The physical aspects of this course are based in the Hatha Yoga Pradipika the foundation, which branches out into the variety of modern yoga styles. Their students are introduced to the following styles:
The training runs from 6 am - 5:30 pm from Monday to Saturday. Evenings are for study, practice, and homework. Sundays are off days, but homework, study, reflection, and practice time will be assigned.
Courtney is an ex-gymnast, spinally fused, 20-year yogi, Ashtangi, trained in India, with a 'gypsea' soul whose practice draws from Ashtanga, Hatha, and Vinyasa. Her heart-centered approach evokes an understanding of interconnectedness through a focus on self-love, nature, and Seva (service). The intention is for her students to discover the light within that ignites their path to inner peace, the connection which opens the heart to universal love.
Yoga has been such a wonderful part of Jennifer's life for over 20 years now, and this practice has helped her grow stronger, more flexible, and fearless, both on and off the mat. Yoga inspires her to live each moment more mindfully. She completed her 200-hour training with Sacred Hot Yoga Method and some advanced training in trauma-sensitive yoga, as well as several types of Reiki, Qigong, Tai chi, and other healing modalities. She is also a 300-hour trauma-based RYT through Soulwork.
This first time Madison stepped on a yoga mat was the first time she pulled at a string that seems to be endlessly unraveling. Here she is, years later, pulling and unraveling, pulling and unraveling - only to remember that the work never really ends. This practice has given her power back - the power of being aware enough to learn in every moment. She learned that the only action between wanting to change and change is choice, that the ability to feel is a gift, and that this moment, right here, has all she needs to “know.”
Uvita is a small village in southern Costa Rica. It is notable for its location, where the mountains most closely reach the Pacific Ocean, it is the closest village to Marino Ballena National Park (40 minutes walking, or a 5-minute taxi ride).
This tropical hamlet possesses great charm in an unspoiled and serene atmosphere. With palm trees swaying in the wind, providing shady relief from the intense Pacific sun, there is plenty of outdoor options in this tropical paradise.
Uvita is the major stomping ground of Costa Rica’s whale and dolphin species. The nation’s most iconic and oft-spotted whale, the humpback, spends more than eight months a year in these waters – the longest humpback whale season in the world!
