Joey Paz and Bryce Delbridge are thrilled to welcome you to their first Ashtanga therapeutics immersion on the fabled south coast of Crete. They are teaming up to offer a one-of-a-kind island adventure in Tertsa, Crete for a week of Ashtanga yoga, self-healing with yoga therapy, rejuvenating beach relaxation, amazing food, and yoga philosophy underneath the full moon.
The shala where you’ll be practicing, was lovingly created by dear yogi friends in the same lineage and it is a dream come true! This is a place created with mindfulness and care for each immaculate detail by true yogis. It is a place of healing, wild plants, sunshine, and peace.
The yoga shala is built atop the highest point of the village, nestled in the valley with sweeping views of the sea, surrounded by wildflowers and rocky cliffs - the perfect place to find your peace of mind.
The shala is open air and overlooks Tertsa Valley and the sea. There are curtains located all around the shala to prevent direct sunlight disturbing the practice, depending on the time of day classes are being held.
Yoga mats, yoga wheels, and yoga blocks are available for use in the shala. The shala features a back wall for inversion practice as well as a perfect spot for screening films and documentaries in the evening.
The property is complete with 4 large, luxury canvas tents and an outdoor sleeping porch providing a total of 12 single beds. Each luxury tent can accommodate two people comfortably. These beautiful structures include a mesh wall that zips onto the groundsheet and canopy, allowing you to roll up the canvas walls for maximum ventilation and view while being totally protected and bug free.
All of the tents are fully furnished including comfortable mattresses, bedding, and towels. Fall asleep to the soothing scent of wild Cretan herbs and the sound of the Mediterranean Sea. Each tent sleeps two people. Couples can arrange to have their own tent. You’ll be glamping on the wild coast of Crete!
There are several outdoor showers and toilets on the property available for guests’ use.
Right under the yoga shala and overlooking the lush sub-tropical valley of Tertsa and the sea, is the boho style guest accommodation that accommodates 4 people.

Joey and Bryce have been practicing, studying, and teaching yoga together around the world for over a decade. As a duo, their methods and teaching styles complement each other in a dynamic, playful, and powerful way. They are extremely excited to be teaming up once again for this healing island adventure!
Bryce Delbridge is an internationally acclaimed yoga therapist who specializes in healing injuries and providing individualized assistance to his students to correct imbalances and repetitive use issues in the body. Joey Paz is an international teacher and scholar of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga.
Both Joey and Bryce maintain close ties to their teachers and mentors in Mysore, India as co-producers of the groundbreaking documentary film “Mysore Yoga Traditions,” and both are devoted practitioners of the 8 limbs of Ashtanga yoga in the lineage of Sri BNS Iyengar of Mysore, India - the last living student of Sri Krishnamacharya who is still living and teaching yoga today.
Starting from wherever your practice is at currently, Joey and Bryce will assist you in taking the next steps to deepen, understand, and evolve your yoga practice. You begin with postural analysis and individualized somatic movement / therapeutic exercises, and self massage to release tension as well as activate and strengthen the weaker muscles groups in your bodies.
Then you will begin asana practice in the traditional Ashtanga method of Sri BNS Iyengar of Mysore. You will explore Primary Series, Intermediate and Advanced series, as well as Mysore style practice during the morning practice sessions.
In the afternoons, Joey and Bryce will lead the group in the more subtle, internal, energetic practices of yoga. The internal techniques of yoga will be explored and taught carefully as you study the pranayama system of Sri BNS Iyengar and explain the foundational methods for moving beyond asana practice into concentration and self inquiry.
In the evenings, Joey and Bryce will stream yoga philosophy lectures from the Mysore yoga tradition's scholarly archive. This is deep philosophy from the scholars of Mysore with whom they have been cultivating a relationship over the years during their annual journeys to India. This content is exclusive to their group and can’t be found anywhere outside their archive.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner of yoga, this retreat is a unique opportunity to take some time for yourself to recharge and heal your body in an exquisitely beautiful place!
Beyond the retreat is a plethora of activities, including a sandy, sunny beach, and the crystal-blue Mediterranean Sea, just a short stroll away. In the village, you’ll find three traditional tavernas and a mini-market. Hiking and nature walks are abundant - including the hike up the majestic Sarakina Gorge, which you will take together as a group. On top of all this, you will have plenty of free time to explore the stunning valley and coastline surrounding the shala, or just relax and mellow out on the beach.
Joey has been a devout practitioner of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga since 2008. Practicing daily for many years with Andrew Eppler, Bryce Delbridge, and Jennifer Engleman at Ashtanga Yoga Studio in Oklahoma, he began to travel regularly to India in 2013 to initiate ongoing in-depth study of Asana, Pranayama, Mudra, Mantra, and Yoga philosophy with Sri BNS Iyengar, a direct student of T. Krishnamacharya and the world's elder living master in the Ashtanga lineage.
Bryce began practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga at the age of 15, after being diagnosed with severe scoliosis. From then, he began devoting his life to various alternatives to surgery. At the age of 20, he traveled to India to pursue a more austere regiment of traditional practice with Sri B.N.S. Iyengar, a direct student of Sri T. Krishnamacharya. He's also completed 1000-hour certification through Integrative Yoga Therapy. When he's not teaching workshops around the world, he teaches regular Mysore and Vinyasa Flow classes at Ashtanga Yoga Studio in Norman, Oklahoma.
Tertsa is a tiny village hidden in a beachside valley on the island of Crete. It is a haven for those that seek true retreat from the fast paced modern world.
Off the usual tourist trail, Tertsa’s lush valley and beachfront location offer the best of Crete - living in harmony with nature, generous hospitality, a slow paced lifestyle, and the shining Mediterranean Sea. Located on the Southeastern Coast of the island, the surrounding Dikti mountain range shelters the small valley from the north wind making Tertsa one of the warmest places in Greece (and Europe).
This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to step out of the day to day world and find yourself in pristine Mediterranean nature while diving deeply into the practice and therapy of yoga.
All meals are included in the cost of this retreat. Three meals a day of delicious, healthy Greek cuisine will be prepared freshly on site, and meals will be served on the large covered patio in the refreshing sea breeze.

Please note that because many people tend to want to arrive early and stay longer after international yoga retreats, airport pickup is not included in the cost of the retreat. Om Shala Yoga will be happy to arrange airport pickup from the airport directly to the retreat for a fee of 100 USD, or assist with car rental or public transportation to the retreat.
