You will stay at Yog Niketan Ashram and Wellness Retreat. Yoga Niketan is one of the oldest yoga ashrams in Rishikesh. It is situated on a gentle hill by the bank of the holy river Ganga. It was established in the year 1964 by Yogacharya Swami Yogeshwarananda Saraswati Maharaj Ji with the sole purpose of spreading yogvidya and spirituality in the world.

Yoga Niketan ashram has approximately 100 well-ventilated air-conditioned, non-air-conditioned, and cooler rooms for the sadhaks. Each room has a private bathroom with 24 hours of hot and cold water and electricity.



Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

This 100-hour yoga teacher training course is designed to train students to learn the art of yoga and its lifestyle. They will be trained in several aspects of yoga - from asanas to philosophy, anatomy, Vedic chanting, pranayama, yoga Nidra, kriyas, meditation, teaching practicum, and teaching methodology to prepare them to become yoga teachers. This basic training will prepare you to teach yoga around the world.

Style - this training is based on Iyengar Hatha yoga style but there would be a blend of Vinyasa flow, Ashtanga yoga, and traditional Hatha yoga.

The main focus would be the alignment of the body so you can protect the body and achieve the maximum benefits of the asanas.

Methodology - the art of learning and teaching

Learning requires - a willingness to learn, surrender, and commitment. Once that is set, then you need discipline.

Thus, you learn to set the classroom, understand the different types of body and their strength according to sequencing, instructions, demonstration, adjustment to learn.

Syllabus of the 100-hour yoga teacher training course

  • Yogasana (postures)
  • Hatha yoga tradition
  • Anatomy and physiology in relation to yoga: prevention of illness etc.
  • Pranayama - different breathing techniques (Nadi shodhan, surya bhedana, kapalabhati)
  • Shatkarma - Noulli-Neti dhouthi-tratka
  • Yoga Nidra (progressive relaxation)
  • Chakra systems (energy centers)
  • Bhakti yoga - bhajans, Satsang, kirtan
  • The Eight Limbs of Yoga from Patanjali (10 sutras of the 1st chapter of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras will be discussed elaborately. Ashtanga yoga is the foundation of Hatha yoga. During the class, you will understand what the Eight Limbs of Yoga mean)
  • Different orientations and teachers of yoga
  • Yoga philosophy: four paths of yoga - Hatha, Raj, Gyan, Bhakti yoga
