Transform your body, your mind, and your practice. You will get the chance to explore different styles of yoga and meditation, learn yoga philosophy and history, understand anatomy and how the human body works among others. This online training will turn you into a highly-skilled, inspirational, and in-demand teacher.
At least one year of regular yoga practice.
Students who complete their training before December 31, 2021, are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
The training will be a mix of live coaching calls with Jess Rose and the group on Zoom, pre-recorded videos, downloadable audio files, reading, writing exercises, and teaching practice. There will also be 90 minutes live sessions weekly.
For the live sessions, there will be a few different time and day options to choose from in order to make sure everyone can participate at a time that works for you!
During the 16 weeks that you meet as a group, your weekly schedule will look something like this:
This is a more dance-like, choreographed style of yoga that focuses on fluid, seamless transitions between postures. These transitions are just as important as the poses themselves and are a way to explore yoga as a practice of meditative movement that ebbs and flows and eventually peaks. The focus is less on alignment and static holds, and more on creativity.
Hatha yoga broadly covers any of the physical practices of yoga. This could mean practicing the postures, breathwork, cleansing practices for the organs and other systems of the body, energy work, and more. In the modern yoga studio, Hatha yoga is presented as longer-holds (between 5-10 breaths) in the postures with a focus on refining the actions of the pose once you’re in it. You will focus on active muscular engagement to provide stability and support, moving energy throughout the body for enhanced flow of prana and vitality, and taking the time to find, but also understand individualized alignment.
Based on the Chinese Meridian system and Daoist philosophy, this is a practice of passive, long-held stretches and stresses (in a good way) on the tissues. Focusing on the connective tissues, such as the fascia, joints, ligaments, and tendons, this meditative practice is all about taking your time in the poses (anywhere from 30 seconds to up to around 10 minutes or more in a posture). The practice of Yin aims to lubricate the joints, create more freedom in the tissues, target specific organs for optimal health, and train the mind, simultaneously.
Originally created based on the teachings of BKS Iyengar, this therapeutic practice is aimed at slowing down and relaxing the central nervous system. Like Yin, the poses are held for many minutes at a time, but unlike Yin, the aim is not to experience sensation in the poses. You will use lots of props (like straps, blocks, and bolsters) to fully support the body and tap into a deep state of rest and relaxation. This practice is great medicine for anyone who is overwhelmed, stressed, going through trauma, or big life transitions, as well as anyone needing quiet, stillness, and calm (aka all of us!)
The schedule is self-paced over the course of 16 weeks. During these 16 weeks, you will have between 10-12 hours of training per week. If you need more time to complete the program, that's absolutely no problem! You will have 8 months in total to finish your training and receive your certificate.
