Yoga is not about touching your toes; it is what you learn on the way down. So get ready for it. Guided by Dikla Smadar (a yoga teacher and integrative yoga therapist) and by Swami Omesh-Yogi from Rishikesh (master in the field of spiritual guidance, meditation, and yoga), during these 26 days, you will gain extensive knowledge of yoga postures (asanas), pranayama (breath techniques), bandhas (locks), kriyas (cleansing actions), alignment, and basic anatomy; increase your physical strength, inner strength and flexibility; develop your consciousness through the meditation practice; and study the yogic text.
During this training, you will stay at Paje by Night's hotel. The hotel has three rooms the standard bungalows, the king size bungalows, and the concept bungalows, and all overlooking a verdant tropical garden. There are two options for families and group of friends such as the family bungalow and the jungle bungalows.
The hotel is located 100 meters inside from the beach and nicely sheltered from the winds. There, you can relax, swim in the refreshing salted water swimming pool all surrounded by a peaceful, lush garden of coconut palms, huge ficus, and flamboyant trees.
A minute’s walk will lead you to the beach and itis a great one, with a stunningly beautiful, turquoise, emerald, and aquamarine lagoon. On the beach, the beach house offers sunbeds, coffees, cocktails and winery, Italian gelato, snacks, tapas, and big salads.
The standard bungalows can feature a king bed or two twin beds. They all have en-suite bathroom with hot shower and ceiling fan over the bed. They can sleep a maximum of two people.
Windows have mosquito netting but no glass in order to allow air circulation. The hottest months in Zanzibar are December, January, February, and March. If you cannot cope well with the heat, then the king size bungalow is definitely recommended.
The king size bungalows can be double or triple, featuring either a king bed or three single beds.
The family bungalow consists of two interconnected rooms: a master bedroom with one king bed and a standard bedroom with two twin beds. Both rooms have their own entry door and en-suite bathroom with hot shower.
Students who will complete this yoga teacher training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®)

Through lectures and discussions of the most important Sutras of Patanjali and the Hatha yoga Pradipika, you will gain an understanding of the yogic path and how to live in the most conducive way towards evolution.
Topics covered include chitta (consciousness), vrittis (intelligence), samskaras (patterns), yamas and niyamas (conduct), Patanjali's philosophy on Ashtanga yoga, and abyasa and viragya (continuous practice and detachment). This knowledge will aid students in their own path as well as in becoming an effective teachers and role models in their own community.
Chants and mantras hold intelligence that enlivens different parts of one's consciousness. The purpose of mantra chanting in yoga is to generate vibrations and connect with the universe.
You will gain extensive knowledge of yoga postures and will increase your physical strength, inner strength, and flexibility. You will learn how the major groups of asanas such as forward bends, backbends, twists, standing, and inversions affect each of the muscular, skeletal and internal organs systems. Understanding and knowing asanas is the key to develop specific sequences. The focus is on Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga.
Dristi is what keeps the mind focused and centered. You will learn the importance of each Dristi when they can be used, how to perform them properly, and how to teach them.
Teaching something as abstract as pranayamas can prove to be more intricate than one might expect. You will learn how to give proper instructions for each pranayama, to observe cues your students might display in performing different pranayamas, to understand the cause behind each cue and to find possible ways to help.
Bandhas are energy locks. In the practice of a bandha, the energy flow to a particular area of the body is blocked. When the bandha is released the energy flows more strongly through the body. You will learn how to properly perform bandhas alone and in conjunction with asanas as well as how to teach bandhas safely.
A mudra is a seal or gesture that facilitates the flow of energy in the subtle body. There are many types of mudras designed to bring different benefits, depending on what we specifically need. They go hand-in-hand with pranayama and meditation.
This part of the course will lead your transition from student to teacher. Under the watchful eye of your highly trained instructor, in a controlled and safe environment, students will take turns practicing their teaching skills by performing in front of their peers. There will be demonstration, alignment, and instructions.
Along with the understanding of the human anatomy, physiology and health benefits of yoga techniques, you will learn all necessary precautions to be taken to avoid injuries to yourself and your students.
An effective teacher must be able to identify the correct approach for each student by reading the possible cues that they display. Through demonstrations and discussions, this course will cover common physical or emotional signals indicating that a student might be having troubles in a certain area. Examples of these cues include the way they walk, talk, hold their energy, and how their alignment looks in certain postures.
You will learn about the intelligence underlying all aspects of the universe and how, through meditation, each individual can directly access it.
People coming into the practice of yoga will be at different places physically, mentally, and emotionally. To be an effective teacher, you need to be able to accurately assess each student and give them a task that is challenging enough to inspire growth in their asanas practice while not overexerting them to the extent that they can be discouraged. You will also need to be able to give proper feedback so that your students can develop their asanas practice in a safe and effective manner.
The course will teach you about the teaching styles, the ethic and responsibility of a yoga teacher, how to teach, demonstrate, observe, assist, and correct. The course will provide you with tools to help you set a positive and peaceful class environment for an enjoyable and transformative experience.
Yogic detoxing and cleansing exercises are important to learn how to incorporate your breath and meditate properly during physical yoga. It also removes the blockages in the energy channels. After learning about kriyas, students will learn basic cleansing techniques that should be performed on a daily basis.
Through lectures and illustrations, you will learn the science and mechanics of meditation in order to develop consciousness and understanding.
Pranayama is an ancient yogic breathing technique used as preparation for meditation. It improves the respiratory system and purifies the body and mind. You will be guided to a proper approach to pranayama in order to understand their physical effects, how they work when pranayamas can and cannot be practiced.
Kriyas are actions or duties a yogi takes in order to cleanse the internal system of impurities. Through lectures and discussions of the Hatha yoga Pradipika, you will learn the principles of kriyas and how they work to keep your system in top condition.
How you communicate in a class can make the difference between a great class and a bad experience, a great lesson or a dull, dry lecture. You will learn how to use your voice and language effectively, to communicate with clarity and compassion.
The course will cover the study of the anatomy of the human body and the study of the anatomy of the pranic body. Students will learn about the different levels of one being (koshas), chakras, and Nadis. It will also cover the basic Ayurvedic principles to promote health and balance.
Dikla is a certified yoga teacher with over 15 years experience in teaching. Her classes embrace all aspects of yoga, including the yoga philosophy. She started practicing in India in 2003, and since then, she never stopped to teach and study yoga. She teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa, Ashtanga-Vinyasa flow, and yoga therapy.
