During this training, you will:

  • Practice and learn to teach Hatha and Vinyasa yoga, and how to build dynamic flows as well as longer-held sequences targeting actions, energetics, and alignment in the poses with skillful and insightful cueing.
  • Learn the full spectrum of yoga postures, from standing postures to twists, backbends, forward folds, hip openers, seated postures, arm balances, and inversions.
  • Discover how Yin yoga and the practice of long, static holds reshapes our tissues, joints, and fascia as well as your mental agility.
  • Explore Restorative yoga as modern medicine in this practice of re-setting the nervous system, pressing pause on the stress and speed of daily life.
  • Learn how to create full-spectrum practices according to the three pillars of physical, mental, and philosophical yoga practices.
  • Craft safe, effective, and fun sequences from the foundation up to the peak pose, to help your students achieve their goals on the mat using the principles of intelligent body mechanics.
  • Learn how to bring yoga philosophy and other themes into your teaching to create inspiring, meaningful practices that will ignite your students and solidify your own motivation to share the light of yoga.
  • Recharge the body batteries with vital energy as you learn the practical and theoretical techniques of Pranayama, or breathwork practices.
  • Focus inwards with daily meditation practices stemming from both yogic and Buddhist meditation traditions, and be able to confidently lead others in meditation.
  • Study comparative yoga philosophy, including classical yoga, tantra, and vedanta.
  • Keenly observe your students and teach based on what you see, helping your students find their unique expressions of the poses and practice.
  • Get an introduction to classic yoga texts like the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali including the yamas and niyamas, and The Bhagavad Gita.
  • Give appropriate physical assists, learn the art of demonstration, and find your voice as a yoga teacher.
  • Deepen your own personal practice and gain insights into your body, breath, and movement patterns both on and off the mat.

What does your level of asana proficiency need to be?

You do not need to be able to do inversions, arm balances, the splits, or any advanced postures to join this training. All that Jess Rose Yoga ask is that you have a dedicated and regular yoga practice (absolute minimum of one year of practicing at least three times per week).

What certification will you get after the training?

You will get a certificate of completion from Jess Rose Yoga, a Yoga Alliance certified school. With this certificate, you will be able to register with the Yoga Alliance as an RYT-200 (Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200 hour level).

What to expect?

For 23 days (excluding arrival, departure, and free days), you will be immersed in an environment of deep learning through all aspects of the yogic path. The training will be mentally, physically, and emotionally demanding, so please come ready to learn and transform.

Please bring with you a generous amount of patience and compassion for yourself and others. You will spend a minimum of three hours per day on the mat doing asana, so please make sure you build up your practice before the training begins to make the first week or two easier for you.

Poses, philosophical concepts, and practical skills will be broken down in the form of daily workshops and asana labs. You will begin practice teaching starting in week 1, and will continue teaching throughout the training. By the end of week 4, you will have hours of teaching under your belt and will have gained the skills to deliver your teachings to the world.

Beginning at 10 p.m. on all evenings except Saturday, you will practice 13 hours of daily silence / mindfulness meditation. Noble silence will take place from 10:00 p.m. until 11:00 a.m. the following day, once brunch is finished and you begin your afternoon workshop session.

Villa Azul is set in the mellow Canary village of Villaverde. You are a 12-minute drive from epic sand dunes rolling down into the turquoise ocean and breathtaking white-sand beaches. It is perfectly nestled between rolling volcanoes and incredible vistas of the Atlantic Ocean and Lanzarote. Your location is handpicked for its energy and beauty - it is the perfect setting for a yoga immersion.

It is also conveniently located for those wishing to get out and explore the island. There is a local supermarket just a five-minute walk away where you can buy snacks, fresh fruits and vegetables, drinks, and supplies. Also within a few minutes’ walk are a wonderful bakery and two of Fuerteventura’s best restaurants. There are walking paths and a bus stop close by so you can make your way around the island cheaply and easily. You can access the pool at the retreat center as well as energy garden and lots of space for outdoor practice and lounging.

Enjoy delicious and healthy meals at brunch and dinner every day, cooked with love by your in-house vegan chef. You will be nourished throughout the training with plenty of fruits, veggies, and lean proteins to keep your energy high and your stomach happy.

There is a local supermarket less than five minutes away from the retreat center, where you can go to get snacks during your breaks if you'd like. Two of the island's best restaurants are also within a five-minute walk from the retreat center.

How to get there

Arrival by airplane

Your training center, Villa Azul, is a 40-minute drive from the Fuerteventura airport (FUE). To reach Villa Azul, you can either take a bus from the airport (which consists of two transfers and is very affordable), or Jess Rose Yoga can help you arrange a private transfer from the airport.

In private Facebook group, you will be able to coordinate shared taxis with other YTT students depending on your incoming flight times, and they will help you organize everything so your transfer is smooth and stress-free. They will also provide you with the bus route. For airport transfer organized by Villa Azul, the cost is one person 50 EUR, two-person 25 EUR, three-person 20 EUR and four-persons 15 EUR. The car is for four guest maximum.
