Iyengar Yoga was developed by B. K. S. Iyengar. It is a form of Hatha yoga and emphasizes on detail, precision, and alignment in the performance of postures (asana) and breath control (pranayama). The practice helps you to develop strength, mobility, and stability through the asanas. Iyengar yoga can be easily enjoyed without several years of practice. Props such as cushions, benches, blocks, straps, and sandbags are used frequently allowing beginners to experience asanas more easily than might otherwise be possible. They also help injured or ill students to fully enjoy the benefits of the asanas. More advanced students can take their advantage in a better understanding of the asanas through the use of props. There are three unique aspects of Iyengar yoga: technicalities, sequencing, and timing.

Stay with Om Yoga Rishikesh at their perfectly located center at Rishikesh. They are located near to the divine Ganga River embraced by beautiful mountains, breathtaking views nearby, and their center is peaceful and bright providing excellent location for your inner journey.

You will be staying in a simple and clean accommodation. It comprises of single rooms and double shared rooms. All rooms have attached bathrooms. The bathrooms are equipped with western toilet seats and cold showers. Hot water is also available during winter season. Limited internet is available (the speed and connectivity is dependent on the service provider as well as many other factors). There's also doctor-on-call facility.

Technicalities

Detailed instructions are given to the student so he can learn how to access the body through the outer, skeletal, and muscular body into the subtleties of the mind. Often during the classes, you will find yourself moving from simple poses to more complex ones, developing an understanding of the mind, body, and spirit through a step-by-step approach.

Sequencing

Refers to the order in which the asanas and pranayama are practiced. Each asana has different effects on the mind and proper sequencing prepares and cultures the mind, to make it conducive to your yoga practice.

Timing

Asanas can be held for different time lengths to enable a more profound exploration of the physical and mental challenges of the pose. It takes time to move into a posture and become stable. Remaining stable in a posture for longer time periods intensifies the depth of the posture and increases the benefits.

Om Yoga Rishikesh can be found near Ram Jhula and a stone throw away from the banks of the holy Ganges river. Rishikesh is called the Yoga Capital of the world. It's a small a city in the Indian state of Uttarakhand. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas it is known as a pilgrimage town and regarded as one of the holiest Hindu places in the world. The peaceful and natural environment of the town is perfect to fully focus on your yoga practice.

The riverside stretch is of great spiritual and religious importance and saints and yogis have been meditating on the banks of the Ganges since antiquity. Om Yoga Rishikesh is located just a 5-minute walk from the river.

Besides yoga practice, Rishikesh offers many activities such as rafting, mountain trekking to the nearby waterfalls, shopping, ayurvedic cafes, and treatments. The city is conveniently connected by road, train and air. Nearest train station from Delhi is Haridwar (20 kilometers from Rishikesh) and the nearest airport is Dehradun (20 Km from Rishikesh). There are daily bus connections between Delhi and Rishikesh.

Food

Food provided at the center is 100% vegetarian, not vegan. You will need to inform Om Yoga Rishikesh in advance so their chef can prepare food for you especially. You will be served three pure vegetarian meals per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) and herbal tea. There's also RO filtered safe drinking water.
