This week-long certification training for yoga teachers and practitioners results in a Yoga Alliance Accredited Certificate in Yoga for Addiction Recovery. Learn yoga, breath work, meditation, and dialogue techniques in relation to the 12-Step recovery model, mindfulness, and the neuroscience of craving and aversion.
Casa Nexus features an expansive canopy-level vaulted ceiling yoga studio, two kitchens, yoga library, and salt-water pool. You will be within easy walking distance to beaches, tidal pools, shops, markets, and restaurants.
Yoga for Recovery is for any person seeking to deepen their experience and understanding of recovery through yoga, meditation and pranayama, and/or for those who are seeking to learn skills to assist others in doing the same. It is ideal for therapists, yoga teachers, and other professionals working with people in recovery. Also very suitable for those individuals seeking to improve and deepen their recovery alongside their yoga inquiry. Participants do not need to be active in or familiar with the 12-Step program.

Janel Schullo is the co-founder and co-director of the Nexus Institute for Yoga & Wellness. Janel has worked as a 200-hour and 500-hour yoga teacher trainer since 2006. With over 5,000-hour teaching experience, she makes yoga accessible to all ages and ability levels. Janel holds an M.Ed. in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in Yoga Studies. She is a 500-hour Kripalu yoga teacher, a 1000-hour Nosara Yoga Affiliate Program director, and a yoga guide. Janel has been a member of the Yoga Alliance since 2004.

Horace Usry is co-founder and co-director of the Nexus Institute for Yoga & Wellness. Horace had a previous career in investment banking. However, his love for yoga and personal development trumped his desire to finance and operate additional businesses. He is a certified Kripalu yoga teacher, Nosara yoga educator, and yoga guide. Horace's teaching is influenced by his Shamanic studies in Peru. With gentle humor and a deep understanding of humanity, Horace has assisted hundreds of students in achieving teacher certification at both the 200-hour and 500-hour levels.
Nexus Institute's private residence is located a few steps from the Pacific Ocean in beautiful Nosara, Costa Rica. They are a two hour drive from Liberia International Airport (LIR) and a four to five hour drive from the capital city of San Jose (SJO). Nexus favorite airport shuttle is Gypsy Cab Nosara. They will be holding a sign with your name on it as you disembark and will deliver you directly to our doorstep. You may also fly from San Jose (SJO) or Liberia (LIR) to Nosara on Nature Air or Sansa.
Orientation will include a full tour of local dining and organic grocery options. Sign up for the daily vegan meal plans with gluten free options; explore local restaurants; or build your own tropical meals in two well-equipped kitchens. Horace and Janel are present on site throughout the training.
Nexus Institute for Yoga and Wellness is located at K-36A Playa Guoines, Nosara, Guanacaste 50206. The Institute is a two hour drive from Liberia International Airport (LIR) and a five hour drive from the capital city of San Jose (SJO). We recommend flying into Liberia (LIR) and booking the two hour airport transfer with Gypsy Cab Nosara the same day you book your flight. They will be holding a sign with your name as your emerge from baggage claim, and will deliver you directly to our doorstep. Please contact Nexus Institute for early arrivals and late departures.
