This 200-hour nature immersion yoga teacher training in The Kootenays, British Columbia is an adventure of a lifetime offered by Kootenay Yoga School. Celebrate a disconnection from all that distracts in day-to-day life, immerse in nature in a unique off-grid experience, and expect a stunning background to your day.
The base team of Kootenay Yoga School will be providing you with a prepared and comfortable home camp. Tents, bedding, mattresses, and supplies will be provided. You will need to simply arrive with your personal belongings and your mat, block, and strap.
Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
This program is designed to support students in an authentic natural learning environment, where you will totally immerse in the study, deepen your practice, and truly feel the mountains. The yoga space is natural. Prepare for practicing on a surface that is not as consistently flat as your home studio!
Your days will be diverse! They will not be all on the mat. You will not be all in the books. The program is intended to be immersive and inspiring. You will move, engage in fulfilling discussions, support one another, and celebrate all that nature has to offer - uninterrupted.
Expect a supportive peer group, and the school will appreciate this from you too! Arriving with a sense of adventure and dedication to a remarkable experience will be really appreciated. The aim is to form a positive and uplifting learning space out in the forest!
The 200-hour certified yoga foundations course is designed to deepen your practice and give you the tools to guide your very own dynamic, original, safe, and well-rounded yoga class upon graduation.
Practice, practice, practice will be the central theme for this 15 day-long training. With daily practice of asanas, pranayama, and meditation, as well as engagement in discussion, debate, and discourses, the aim is to go beyond the theoretical and to embody the multidimensional yoga experience.
After graduation, students / teachers will be teaching from personal experiences rather than a memorized script.
This program covers many styles and provides a well-rounded level of exposure. The program will primarily focus on:
Enjoy relaxing evening seminars around the fire - under the stars and in the quiet darkness of the Kootenay Boundary Mountain Range.
Sarah is a fun loving adventure seeking yogi with a passion for travel and learning. With an extensive teaching history and a true desire to spread the love of wellness, Sarah brings a fun and relaxed approach to learning.
Elizabeth Jane “EJ” (E-RYT 500, Certified Sound Healer and Breathwork Facilitator) creates a safe, nurturing space that allows for a bit of magic, inner healing, and moments to touch the divine within us. She has served as lead teacher for multiple 200hr Yoga Teacher Trainings around the world from India, to Malta, to Indonesia, to Mexico. She founded and hosts a Sound Healing Certification Course in Breckenridge, Colorado. To her, these ancient tools (Breathwork, Sound, and Yoga) serve as profound medicine that help us return to our inquisitive, joyful, natural Self.
The program will be facilitated from Kootenay Yoga School's base camp, deep in the mountainous region of the Kootenay Boundary region. Students will wake to the sounds of playful robins and squirrels, practice under old-growth cedars, study creekside, and unwind by evening campfires under the stars.
During the training, you can expect simple meals. Three home-cooked vegetarian meals will be prepared for you daily, designed with your nutrition in mind - healthy, fresh, and energy-sourced. They will feature local offerings and the best of the Boundary's seasonal bounty.
All of the meals will be made with careful consideration for your nutrition and fueling your body in an energy-sustaining way. You can plan to enjoy plenty of hearty salads, vegetable-rich soups, roasted vegetable medleys, and protein-rich greens.
