The Krishna Village can host up to 60 people in a combination of rooms, dorms and camping spots. There are usually around 25 full time volunteers who work in organic gardens and maintain the grounds, 10 long-term community members and 15 to 25 retreat guests or Karma yogis. All rooms have shared amenities. The amenities include showers, toilets and a coin operated laundry. Common areas include the kitchen and campfire area (the heart of the Krishna Village), the reading and the yoga hall, where classes take place.

Single and double rooms

The Krishna Village has 6 double and 11 single rooms. They are all set in former shipping containers, that have been renovated and turned into simple but comfortable accommodation.

For some of the volunteers and yoga teacher trainees, Krishna Village provides dorms (1 male, 1 female, each for up to 4 people) and one double room. The dorms are simple but practical and have bunk beds and wardrobe space for your belongings.

Camp ground

Set among beautiful mango and lychee trees in the eastern garden, Krishna Village Eco Yoga Community camp ground can host up to 20 tents and 5 camper vans. The area for the vans is equipped with electricity. The amenities block is only 50 meters away.

In modern societies, yoga has been deconstructed to be only a shadow of its complete whole. It is far from the complexity and power of the original yogic wisdom, which spans all areas of life and provides a holistic system of health, wellbeing and spiritual connection. At the Krishna Village, you will revive and learn yoga in its wholeness, so you can be a yogi, rather than just do some yoga. Krishna Village Eco Yoga Community Teacher Training is, therefore, a full immersion program that spans 200 hrs and will allow you to experience yogic living in its entirety. From daily morning yoga to seva in organic gardens, from philosophy classes to healthy food preparation, from kirtan singing to mantra meditation, you will live and breathe yoga, while being immersed in a kind, loving and supportive community. You will not only learn all required practices to become a fully accredited yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, but you will also gain teaching practice with real students.

    Magical land of happiness!!

    CONS Cons: Leaving!

PROS Pros: Everything about my week here exceeded expectations like I can't explain. The people are all amazing, the yoga was great and tailored more towards beginners which was nice after a yoga break of a few years! The accommodation is basic but clean and all you need.

"I had the most relaxing time at the Krishna Eco Yoga Community. The yoga was excellent, with a variety of teachers and style, and the atmosphere created at the village is one of kindness, calm and generosity towards each other. The place itself is beautiful, the food fantastic, and it is up to each of the participants to take part in yoga classes, talks and other activities. "

"After 8 days at the village I feel rejuvenated and resourced. I would recommend it to anyone who needs a break and some quiet time! "

"I stayed in Krishna Eco Yoga Village with my friend for a one week yoga retreat, and what a treat it was! Accommodation was clean and comfortable, the shower/toilet block was not far from my room, with showers which worked well. There was a convenient open plan kitchen with a large storage fridge, a large stove, kettles, and a toaster. The setting is delightfully picturesque, and the atmosphere friendly and calming. The three daily meals provided were vegan/vegetarian and it was delicious. The yoga classes were lively, non judgmental always, informative. For sure, I shall be returning."

"I really enjoyed my stay at the Krishna Village Eco Yoga Community. After 7 month of traveling i felt kind of burned out and this was the perfect place to recharge my batteries and reconnect to myself. The accommodation is simple but very clean and absolutely sufficient. The people are awesome and the food is incredible. I enjoyed the different yoga styles which have been taught. For me I can say the 8 days changed my life. I look after myself even better and I am very keen on learning more yoga now. I can recommend this place with no doubt. I came out a relaxed and very happy Ines!"

The people are really friendly and that reflexes on all the travelers. My daughter didn't want to leave (she even got to milk a cow for her first time). Thank you very much Henrike and Mandrea!"

"My partner and I had a truly magical experience at the yoga retreat. Even on our first day of being in the Krishna Village, we were feeling the benefits already. Fuelled with abundance of energy and overwhellmed with happiness and a sense of belonging so much, that I consider quitting my job and stay with them instead to volunteer. Krishna Village is the perfect escape from reality, really helps you bring back to earth and begin a journey of self exploration, reconnect with nature together with your body, mind and soul. It wa so refreshing to be sorrounded everyday by lush green rolling hills and the soothing sounds of nature. Permanently being in a meditative state from the amazing sorroundings. We really would go back in a heart beat and highly recommend it to everyone. Thank you to all the team and volunteers at the Krishna Eco Village Yoga Community, it was a vary special and memorable experience. "

  • Review by a traveler from Newcastle, Australia

"I commenced my yoga studies at Krishna Village in January after tossing up whether to travel to India for my studies or not. Due to my family situation staying in Australia was the best option for me at the time, and Krishna Village, with its emphasis on Indian philosophy, seemed like a really good second choice in which it was."

