Lanzarote is the oldest of the Canary Islands. The most easterly point island of the archipelago, it lies 86 miles from the southern Moroccan coast and belongs geographically to the continent of Africa. The landscape often surprises the first-time visitors by its diversity and breathtaking beauty - mountains and rugged fields of recent lava (270 years ago), soft rolling hills covered with flowers in spring, and wide plains make up the 500 square mile island.

With 300 volcanoes, many areas of the island seem to be bizarre and otherworldly. In the fertile volcanic earth vines, onions, corn and sweet potatoes are still cultivated using traditional simple farming methods. Throughout the day the craters and mountains change their colors according to the varying positions of the sun: sometimes they appear in strong ochre and reds, sometimes soft greens, and cream.

Due to its unique characteristics Lanzarote has become part of the world heritage of protected landscapes and was declared a Biosphere in 1993 by UNESCO.

Healthy organic vegetarian meals for light breakfast, brunch, and dinner will be served during the training except for Sundays which are free days.

Take adventures

For water sports, Lanzarote is a true paradise. It offers outstanding conditions and facilities for surfing, windsurfing, kite-surfing, diving, snorkelling, and fishing as well as more terrestrial pursuits such as golf and tennis.

Roads have little traffic and its continuously changing scenery are ideal for cyclists. The many footpaths give hikers a special insight into the Island and its unspoilt treasures.

Visit famous tourist attractions

Many of Lanzarote’s attractions are of volcanic origin. The fire mountains in the National Park of Timanfaya, the lava caves Cuevas de Los Verdes, the green waters of the crater of El Golfo - in all these places the visitors experience both the destructive power and the creative force of the past volcanic eruptions. The most significant man-made attractions are those of Lanzarote born César Manrique, who was an artist and architect is famous for integrating the works of man and nature such as Jameos del Agua, the extraordinary cave garden created in the solidified remains of a lava river and Mirador del Rio, a lookout point on a steep cliff with panoramic views of La Graciosa Island. His works are all special and well worth seeing.

Healing Holistic Massage is available with an additional cost.

Review by Kinga Craciun from Norway

CONS Cons: Some of the yoga classes by Irana were very focused on chanting and mantra, which I am not used to. But since they offer different classes, I knew not all of them are this way. It' s ok, I guess, and out of curiosity and enthusiasm I attended all classes during the week, which broadened my yoga experience.

PROS Pros: I really enjoyed the variety of yoga classes offered by Irana, Connie & other teachers at Yoga Shala Paros. You can go for every single one of them on the schedule, or choose the specific classes you want to try. I loved the vinyasa classes L3 mostly but also the Iyengar, aerial yoga and tai chi thaught by other teachers were great! Meditation is also offered several times throughout the week which is fantastic. The location of the yoga studio is close to the hotel where I was staying, so it' s comfortable to walk to and from classes. Breakfast and dinner is included in the package, which is nice. Dinner is at Open Garden restaurant and I had delicious vegetarian meal (salads, mushroom risotto, Greek starters as tatziki, aubergine dip every day. The chef seems to be flexible to your preferences and adjusts the meals (vegan, vegetarian, etc.). I had grilled fish one evening and grilled prawns another day which was tasty. Overall, I was very happy with the retreat, the yoga practice, accommodation and experiencing Paros!

Nette Leute. Qualifiziertes Yoga

"My time with Irana at the shala really was life changing for me. She is an exceptional teacher with so much knowledge and experience that you never want to leave. Her holistic approach to yoga suits everyone, no matter previous experience.I left Paros after the three-week course with a whole different mindset than when I came. If you want to change anything in your life or become the best version of yourself I can highly recommend doing the 200h transformational hatha yoga course. The variety of classes everyday was exceptional and the food is out of this world! Greek vegetarian food made me want to learn how to cook properly when I get home :-) Thank you a million times Irana- you are a star."

"When I choose Paros Yoga Shala I didn't know what to expect other than a beautiful island in Greece, but I have to say that my choice was an excellent one, from the accommodation to the amazing food, and Irana was the cherry on top of the cake. She has wisdom and great knowledge on yoga. I attend many workshops but her was my best so far. I got so much from her in more details. The transformation yoga program included the philosophy and science of the Buddhism culture, Chanty, and meditation is part of the program (it was not my favorite part, just from my personal view). I have to say though that everything was done professionally, well organized, and with good structure, even in the small changes she made to accommodate the intense course. She is very passionate as a teacher in every aspect and details. She also expects the same excellence from us, I like this quality in her. I cannot say nothing negative about my experience, she is my guru and I greatly respect her. Make sure you have a white dress for the ceremony. "

"I did my 200h TTC at Paros Yoga Shala in June with Irana and an amazing group of people. Irana is a truly inspiring teacher and a very supportive and caring person. Through the teachings she shared with us I felt a deep and renewed connection sparkling within myself and with Nature. The TTC wasn't just knowledge and practice of the knowledge taught, but rather an inspiring and magical display of how Yoga can become a way of life. I'd love to thank Irana for this opportunity of growth and for giving us the possibility of getting to know so many amazing teachers from all over the world and a variety of different teachings too. I could't recommend this TTC enough... It's just the perfect blend of practices that deeply nourish the mind, body and soul, leaving you feel whole again! Namaste, Clizia"

"So, this is my 4th (or maybe 5th) attempt of writing a review, since the previous ones never got through tripadvisor's system... Not sure why -_- Anyway, I spent the loveliest one week doing yoga here last year in May 2015. Lovely teacher, peaceful studio, with an amazing view of the town and the ocean from its window. I always look forward to seeing the sunset from that window every afternoon after the class. Missing this place (and the town) so much."

