"An exquisite, meaningul and unforgettaqble retreat."

As a Jewish rabbi seeking to deepen my understanding of the practice of meditation, and incorporating principles of yoga into my personal regimen, I chose this retreat somewhat blindly. And it could not have been more meaningful or impact-making. The hospitality was warm and gracious. The instruction was serious, gentle and patient. The extra outings gave us a real taste of the local flavor and culture. And the entire experience was one of spiritual incubation. I have nothing but the highest regard for Pawan, for Rasa Retreat, and for all the staff and faculty involved.

"SImply the Best"

I knew immediately that Rasa Retreat would be one of the top travel experiences I've had and the kind of place I won't shut up to my friends about to encourage them to go. I was so right. I went as a solo female traveler, and from the first day I felt a part of the family. The other guests at the house and I formed an amazing instant bond.

Everything was simply excellent: the yoga, excursions, FOOD, cooking classes, accommodation, massage, shopping experience and of course the retreat dog, Coco. I'm overwhelmed with gratitude for my Rasa experience and can only hope to return one day to Goa or Kashmir.

"The most perfect retreat."

Pawan and the Rasa family created the most wonderful, warm and caring experience for my wife and myself. After 1 week, it was very difficult to say good bye to this serene and extraordinarily welcoming home. Everything was customized to our preferences and exceeded all expectations. From the food, to the yoga, excursions, cooking classes, to celebrating my birthday. We also made great friendships with the other guests. And the accommodation was absolutely 1st class. We hope to return either to Goa or to Pawan's Kashmir summer retreat.

My visit to Kashmir marked my second experience with Pawan and the Rasa family, the first being a stay in Goa last March, which was a fantastic, unforgettable holiday which not only met but far exceeded any expectations I thought I had. I didn’t think it was possible to have another trip which even rivalled it – how wrong I was!

From start to finish, the 7 days I spent with Pawan, Shabir, Firdous, Sajid, Sajad, Coco the dog and a lovely family of fellow guests, were utterly wonderful. I felt as if I was experiencing somebody else’s life – and that’s exactly what you can expect from the team at Rasa, whether in Goa or Kashmir. The days I spent in Kashmir were tailor-made to suit all my interests and desires, while also allowing me to experience life there through Kashmiri eyes. I was able to completely immerse myself in everything that this beautiful location has to offer; from walks in the beautiful Tulip Gardens and Almond Flower Gardens, to hikes to the old fort and Buddhist monastery ruins, and an overnight stay in a luxurious houseboat on Srinagar’s peaceful lake followed by another overnight trip to the breathtakingly beautiful Pahalgam. I also had the opportunity to eat lunch in a local’s house, made by Sajad’s father – a traditional Kashmiri cook of the sumptuous “wazwan” meal, and afterwards meet local craftsmen who continue traditional methods of pashmina making and carpet weaving.

Pawan did an outstanding job as the excellent resident chef; preparing delicious, locally inspired meals for us three times a day, while still finding the time to ensure our itineraries were running smoothly and suited our needs, and most importantly accompanying us during our daily Happy Hour! I had daily yoga sessions with Shabir in some amazing locations: on an island in the middle of Dal Lake, on the deck of the houseboat, and at the foot of the Buddhist monastery ruins. I am relatively inexperienced in yoga but was able to take so much from just 7 lessons with Shabir, who is a knowledgeable, attentive, and highly patient instructor. Firdous was absolutely wonderful as my personal tour guide, photographer, translator, driver, and teacher in the local culture and customs, and I have both him and the fantastic Sajid to thank for ensuring that I always had a cup of hot chai in my hand – and that my wine glass was never empty!

Reaching the last day of my trip was very emotional, as I felt I was about to depart not just from a holiday, but from a home and a family. Kashmiri tourism has suffered greatly in recent years due to political unrest and negative media reports, but everywhere I visited made me wonder how on earth there weren’t more tourists there appreciating the natural beauty, unique culture, and fascinating history of the region, where I did not once feel unsafe or at risk in any way. I promised to the Rasa family and to myself that while it was my first visit, it would most definitely not be my last, and this is a promise I intend to keep. Any time spent with Rasa Retreat is guaranteed to be an unforgettable, awe-inspiring experience which will truly “Nourish Your Soul”.

Simply the best! My family and I visited Rasa in Kashmir. We just can’t get over the trip. Pawan and his team at Rasa including Sajid, Firdous and Sajad made sure our stay was most comfortable and took care of every little need without being overbearing. They planned the trip to perfection and executed it as per the flexibility we needed. We got a taste of Kashmir and Kashmiriyat which helped nourish the soul and satisfy our palate for scrumptious cuisine. Considerable thought and ethos was put into planning the stay by Pawan. Right from the morning tea to the happy hours and late dinners we just loved the experience beyond imagination. If you ever need a perfect holiday think of none other than Pawan and Team Rasa!

Pawan and his team give a warm welcome and top-notch service, catering to your every need in this relaxed, informal guest-house. The meals are excellent, especially the Indian and Burmese. The yoga was of a great, professional standard, and suitable for all levels of student. The property is a 10-15 minute walk from a beautiful, not too crowded beach.

I joined Rasa Retreat for 4 days over New Year's and to say Pawan and his team created the perfect weekend would be an understatement.

I was travelling alone, to India for the first time - so for me this was the perfect introduction to a new country, with the opportunity to meet new friends, eat authentic food, see the local area, practice some yoga and of course, relax a little.

I truly can't wait to return!

My partner and I have stayed 2 nights/3 days at Rasa retreat. We felt very welcoming by Pawan and his team. Yoga classes on the beach (mornings an at sunset) were fantastic and fun. Food at the retreat (breakfast, lunch and dinner) was just delicious. It was also great to share our meals with the other guests and it felt like we were connecting with friends. The relaxing, liberal and friendly atmosphere of the retreat surely added to that. Pawan has a great and pre-active eye for detail and he made sure that we were happy during our stay. He would check with us regularly if we were satisfied. We spent Valentines at the retreat and he left us a flower each with a wishing well message. Pawan goes out of his way to organize little trips in the area. He came with us to the Hindu temple and he proved to be an excellent guide.... He told us much about the Hindu Gods and he obviously loved to tell us about the temple and the religion. All in all we can say that he not only puts all effort into his work and his retreat... it’s full love he puts in and you can feel that. We have been very impressed. We would like to highly recommend the retreat!!
