The one-month Intensive Yoga Teacher Training on Ibiza will run from 2nd till 30th November 2021, for 4 weeks. It will be held at Can Torres, a beautiful large converted Finca, in the lush centre of the island, not far from charming and fashionable Santa Gertrudis. Lara Baumann, the founder of Quantum Yoga, will be running the course, co-taught by Nadine Bader, and assisted by Georgina Smith, both experienced 500-hr Quantum Yoga teachers. Dr Matthew Clark will be lecturing on various specialized subjects from Samkya philosophy and sadhu culture to Tantra and basic Sanskrit. This marks the 17th Quantum Yoga Teacher Training, and this particular team has worked together successfully on many occasions, so you will be in very safe, competent and loving hands!
The course will take place at Can Quàntic, situated in the quiet campo (countryside), but not far from the lovely village of Santa Gertrudis, famous for its high-quality restaurants and boutiques. The Villa and its amenities include indoor and outdoor covered meditation and yoga spaces, a large swimming pool, several cozy chill-out areas, various gardens with a wide array of Mediterranean fruit trees, flowers and other gorgeous plants.
The Teacher Training is suitable for those who have completed a 200-hour training and would now like to develop their teaching skills further, deepen and intensify their understanding of the knowledge gained previously, and gain additional insight into the spiritual science of yoga.
Students who complete their subsequent training are eligible to register with Yoga Alliance as Registered Yoga Teachers (RYT®).
The course will be held in English, but Nadine and Lara speak fluent German, Lara also has very good French and Spanish skills, so if you are not a native English-speaker, translation can be offered where questions arise.
The 500-hour program will run alongside the 200-hour Intensive Teacher Training, and as such you will act in the role of the mature student, able to support and advise the less experienced trainees. You will therefore be working very closely with Lara and Nadine, thus acquiring the practical, pedagogic and psychological skills to guide students through stressful and pressurized situations.
The content of the course will be a further development and deepening of your understanding of the history, philosophy and application of yoga. In order to substantiate your knowledge of Quantum Yoga, you will be expected to further explore the teachings of Ayurveda and the significance of Quantum physics in the framework of asana-vinyasa, pranayama and meditation practice. There will be a chance to recap the subjects covered in the previous courses (see 200-hour TT content), and thus expand your knowledge on these from a solid foundation. You will be expected to develop from simply taking in information to now displaying the skill of clearly and succinctly imparting it to others, as well as relating it back to and integrating it into the realm of asana teaching. Thus part of the 500-hour course work will include a lecture prepared by you on a chosen subject. This may then also form your subject for a written thesis of 5000 words. You will be expected to have prepared an outline proposal for your final paper, which will be written after completion of the course (the final submission date is 30th December 2021).
The assessment on the 500-hour course will consist of a written preparatory outline with handouts, to be approved by Lara, followed by the actual teaching of the class. The structure will need to follow the Quantum Yoga Grouping and Sequencing laws. There will have to be an explanation of the Assessment methodology, as informed by Ayurvedic principles. The sequence will have to have a clear theme, a peak pose (if appropriate), as well as the application of linking mechanisms beyond half-vinyasas.
Over and above the 200-hour classes, all of which the 500-hour trainees will attend, there will be an additional Practicum before the main morning asana-vinyasa class, as well as Quantum Yoga's own Q&A session before the lectures in the afternoon. There will be regular meetings with Lara to review the study, practice, and events of the course, in order to clarify their relevance and significance, preparing the 500-hour students’ ability to construct and execute their own elaborate yoga programs in the future.
Lara Baumann teaches the Quantum Method of yoga to all levels of students worldwide. Her objective is to guide people in developing an optimal, powerful, healing, and sacred practice that leads to health, happiness, and enlightenment. As an apprentice, she studied with Sri K Pattabhi Jois in Mysore and BKS Iyengar in Pune. In January 2009, Lara’s book “Quantum Yoga, The Holistic Approach to Creating Your Ideal Practice” was published. Lara runs teacher training courses in Sri Lanka, India, and the UK. She has now settled in Galle with her husband.
Since 2004, Matthew Clark has been a research associate at the School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London). Between 1999 and 2003, he taught courses on Hinduism. Since 2002, he has been employed by 25 different organizations, lecturing worldwide on the history, practices, and philosophy of yoga. In 2017, he was employed by SOAS as a consultant to set up the Centre of Yoga Studies. He is also one of the editors of the Journal of Yoga Studies. For several years, he has also been researching the ancient Asian ritual drink known as soma or Haoma.
Practicing yoga since forever, Nadine became a certified yoga teacher in 2011. She finished her 200-hour training with Lara Baumann in London and her 300-hour teacher training with Spirit Yoga in Berlin in 2016. Nadine teaches dynamic powerful classes and encourages her students to practice to their full potential but having fun at the same time. After traveling a lot and taking part in training, workshops, and yoga sessions all over the world, Nadine has found her base in Berlin.
Quantum Yoga is passionate about nutrition, so the food will be healthy, delicious, where possible organic and locally sourced, as well as copious. The delicious and healthy food on the course will be largely, although not exclusively, vegetarian, while individual dietary requirements will be taken into account.
Their talented chef Abel grows and sells his own vegetables, so he will be using a lot of produce straight from his land, often harvested the same day you will eat it! The 2019 trainees absolutely loved his cooking and his kind, relaxed and unimposing presence. Catering for groups involved in spiritual practice, Abel ensures that meals complement and enhance the yoga experience, whilst leaving the group delighted and fully sated.
Lara lives on Ibiza and has been coming since 2002, so she knows the best massage therapists, healers and other specialists, and can easily arrange villa visits.