"I came to Paros to have basic knowledge of yoga, yoga asana, adjusting of students. I did not plan to sing mantras and meditate for a long time. But this training appeared to be a bit different from expected. Of course we had active practices and a lot of necessary theory... But concentration was paid to the awareness of the body, to breathing, to relaxing. "

"Finally I understood that this is what I really needed and this is what needs the majority of people in the world. Not simple asana repetition. I had problems with my upper back after the pregnancy and carrying the kid, I tried to heal it with different methods (massage, fitness, doing 'normal yoga', osteopathy...), but only after this training the pain is gone (amazing!!!) and now I know how to care about myself. This personal experience will give me opportunity to help other people. Now I know for sure that what we want is not always what we need. We all need health, this is the most important, isn't it?! In this training I got an understanding how to heal the body and the mind using Yoga."

"Irana is a wonderful teacher, she has a great experience - it is felt from the outside. And it is great opportunity to take life and yoga experience from this beautiful woman. She does not give you step-by-step model of teaching, but she teaches by her own example and gives some words for thinking. Then you can choose your own way."

"The Studio is beautiful and clean. Valentina and Monica are angels of the Studio. "

"Sunrise hotel is excellent - very-very friendly staff, clean rooms. "

"This course was really transformational and healing for me. Thank you, Irana!"

"If you want to understand and feel what the real yoga is, you definitely should go to Paros."

"The title transformational yoga teacher training truly sums up the program. The teacher training changed my life. I am grateful to have met such wonderful people in a beautiful place. The teachers are the most talented and compassionate yogis I've met. They inspired me to deepen my practice and embrace yoga as a way of life. They always made sure we were happy and they genuinely wanted us to learn and grow throughout the training. The accommodations were perfect, clean, comfortable, spacious, and conveniently located at a 5 to 10-minute walk from the yoga shala. The food was out of this world! I still dream about the lovely dishes that we ate. The chef is a genius. The yoga classes were phenomenal. They varied from Vinyasa, Yin, Transformational, Aerial, and more. I was never bored. The studio gives off peaceful vibes. Every time I walked into the Shala, I felt happy and relaxed. It is perched on top of a hill, so glass windows overlook a breathtaking view of mountains and sea. The yoga teacher training was one of the best things that happened to me. I wish I lived in Paros so I could go to the yoga shala every day."

"Waking up in the morning for a yoga class and coming back in the evening was not perceived as a to do but something really pleasant! Irana and her assistant took enough time for everyone during the practice and gave me important tips on how to improve my practice. "

"Naoussa is not that big, so walking from the centre to the studio took only about 15 minutes. I can recommend Yoga Shala Paros to everyone, from beginner to advanced practitioners. Looking forward to go back to beautiful Naoussa and Yoga Shala Paros!"

"Peaceful studio with experienced teachers that provide an environment for you to go deeper into your practice. Each and every class is unique and I learned something new every time I was in the studio. There is a class everyday to suit what your body is craving, even the meditations and dance sessions. The aerial yoga on Saturdays is a challenging and uplifting experience, I fell in love with flying. The food for the course was simply divine, fresh ingredients and the creativity of the meals was amazing! The accommodations were very comfortable and well located. It was a short walk to the yoga shala, the beach, and to town. The view of the sea was beautiful and I loved waking up in the morning and doing my practice looking out the window and breathing the fresh sea air. For the entire three weeks, every need was taken care of so that I was able to concentrate on absorbing the yoga and lessons."

"Wow! Irana is an exceptional teacher. Her approach is so balanced and respectful, embodying all the elements of yoga. Irana herself is not only an inspiration but also a woman with deep and grounded philosophies of what it means to be human and to exist in the modern world. I experienced both precision of alignment and the freedom of flow at a level where my limits were not compromised at all, but where every potential could be reached. The aerial yoga is exhilarating, strengthening, and wonderfully playful and liberating. Irana is slow and careful in her teaching methods and respectful of personal limitations, making the class accessible to everyone who still believes in safe, controlled fun."

"As for the studio, the simplicity of light, subtle, calming aroma and coolness, in a space which is large, spotlessly clean, and with the most amazing view of the sea and sky, go to make the whole experience invigorating and cleansing. Irana's attention to detail leaves absolutely nothing to be desired, from her sensitive choice of music to the lemon and ginger water she generously offers. I felt so light and full of joy on leaving the shala and will be sure to go back. Thank you Irana."
