The Campus, Hospedaje El Bosquecito, is situated on a quiet section of the main road of Uvita. The off-campus housing, Casa Nativos, is situated near the waterfall, just off the main road of Uvita.

Both are located right beside a small creek and forest, guests have the pleasure of being up close to birds, toucans, monkeys, sloths, and iguanas. The sound of the water brings a tranquil atmosphere. Restaurants, banks, and other services are a short walk away.

The accommodations offer guests a serene and peaceful home away from home experience. Each student gets their own bed, (there is no bed sharing). The rooms are equipped with full bathrooms and windows that open to beautiful jungle scenery.

Although hot water is not plumbed into the main house, they do have a hot water shower on site available to all. However, the cool water showers are a welcome treat after a long hot day. Wi-Fi is accessible from the rooms and throughout the house. Fall asleep to the sound of a babbling brook right outside your window!

The accommodations offer an intimate secluded piece of paradise with fresh young coconuts at your disposal. Wake to a plethora of beautiful hummingbirds greeting you in the morning. The night prior to the first day of class is included in your course fee.

Location

Uvita is a small village in southern Costa Rica. It is notable for its location, where the mountains most closely reach the Pacific Ocean, it is the closest village to Marino Ballena National Park (40 minutes walking, or a 5-minute taxi ride).

This tropical hamlet possesses great charm in an unspoiled and serene atmosphere. With palm trees swaying in the wind, providing shady relief from the intense Pacific sun, there is plenty of outdoor options in this tropical paradise.

Uvita is the major stomping ground of Costa Rica’s whale and dolphin species. The nation’s most iconic and oft-spotted whale, the humpback, spends more than eight months a year in these waters – the longest humpback whale season in the world!

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

Please arrange your flight to arrive at Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) or Quepos La Managua Airport (XQP). Quepos La Managua Airport is the closest airport to Uvita (1 hour by taxi). Most students fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) and ride in an InnerSea organized shuttle from there.

Transfer from and to the airport is available upon request at an additional cost (usually between 30 to 50 USD each way). They organize a shuttle to leave from SJO airport at 1:00 pm on Sunday (the day before training begins). The ride takes approximately 3.5 hours.

The driver will meet you outside of Malinche restaurant with a sign. You’ll find the restaurant out and to the right after baggage claim. You are welcome to arrive the night before and find a hotel near SJO, then return to SJO for the 1:00 pm shuttle the next day. If you need additional travel information, please contact the Uvita Information Center.
