Day 2

  • 08:00 TTP Meditation, breathwork, and group asana

Your classes will always begin with a breath of fire. It's an upregulating breath that stimulates the sympathetic nervous system which gives you energy for physical activity and helps clear out the nasal passages so you are able to control the breath easier in practice.

You exhale sharply through the nose and allow the inhalation to happen automatically. This will be broken down and it will be practiced before every asana throughout the training.

  • 09:00 - 10:00 TTP: standing forward fold, techniques

You will discuss and break down the proper form of the posture by practicing techniques through a demo of the body and discussion (1 hour)

  • 10:00 - 12:00 You will be discussing the sagittal plane and the dysfunctions of the spine and how to notice it on a student and how to modify it

Live Breathe Yoga Ventures and Academy never diagnose or treats this is just for you to notice on your students so you can serve them the best in their practice). You will also be hands-on teaching in pairs, assisting, and modifying. Applied and practical anatomical learning of spinal anatomy, physiology, and discussing spondylosis, scoliosis, kyphosis, and loradorces (2 hours)

  • 12:00 - 14:00 Lunch and break
  • 14:00 - 16:30 Stabilization core as pertains to the spine, and twisting, sun salutation A & B. Anatomical terms of movement: medial, lateral, superior, inferior, etc.

  • 16:30 - 18:30 TTP Yoga practice, movement with breath with posture, asana review.

Series breakdown and practice teaching in groups of 2.Sun Salutes are the foundation of a Vinyasa yoga practice. Sun Salute A always begins in Mountain pose and ends in Mountain pose. It's important to remember that the inhale takes your movement up/forward and the exhale takes you down/backward (2 hours)

  • 18:30 - 20:00 Dinner break
  • 20:00 - 21:00 TTP Hip opening and restorative yoga rag doll is a simple forward bend variation and like all simple poses, the challenge is to make it challenging

If you engage your legs and align your body properly, this pose can be quite difficult and it can transform the mobility of your hamstrings. The breath is a must when it comes to the hamstrings (1 hour)

9.5 hours of contact hours by lead instructor Bridget Gibbs

Day 3

  • 06:30 - 08:00 TTP Meditation, breath work and group asana and different types of yoga, like Kundalini (1.5 hours)
  • 08:00 - 09:00 Breakfast
  • 09:00 - 10:00 YPLE The definitive guide to the philosophy and practice of yoga–the ancient healing discipline for body and mind.

  • 12:00-14:00 Lunch and break
  • 14:00-16:30 YPLE Yoga philosophy and lifestyle continuum (2.5 hours)
  • 16:30 - 19:00 YPLE Methodology: theory and practice of yoga teaching

The practice of yoga cultivates sensitivity, flexibility, compassion, knowledge, and peace. Teaching yoga requires the same qualities and is a practice of yoga in itself. An instructor will encourage and inspire students, offering both the community and individual compassion and awareness.

How to make adjustments with the instructor example, voice, and touch, evaluation, Observation of series, counter poses, movements, how to adjust the classes, Ability to demonstrate, The use of props, themes, patterns, focus guidance, student / teacher relationship ethics, and practice (2.5 hours)

  • 19:00 - 20:00 Dinner
  • 20:00 - 21:00 Study time (non-contact with lead instructor) (1 hour)
  • 8.5 hours of contact hours, 1 hour of non-contact hours

Day 4

  • 18:00 Meditation, breathwork, and group asana (1 hour)
  • 19:00 Dinner break
  • 20:00 TTP Half push up and pushups are the foundation to build strength in balance poses yet it is rarely done correctly in a yoga class

Most students collapse into the pose. Less is more: a baby bend in the elbow is preferred over a banana-back trying to go lower. Take it step-by-step slowly and focus on control.