"I stayed at the village as a yoga student for six weeks, and I absolutely LOVED the place. Living in a community like this is something I've never done before however it was a great experience. It was pure bliss. Everyone had an interesting story to share and were there for the same reason; to seek spiritual - or self growth which created this amazing atmosphere. We shared some beautiful conversations over meals. A perk of the place is all the volunteers, as you meet people from all around the globe with very fascinating stories to tell. "

"As yoga teacher students we were not forced to attend any temple ceremonies as this was something we could choose ourself, in which I appreciated. 2 out of 3 meals do get served at the temple, so all students, volunteers, and guests eat there twice a day unless cooking for themselves at the village kitchen which also is an option. Personally I really enjoyed eating at the temple as it was social and nice sitting side my side on the floor sharing a meal as a group. The temple food tasted yummy, but you wouldn't go there to loose weight. There's a lot of sugar and saturated fat in the temple food/drinks. The lunch we ate at the village was absolutely delicious and very healthy, however it is not 100% organic nor are the juices. Not a biggie, just worth mentioning as I didn't know this was the case to start with."

"Every Sunday night there's a Sunday feast at the temple where they serve food for the Krishna Village and broader community. You can borrow a sari from the village if you would like to get dressed up, which was fun. "

"Krishna Village is a little peace of heaven where the people (especially the yoga students and the volunteers) make the place, and I really believe this is just the beginning for Krishna Village and I can't wait to see where they are in a year or two. There's so much awesome potential! I am really glad I did my yoga teacher training there. "

"This place is a gem, it takes you to a different dimension of living, there is an organic farm and almost all meals are prepared with fresh picked vegetables and fruits from the garden. Accommodation is sweet and simple, I stayed in a single room cabin and it was very comfortable, outside there is a leafy balcony where you can relax in serenity of singing birds. There are three Yoga classes a day, run by different teachers, international and locals, lots of workshops and short courses. Massage is quite good too, I had only one session with Claire and it was good, I heard that other massage therapist are very good too. The food is AMAZING! Pure heaven for all vegetarians, vegans and fussy gluten free-ers like me. There is a creek with aka a "Massage Rocks" , 30 mins walk or 5 mins drive from the village, Jacuzzi by nature in beautiful tranquil settings. For quiet time and meditation you can walk to the Lotus Garden, that is 10 mins walk from the village. Overall, it's a special place where I met wonderful people and created a space in my heart filled with harmony and good vibes."

"During Damien's time teaching permaculture, he was able to bring clarity to such a complex subject of knowledge. He was able to understand the level of knowledge of the students in the class enabling him to explain and teach in a way that is suitable to that level. He expressed passion for the topic and shared the many years of experience he has in permaculture in an easy and informative manner. He was also willing to take time to those that were unsure of any part of the course. He was accommodating and he made it a safe and exciting learning space for me and all others"

"Damien did a fantastic job in teaching this PDC, though. He was on point for the entire class. He spoke eloquently and passionately. He knew all of the material without hesitation and provoked us all to thought and action. His presentation and knowledge base was a compliment to the course and I walked away with a deeper understanding and appreciation of Permaculture because of Damien's teaching and passion. "

"I had the chance to meet Damien during my PDC in Jordan, 2016 where he was co-teaching with Geoff Lawton. He was objective, passionate, dedicated and with a lot of care for students, giving a good step by step thru design and always adding a personal and practical input of his field experiences. He showed good skills in managing not only class subjects and timings but above all human relations and its psycho-sociological delicacies. I foresee a good career with great success."

"Damien used the designers manual, added facts, visual depictions and personal experiences to demonstrate the versatility and practicality of Permaculture. The ease and earnestness with which Damien was able to answer questions helped motivate and encourage budding Permaculturists like myself in our own personal journey. For me personally I really appreciated his accessibility outside of classes. Damien was always open for questions and would take time to explain answers. Damien is an awesome instructor and instrumental addition to the Permaculture movement.”"

