Arrive at this nature-immersed, sanctuary in Costa Rica’s dazzling Osa Peninsula with an open mind, and prepare to discover life-changing wellness – along with some shape-shifting superpowers of your own. This training will cover the styles of Hatha and Vinyasa within the Raja yoga system, to give new teachers the tools and confidence to deliver a thoughtful and safe class rooted in authenticity. A large focus on cueing, sequencing, and inclusivity will be the base, giving students the knowledge of how to modify practice for anybody and contraindications.
Nereus School of Yoga believes that yoga should be accessible to everyone and this encompasses the use of inclusive language, both in English and Sanskrit. Students will cover classical sequencing styles and concepts and be expected to teach classes to ensure a good foundation and confidence are established. Conversations and bhakti practices will round out days with all things mantra and mythology.
Students who complete the training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
The training aims to offer a robust, holistic yoga teacher training program with strong ties to Ayurveda, a thorough understanding of Patanjali’s Eight Limbs, knowledge of his Yoga Sutras, and a general understanding of yoga’s sister science, Ayurveda. Teaching will be overseen by the lead instructor, Michelle Garcia, ERYT500, and provided by her and the team.
The program format for this RYT200 yoga teacher training is a residential 20-day or 19-night immersion at Nereus School of Yoga's location in Puerto Jiménez, Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica. Students will also have access to an online educational platform for additional digital content and supplementary materials.
At Nereus School of Yoga, each day is a harmonious blend of self-discovery and immersive learning. The mornings begin with a rejuvenating yoga practice, setting the tone for the day and preparing the mind and body for deeper exploration. Following a nutritious breakfast, you delve into enriching lectures and practicums, gaining insights into yoga philosophy, techniques, and the profound wisdom it carries. After a break for lunch, you will continue lectures and practicums into the afternoon, allowing you to further refine your skills and deepen your understanding.
The evening brings the community together, first over dinner, and later for Satsang or other community activities. These gatherings foster connection, reflection, and shared experiences among participants, rounding off the day with warmth and camaraderie. The comprehensive 20-day, 19-night training ensures dedicated instruction over 18 days, reserving the arrival and departure days for settling in and farewells, making certain that each day at Nereus contributes meaningfully to the holistic journey of the attendees.
