Program

Pre-application requirements

Moksha Yoga Amazónica recommends that you have practiced any yoga style for three to six months either in-studio classes or equivalent self-practice, have a sports or fitness training, or are accustomed to physical exercise in another discipline. You do not need to know any inversions, arm balances, or advanced postures.

Certifications

Students who complete their training before September 30, 2020, are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).

  • What kind of certification will you get?

You will get a 200-hour certification from Moksha Yoga Amazónica, a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS). After graduation, you will use your certificate to register with Yoga Alliance. This is the standard procedure to become a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200).

  • Is Yoga Alliance accepting virtual yoga teacher trainings?

Yes, the Yoga Alliance has made a temporary provision to allow its schools to offer yoga teacher trainings in a virtual format. This means you are able to participate in this virtual yoga teacher training and upon completion, apply to the Yoga Alliance to become a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT 200).

How the training works

Moksha Yoga Amazónica is hosting the course in video format in a Learning Management Software (LMS) on their website. Their website contains a library of books, manuals, the training itself, and a forum for discussion. Each day is broken down by hour and you will move through each lesson sequentially.

Some classes are pre-recorded video lessons with some learning objectives reinforced via quizzes, leading to a subsequent live class where the instructor will guide conversation and/or demonstration about the topic studied previously in the self-study or pre-recorded class. Your instructor will also post questions in the forum for you to respond to and engage discussion among students.

Moksha Yoga Amazónica has assigned some days with morning silent and digital detox where you will start practice in your bed and stay "offline" until the first live class of the morning, as well as Karma yoga volunteering exercises where you can serve selflessly someone in your home, your community, or on the internet.

  • What should you expect of this training?

You will be immersed in the studies of detox cleansing practices, pranayama, meditation, yoga asana, philosophy, anatomy, teaching methodology, and more while deepening your personal practice. The training will be physically, emotionally, and spiritually demanding, bringing challenges but also transformation. Moksha Yoga Amazónica asks that you join with an open mind and an open heart.

  • What if you get sick during the training?

Since you can complete the training at your own pace, if you get sick simply take some days to rest and continue the training when you feel better.

  • Will you still get the gifts offered?

Yes! Moksha Yoga Amazónica will send you by postal mail to your home address your Moksha Yoga Amazonica tank top, neti pot, sutra neti rubber, tongue scraper, and mala beads. You will, however, learn how to make your own neti pot, tongue scraper, sutra neti thread, yoga blocks, straps, and more in DIY workshops where you will recycle things from your house to create these.

Timing of sessions / daily schedule (UTC -5)

  • What if I'm not in the same time zone as Peru?

Not a problem! Because the training is pre-recorded, you can complete it at any time that suits your time zone. For the live 1-on-1 calls and practicum presentations, one of our instructors will work will you directly to schedule your presentation times according to your schedule.

By completing this training, you will learn the fundamentals of yoga teaching, deepen your practice on and off the yoga mat, and will be on your way to share your passion for and teach yoga worldwide.

The mix of synchronous and asynchronous discussions, pre-recorded lessons and practices, self-study, live practicums, and live one-on-one mentorship integration sessions Moksha Yoga Amazónica offers in this training provide a balanced blend of material in order to serve multiple modalities of learning and allow you to be connected with the instructors while at the same time being flexible in your schedule.

You will learn the authentic daily practices of shatkarma, pranayama, meditation, and asana in order for you to feel the power and energy of the yogic life. Moksha Yoga Amazónica trains you to go beyond the physical and mental states so that you learn to speak through your consciousness and live life with equanimity.

The main goal of this yoga teacher training is to prepare you in yoga sciences and asana postural practice so that you can develop a practical and clear vision for teaching and sharing your love of yoga with the world. Whether you are beginning your yoga journey or are an advanced practitioner searching to expand your knowledge, this teacher training will deepen your yoga practice, detox your body and mind, and bring you confidence and inspiration to become a joyful and knowledgeable yoga teacher. Moksha Yoga Amazónica is an experiential yoga school based in the Amazon rainforest of Peru that focuses on Tantra, Hatha, and Vinyasa flow-based yoga.