"The Krishna Yoga community is a beautiful, inspiring green home away from home. I stumbled upon the Krishna farm as I was seeking a Yoga retreat and a week away from my hectic city life, although the yoga was gentle and cleansing, it was the community of beautiful, kind spiritual seekers, travelers and like minded souls that inspired me the most. The entire property is truly heaven on earth, set amongst the rolling green hills of the Northern Rivers and a short distance from the dramatic Mt Warning. The property is a sanctuary of bountiful vegetable gardens, shared community and dining spaces, a yoga hall, grazed paddocks and high on the hill, the temple of the Hare Krishna community. Guests can choose to pay for a Retreat, a daily fee which includes a daily meals (An incredible mix of raw and vegetarian/vegan meals shared in fellowship at the Hare Krishna temple), twice daily yoga practice, life coaching and spiritual dharmic talks, as well as the option for massage and healing therapies. Alternatively travelers, or WOOOFING volunteers can participate in karma yoga/ board in exchange for farming/ harvesting or gardening work. Accommodation ranges from shared dorms, single rooms, camping spaces and parks for a van. The community of transient travelers and the resident staff truly make the Krishna village a magical and transformative experience. Stay a week, a month or many months at a time, it will certainly leave a warm impression on your heart long after you go home..."

"I visited Krishna Village for a week and attended a Balinese massage course. Both my stay and the course were amazing. The village and surrounding nature is so peaceful, I felt an enormous calmness as soon as I stepped out of my car. The organization and the people who live there make you feel at home straight away. The massage course by Dee and Caren was one of a kind; they are wonderful people and teachers and gave the participants the confidence to massage with their heart. The results were amazing. The Krishna devotees at the Temple are very friendly and open to tell you about Hare Krishna, without judging you if you have other viewpoints. And they know how to cook delicious food! All in all I had a unforgettable time and would love to visit this special place in the (near) future."

"“Life Changing!” I went on a one week retreat expecting to do some yoga and relax. What I got was a profound spiritual awakening , on a piece of property that could be the garden of Eden. The retreat sits just at the bottom of the majestic mountain which houses the temple. With fruit and nut trees scattered all of the property one can never go hungry. We were fed 3 vegetarian meals a day that were lovingly prepared and delicious even for the most avid meat lover. The rooms were clean and fresh. Simple and rustic making me wonder what more could one need to live in bliss. What is really special about this place is how you are welcomed and embraced into a family of strangers who work together to create the absolute haven. The yoga and meditation were on another level that words could not describe. I will be back many times to this garden of eden as amongst strangers. I have never felt more at home."

"“Great relaxing retreat!” I came for a one week yoga retreat to get away from city life. All the staff were really friendly and had a great warmth to them. The yoga teachers were the most advanced I'd met and had a wealth of experience in all kinds of different yogic styles. I learnt a great deal even from just a few classes. I really enjoyed the location (Yoga village) being on the cusp of rain forest and the sounds of the beautiful birds in the morning. The surrounding farmlands and friendly cows also added so much to the experience. The food was also amazing and I came out of it feeling as light as a feather."

I did the intensive weekend massage course and it was life changing. The trainers were supportive and encouraged us to develop our own style from the start. I love massaging and I had no idea! "The most perfect week! I've just spent a week at Krishna Village Eco Yoga Community over New Year and the whole experience was incredible! We'd start the day with an early yoga and meditation session, then wander up to the temple for vegetarian breakfast. We had time to relax before a workshop type event in the yoga hall, normally for a discussion where I have learned so much. Afterwhich, We would have a raw lunch with produce picked and grown from the farm. We had more yoga sessions at 5pm. We were served yummy dinners and then we went to bed. To top it all off, I've made some amazing new friends.Everyone should experience the Krishna Village. The world would be a much kinder and calmer place."

"I stayed here for a week, basically to recuperate after illness. I found the atmosphere to be very quiet, healing and soothing. I slept so soundly in a room (away from the camp kitchen) looking out into bush or rainforest and awoken each morning by the stunning birdlife calls. As has been said before, this is not meant to be 5 star accommodation, but you have everything you need and management are obliging with any requests made. For me the cool air, natural environment, peacefulness and lush green surrounds were everything I was craving. The vegetarian food, I have to say, Im quite addicted now."
