The monastery which will be your home during the retreat makes important contributions to the preservation and sharing of Buddhist teachings. Thus, your stay there helps fund education programs for many young monks from remote areas of Nepal. The lovely guesthouse in the monastery grounds has spacious and modern rooms, comfortable beds for a deep and refreshing sleep, all with the contemporary benefits of attached bathrooms and hot showers (many rooms also have balconies). The yoga space overlooks the rice paddies of the Kathmandu valley and - when the weather is clear - will give you stunning views of the sunrise over the Himalayas. It is the perfect place to study and find yourself.

Step away from daily life and take time to explore yourself, your values and your potential, immersing in a physical, mindful and spiritual practice that will have a profound impact on your life and on those around you. This very special training, hosted in a beautiful and welcoming Tibetan Buddhist monastery, will give you the opportunity to truly immerse in a personal and spiritual journey. It will be structured across the month in phases created in order to help you progress towards the confidence and competence needed to teach.

The course will give you the chance to live in a Tibetan Buddhist monastery and to learn from lifelong spiritual practitioners. It includes a number of very special Dharma teachings from senior monks and visiting teachings from one of Kathmandu's most trusted Ayurvedic doctors and a senior Tantric astrologer.

The Doron yoga approach

This training is devoted to guiding people into a life of bliss through holistic yoga, creating both physical and mental balance, cultivating a peaceful mind in a healthy body. Doron yoga specializes in creating a toolbox of life skills that will guide you towards a blissful life with a non-dogmatic approach that blends ancient wisdom with current trends, leading to a stress-free, calm and focused existence. The approach recognizes that being able to inspire others with the practice comes from the passion you truly hold for it, the depth of your understanding of it, and your ability to communicate it to your students. This course cultivates these skills in order to help you prepare to contribute to the yoga community through your teaching and practice.

Phase I: Building strong foundations

Phase IV: Advanced yoga

  • Dr. Asana: reviews and advancements of alignment and poses, core work, arm balances and inversions
  • Giving helpful hands on adjustments; observation, voice and touch
  • The art of sequencing: from your own practice to a class, refining and practicing teaching
  • Meditation - from Dhyana to Samadhi

You will visit places of local spiritual significance to understand the trainings yoga-on-the-mat within the context of the ancient spiritual practices still thriving in the Kathmandu valley. Thus, you will enjoy a nature walk to the nearby cave of Guru Rinpoche's enlightenment, as you retrace his travel to bring Buddhism to Tibet.

The training will be hosted in a stunning Tibetan Buddhist monastery. The monastery is situated near Pharping in the Kathmandu Valley, in the foothills of the Himalayas. You will stay in the comfortable and modern guesthouse in the grounds of the temple, less than an hours drive from the heart of Kathmandu. This pristine location gives you the chance not only to train and absorb the teachings, but to truly get away from daily life and immerse in a practice that will help you to take lasting steps on your own journey.

For Tibetan Buddhists, the hills of Pharping where you will immerse for your training are considered as sacred as Bodhgaya in India, as this is the place where the second Buddha Guru Padmasambhava (Guru Rinpoche) attained the state of enlightenment, before going on to establish Buddhism in Tibet.