Moksha Yoga Amazónica bases their teachings on the ancient Vedic texts of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, the Bhagavad Gita, the Hatha Yoga Padipika, and the Mahanirvana Tantra of the Great Liberation. They combine teachings with the physical and spiritual body and mind cleansing and detoxification techniques, incorporating Ayurvedic self-care and Thai massages to activate and align the Nadis (energy lines) and chakras (vortexes of energy located over the main endocrine glands).

Moksha Yoga Amazónica offers yoga classes, retreats, and teacher training courses in Peru and all over the world. Moksha Yoga Amazónica is a Yoga Alliance registered school, allowing you to teach anywhere in the world upon successfully completing their yoga teacher training programs.

The instructor team trains you to go beyond the physical and mental states so that you learn to speak through your consciousness and live life with equanimity. The main goal of this yoga teacher training is to prepare you in the yoga sciences and asana postural practice with a focus on verbal and hands-on adjustments during asana classes, so that you develop a practical and clear vision for teaching and sharing your love of yoga with the world, and go within to deepen your personal practice and growth.

Yoga is not just a repetition of a few postures, it is more about the exploration and discovery of the subtle energies of life. Evolve through breath, rise up, join Moksha Yoga Amazónica, and connect with your most authentic self!

  • Meditation

You will learn how meditation is not "done" but simply happens (like love) and concentration practices to achieve this meditative state of relaxation.

  • Philosophy

Through the study of ancient Vedic texts, discuss human existence, and how the practice of yoga can help reach higher states of consciousness and happiness.

  • Asana postural practice

You will learn breakdowns of more than 80 classical Hatha and Vinyasa yoga postures including pose modifications for multilevel classes and how to use yoga props.

  • Anatomy and biomechanics

Discover the application of healing frequencies to the subtle energy fields around the body to promote health benefits like lowering stress levels.

  • Ayurvedic self-care

You will learn Ayurvedic self-care techniques such as tongue scraping and skin brushing, as well as how to cook your own Ayurvedic massage oil.

  • Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra or "yogic sleep" methods and practicum to reach a deep state of relaxation while maintaining full consciousness.

  • Teaching methodology

Teaching modalities including safe sequencing principles, structuring a class, multi-levels, safety precautions, contraindications, and modifications.

  • Professional development

Discover the various avenues you can take in your teaching journey, from studio employee to freelancer, organizing workshops, retreats, etc.

  • 1-on-1 mentorship

Each week, your integration session with an instructor serves as an opportunity to ask questions while the instructor will assign you an action item for growth.

Find your authentic self

Through the study of the ancient Vedic texts and an understanding and practice of ancestral yoga: the yoga of study (Jnana), the yoga of action (Karma), the yoga of meditation (Raja) and the yoga of devotion (Bhakti), you'll come to realize different truths about the world around you and about your essence nature.

Although learning to teach an asana class is an important part of being a yoga teacher, strive and hope for you to make a shift in consciousness, perhaps re-assessing old habits or value systems, and live your daily life with a little more equanimity.

Practices

  • Shatkarma yogic detox cleansings each morning

Create harmony between the two major pranic flows, Ida and Pingala, thereby attaining physical and mental purification and balance.

  • Meditation practice twice each day

For neurological benefits like changes in grey matter volume to reduced activity in the “me” centers. Meditation produces measurable changes in your most important organ.

  • Asana postural practice twice each day

Improve health, sleep, healing of aches and pains, and feel relaxed and at ease. Asana practice prepares for meditation by creating a strong back and supple legs and creates awareness in the body.

  • Pranayama breathing practice each morning

From improved lung capacity to having a sedative effect on the nervous system, pranayama stabilizes moods, pranayama allows you to glimpse and grasp quietness, stillness, and subtlety more easily.
