Students who complete their subsequent trainings are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).


  • During your eight-week stay, you will sweat out the accumulated negative energies and rise up to your real self, the pure and positive self.


It is required that the students applying for this course have at least six months of Ashtanga yoga practice. You may as well practice under IndeaYoga certified teachers available close to your location. If this is not the case, you may enroll yourself for the Ashtanga yoga Mysore style classes before you start your course in teacher training.

Course curriculum

Month One

Asana practice and technique

One will attend two strong asana practices per day. Morning asanas cover Ashtanga Vinyasa primary or intermediate series. Afternoon practices will primarily incorporate Indea innovation series, back bending, hip opening, and balancing asanas including Adho Mukha, Vrikshasana, and Pincha Mayurasana. Teachers are also engaged in understanding the key points in teaching certain asanas to students.

Teaching of all three series is thoroughly imparted in the following structure by Bharath Shetty, and students are expected to know this detail for each asana by the end of the course and for the exam.

Teaching practice

Applying the above eight-step teaching methodology, students will have taught several sessions by teaching the other teacher training students in a classroom setting. Students will also be required to sit in and observe Bharath and other IndeaYoga teachers who present the Mysore style classes. The aim is for students to gain knowledge of the methodology of teaching that includes the principles of demonstration, instructions, and observation.

Prayers (slokas) and chanting (kirtan)

Students are expected to learn the prescribed opening and closing prayers, their meanings, and also familiarize themselves with chanting few other mantras and kirtans.


A selection of pranayama techniques will be taught and practiced during the course.


Anatomy includes the study of physical human body anatomy, the skeleton, organs and muscles, cardiovascular system, and nutrition.

Philosophy and ethics

This part includes the basics from the study of yoga scriptures, ethics for yoga teachers, and life of a yogi. This includes the meaning of the word yoga, Raja yoga of Patanjali, Panchakoshas, overview of chakras, overview of Patanjali yoga sutras, and Ashtanga (eight-fold) yoga, with a more detailed satsang on selected sutras from chapters one (SamadhiPada) and two (SadhanaPada) of the sutras.


Self-study, study of recommended books, participating in discussion, and practice of all the above-mentioned topics are also expected from each student during the four weeks.

Month Two

Asana practice and technique

One will attend two strong asana practice sessions per day. Morning asanas cover Indea Foundation or Indea Preparatory series. Afternoon practices will primarily incorporate Indea Innovation series, back bending, hip opening, and balancing asanas (including Adho Mukha Vrikshasana and Pincha Mayurasana). Teachers are also engaged in understanding the key points in teaching certain asanas to students.


Students must learn the IndeaYoga opening and closing prayer that are chanted before and after every session.


A selection of pranayama techniques will be taught and practiced during the course.


There will regularly be short sessions of meditation (around 15 to 30 minutes per session).


This session covers a number of conditions and diseases and how to treat these with yoga.


Jalandara Bandha, Uddiyana Bandha, Moola Bandha, and Maha Bandha.


Jalaneti, Sutra Neti, Kaphalabati, Trataka, Shankprakshalana, and Dhouti. In addition to learning the technique, students will have the opportunity to gain personal experience in performing these kriyas during the course.


Yoni mudra, bhairava mudra, hridaya mudra, shambavi mudra, nasikagradristi, shanmukhi mudra, and more.


Patanjali yoga sutra (Raja yoga) - Vibhuti Pada (chapter three), Kaivalya Pada (chapter four), karmayoga lokasangrahah (Bhagavad Gita), and atma (Nirvana) Shataka. The following subjects will be covered too, chakras and Ayurveda principles.

Classes will be conducted from Monday to Saturday for eight weeks.

Students are required to dedicate two to three hours of self-study everyday. Timetable may be subjected to change. Students are also required to not make any other engagements during the course.

The food provided here is Sattvic and only vegetarian. The food menu is standardized and students will be provided with three meals everyday. The food served is mainly organic and nutritional, keeping in mind the requirements of the students practice. All meals will be served in the Dining Hall only and students will not be allowed to eat in the rooms. Fruits and other snacks will be available in the premises which can be bought by the students. Coffee and Tea will also be available throughout the day.