Learning not to give up on your students and don't let them take a knee in a half push-up, it’s not the same pose and most people won't get off their knees won't stop. You will use blocks to show proper alignment and discuss how to help your students build the strength for a half push up. Queuing for the core, quads, spine lengthening, etc. Arm balance postures and modifications will also be discussed (1 hour)

  • 21:00 TTP Group asana, meditation, and breathing (1.5 hours)
  • 3.5 hours of contact hours, 2 hours of non-contact hours

  • 12:00 - 14:00 Lunch and break
  • 14:00 - 16:30 Side angle and reverse side angle pose breakdown, anatomy, and queuing

Side Angle is extremely difficult to teach because students tend to turn into resting on the leg pose rather than engaging, twisting, screwing your legs into your mat, and lengthening in the pose. Reverse side angle is a big twist when done properly; one of the deepest twists we teach in group classes. In both poses, the setup and instruction are key to progress (2.5 hours)

  • 16:30 - 18:30 Finding your voice, practice teaching, and adjusting

Wide leg stretch variations are taught in most yoga classes, but they are often taught with very little body awareness or engagement, practicing a variety of different forward bends to challenge (and develop) your mobility in new and different ways. Your job as a teacher is to make sure students are active in this pose, not just flopping forward. Partners assigned, partner homework assigned (2 hours)

  • 18:30 - 20:00 Dinner
  • 19:30 - 21:30 Lightly touches on different types of yoga that you can offer, like workshops, or deepen current students' practice.
  • 8 hours of contact hours

Day 6

  • 08:00 Meditation, breathwork, and group asana (1 hour)
  • 10:00 - 12:00 Partner homework (2 hours)
  • 12:00 - 14:00 Lunch and break
  • 14:00 - 17:00 You will be discussing the pelvis and the SI joints and how they are used in certain yoga poses and how to strengthen them. Pelvic floor, deep-six muscles, and hip tightness (3 hours)
  • 17:00 - 18:30 Teaching, queuing, and adjusting wide leg stretch A, B, and C
  • 18:30 - 20:00 Dinner
  • 20:00 - 21:30 Study time
  • 9 hours of contact hours

Day 7

  • 08:00 Meditation, breathwork, and group asana (1 hour)
  • 09:00 Breakfast
  • 10:00 - 12:00 TTP discussing pelvic locks, balance, core, and verbal cues breaking down. Extended leg pose combing balance, flexibility, and even core strength into a simple-looking pose. It's a challenging posture that can frustrate even the most dedicated student (2 hours)
  • 12:00 - 14:00 Lunch and break
  • 14:00 - 16:00 Teaching Sun A & B, warrior 1 & 2, Side angle chair (2 hours)
  • 16:30 - 18:30 YPLE The definitive guide to the philosophy and practice of yoga–the ancient healing discipline for body and mind–by its greatest living teacher. Light on yoga (2 hours)
  • 18:30 - 20:00 Dinner
  • 20:00 - 21:30 TM Breathing and meditation, heart rate variability, and nervous system breakdown and understanding, moving through the room and using your voice in peak poses. The Heart of Yoga, by T.K.V. Desikachar (1.5 hours)
  • 8.5 hours of contact hours

Day 8

  • 08:00 Meditation, breathwork, and group asana (1 hour)
  • 09:00 Breakfast
  • 10:00 - 12:00 TTP Tree pose shows up in nearly every yoga class in the world

Since it's a simple pose, many students place their foot inside of their thigh and stand there. Your job as a teacher is to encourage activation, help students not stick their bum out, and teach engagement in this asymmetrical standing pose. Discussing the gase (drishti), bonda locks, core stabilization, and balance queue and practicum. Practice teaching using engaging and queuing (2 hours)

  • 12:00 - 14:00 Lunch and break
  • 14:00 - 16:30 TTP Wheel pose is a pose many students try to skip

They'll lie on their back and complain if given the opportunity. Your job as a teacher is to break down the pose into four steps that way every student participates, even if it just steps one. You’ll break down the steps, practice teaching, important alignment queuing, and assists (2.5 hours)

  • 16:30 - 18:30 TTP Yoga practice, movement with breath with pose, sun salutation A & B

Practice teaching with breath from Sun A all the way through to tree pose and break up into groups teaching, assisting, and modifying (2 hours)

  • 18:30 - 20:00 Dinner
  • 20:00 - 21:00 TTP shoulder stand is sometimes referred to as the "yogi gas station" of all yoga poses (with headstand being the big daddy)

One of the great benefits of all inversions is they require diaphragmatic breathing which has a calming, parasympathetic dominant effect on the body. It also changes blood pressure and circulation in a positive way.

