You will be staying in Arusha city, located at the base of volcanic Mount Meru. Arusha is a gateway to many safari destinations and to Africa's highest peak, Mount Kilimanjaro. To the west, lies Serengeti National Park, home to wildlife including lions, rhinoceros, giraffes, and leopards. Annual migrations feature huge herds of wildebeests crossing its plains.
You will be served three nutritious vegan / vegetarian meals per day. Fruits for snacking and drinking water are always available.
On your days off, you can go on day trips to nearby coffee plantations, Napuru waterfall, Lake Duluti, Meserani Snake Park, Maasai village, Chemka Hot Springs, etc.
Starting from the hostel, you will go for a three hours' hike to the waterfall through villages and wonderful nature, including forests and hills. If you are lucky, you will be able to see many birds and monkeys. At the waterfall, you will have lunch and swim (for sure only if you like to). It will take about two hours to walk back to the hostel. If you do not want to walk, add 10 EUR for transport.
Lake Duluti is situated about 10 kilometers away from the busy town. The lake is surrounded by a great forest. After a two hours' walk around the lake through a forest offering the opportunity to see birds, different plants, and probably monkeys, you will have lunch at the lake, play cards, drink a soda, or simply enjoy the view.
Do you like to drink coffee? Then this tour is the right activity for you! In the morning, you start your way to the coffee plantation nestled at the slopes of Mount Meru. On arrival, you will learn how coffee grows and is harvested. You will roast, grind, and drink your own coffee. You will get a nice inside look at Meru culture and learn a lot of interesting facts about coffee.
This beautiful forest is located close to but not in the Arusha National Park. You will make your way in the morning as you hope to catch an amazing view of Mount Meru. If you are lucky, you will see different types of birds and monkeys! If interested, you can also schedule a visit to the local animal shelter “Mbwa wa Africa” which is run by two Germans.
The snake park is located in Monduli, which is already part of the Maasai Land. You will get to see one of the most venomous snakes in Africa!
You will leave the busy city behind you driving towards Nairobi, where Oldonyo Sambu is situated in the Maasai Land. On the market, you will get the chance to buy Maasai blankets and jewelry and see how food and different animals are traded.
In the morning, you make your way to a Maasai village. In the village, you will be welcomed by local Maasai people. They will show you around, explaining about their tradition and (former) ways of life. When returning to the village, a hot local lunch is waiting for you. You will also go on a bushwalk learning about the different plants the Maasai use as medicine. If you like, you can learn about local dances, Maa-language, and other traditions.
The hot springs are located on the way to Moshi. From the main road, it will take 30 minutes to the hot springs, which are surrounded by stunning nature. The water is well-tempered and invites visitors to swim. However, you can also just relax and discover the area around the springs and admire Mount Kilimanjaro from far.
You will have an early start in the morning and leave the hostel driving towards Moshi. If the sky is clear, you will be able to take a glimpse at Mount Kilimanjaro. In Moshi, you will get the chance to see the town and do some shopping. From Moshi, you continue to Marangu where you will start your hiking tour to one of the waterfalls. Marangu is close to Kilimanjaro National Park and rich in nature. You will get to see birds, butterflies, green and lush nature, and if lucky, monkeys.
At the end of the training you’ll have the opportunity to go on a 3-day safari trip to Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti National Park. The departure will be early in the morning on the first day and you’ll be back in Arusha in the evening of the third day. Campsite tent accommodation, all meals, and drinking water included in the price. Please note that the safari is available for a separate fee of about 600 EUR.
The hostel is run by a Tanzanian-German couple that can organize extra trips for you to Mount Meru, Mount Kilimanjaro, Oldonyo Lengai, etc. after the course.
