. You can go on walks in nature or visit the monkey temple. Staff will help you with just about everything, they are the loveliest. Also we had a lil celebration, we got to dress up in sarongs and experience the local celebration. Felt very special. Highly recommend this place. Enjoy!

After a trek around the Annapurna region and few days in heavily polluted Thamel, I was ready for a change of scenerary. I wasn't sure what to do with my last three days in Kathmandu that is when I found the HIYA brochure.Arriving at the HIYA ground was like stepping into an Oasis in the middle of desolate desert. Further the brochure was not lying when it said they treat you like GOD in field the great service is one of the unique highlights. The magnificent garden well maintained, the food is temtic and the cook extremely accommodating and friendly. The bed and bathrooms were very clean and fresh which was welcome surprise after trekking.I wish HIYA and all its partners all the best and hope more westerners discover the benefits of eastern philosophy / medicines through HIYA and Dr. Subodh.