This pose is very safe, but you should not adjust students physically here (because of the neck) and simply allow them to find their own way. Expressing the importance of the head and neck staying forward and not turning the neck. You will break this pose down section by section and then practice and teach it (1 hour)

7.5 hours of contact hours

Day 9

  • 08:00 Meditation, breathwork, and group asana (1 hour)
  • 09:00 Breakfast
  • 10:00 - 12:00 TTP Plow Pose is a basic forward bend, just upside down

For many students with a limited range of motion, this pose can be too intense for their lower back, so they might need to halfway, bend their knees slightly, or modify at first. Pose breakdown, how to use props under the feet if necessary, and Anatomy of the spine (2 hours)

  • 12:00 - 13:00 Lunch and break
  • 13:00 - 14:00 TTP Practice teaching bridge, wheel, shoulder stand, plow, and ear pressure pose
  • 14:00 - 14:30 TTP Forward bends, arm balances, and stabilization

Teach this in steps one-by-one. Students can always stop at whatever step they feel "stuck" at, but they need to practice-everyone practices. The final pose (full headstand) is a process and will come naturally and comfortably when the student is ready. It should not be dangerous or involve any jumping around.

Slow pace, patience, and control are required, safety queuing, and importance of no kicking up or never practicing this pose against the wall and the dangers of this in the neck and benefits or the neck and shoulders. Dolphin is a great way to build up strength and mobility for headstands.

You will spend the whole time discussing all the benefits, and cautions, practice one by one with the lead trainer before we split off into groups of 2 (2.5 hours)

  • 16:30 - 18:30 TTP Yoga practice, movement with breath with pose, child's pose is taught in just about every yoga class.

You will be taught somewhat differently. Knees wide apart, arms stretched out in front of you and pressing back extending the spine, using your breath to open up the ribs, hips, chest, and shoulders.

They will include final relaxation as a "pose" ( corpse pose or savasana) otherwise many students will skip it and simply run off after class. Final relaxation is a time for both the body and mind to release, focus, and integrate the experience of the class. Your job as a teacher is to encourage students to relax completely, embrace stillness, and surrender.

The different brain wave patterns in this pose into delta and the importance of this final resting pose and how to finish out the class with this practice giving your students the best experience for their mind, body, and nervous system. Placing cold rags on students' heads with a slight essential oil, this also helps a good Vagal tone, something you will discuss in many group lectures (2 hours)

  • 18:30 - 19:30 Dinner
  • 19:30 - 21:00 TM The balancing effect yoga has on the nervous system is very powerful

Ocean breath (ujjayi) sounds like snoring or a Darth Vador breath, balancing breath, practice used in nearly every class in most postures. Practice deep backbends, and counterbalances poses and practice. Camel breathing is the 4x8 breathing practice which is great for deep relaxation and sleep. You will learn alternate nostril breath and what that means if you have a certain dominance in the left or right nostril (1.5 hours)

10 hours of contact hours

  • V. Book of Reports (10 HOURS)
  • V. Yoga Journal (50 HOURS)
  • Non-contact hours: 60 hours

Must have all pre-course items done to receive certification and attend all classes and sessions in the syllabus before you will be fully certified. Syllabus subject to change.

Location

About Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is a small island located only 8 miles off the eastern shore of Cancun. This picturesque Caribbean island moves at an idyllic pace compared with Cancun, which you will feel crossing the bay. This makes the location ideal for inexpensive flights into Cancún International Airport and a short 20-minute ferry ride from Puerto Juarez.

With the Gulf of Mexico on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other, it's no wonder that Isla Mujeres is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. You'll think you've found paradise as you enjoy the balmy temperatures and relax on completely on the island's silky white sand next to the deep turquoise and blue waters.

At just over 4 miles long and only around 1/2 a mile wide, it’s a tiny Mexican outpost with a Caribbean flavor and a special place in Mayan history. The name of the island is Spanish for "Island of the Women". Isla Mujeres was so named because of the presence of female stone idols found in temples on the island when Conqueror Francisco Hernández de Cordoba arrived in 1517.
