The retreat center provides excellent accommodation facilities on single or twin sharing bases. Please note that single room is available with little additional fee. The facilities include 24 hours power/electricity and water supply back up and high security.


The Yoga Alliance certified 200-hours course, at Rishikesh Himalaya Yoga Institute, is designed to develop Yoga Teaching skills by understanding the root principles of ancient yoga traditions. The course is ideal for those who aim to take Yoga teachings as a profession, as well as for those who want to experience and follow yoga as a path of holistic living and want to deepen their own practice of yoga.

Rishikesh Himalaya Yoga Institute is committed and focused on imparting authentic teachings of traditional yoga with combination of modern day tools in order to enhance and improve your knowledge and skills to become an inspiring Teacher.

The Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program emphasizes the importance of self-discovery, through the practice and learning of yoga, and various yogic pranayama and meditation techniques.

In this program, you will ground your practice in a particular yoga routine every day. During the training, you learn to design inspiring, innovative and safe classes, working with the use of tools and techniques.

You will explore the basics of Hatha yoga, study the history, philosophy and ethics of yoga, using the eight-fold path of Patanjali's ashtanga yoga and Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, as well as anatomical principles as they directly relate to the physiological and psychological aspects of the asana practice.

In order to meet the requirements of Yoga Alliance USA, the instructors follow an intensive, yet enjoyable and well organized daily schedule for this 200 Hours Hatha Yoga Teacher Training program.

The daily schedule will allow yoga aspirants to spend 7-8 hours of yoga practice and learning. The comprehensive syllabus covers the History, Tradition and different paths of Yoga, Asana, Pranayama, Meditation, Anatomy, Teaching Methodology, teaching skills and business aspect of yoga, along with focusing on spiritual aspect of yoga practices to deepen your own practice.

You will also have complimentary Ayurveda therapy experience and interactions with professional Ayurveda experts during their course on Ayurveda and practice of total well-being through yoga and Ayurveda.

The day begins at 6:30 AM, so you are encouraged to sleep early, in order to wake up on time and be ready for your daily hatha yoga practice. The daily schedule includes theoretical part of yoga study, as well as the opportunity for practice.

  • 07:00 - 9:00 Yoga Practice (Two Hours; Postures, Breathing, Pranayama and Meditation)

  • 10:30 - 11:30 Lecture session 1 (One Hour; Hatha Yoga/Philosophy/Anatomy)
  • 11:30 - 12:30 Lecture session 2 (One Hour; Hatha Yoga/Philosophy/Anatomy)
  • 12:30 - 14:00 Lunch
  • 14:30 - 16:00 Lecture session 3 (One Hour and a half; Hatha Yoga/Philosophy/Anatomy)
  • 16:00 - 18:00 Yoga Practice (Two Hours; Postures and Breathing)
  • 18:00 - 19:00 Yoga Nidra, Mantra Chanting and Meditation
  • 19:00 onwards Dinner
  • 21:00 Lights off

Please note that Rishikesh Himalaya Yoga Institute (RHYI) is a registered yoga school from “Yoga Alliance USA” for 200 and 500 hours Teacher Training courses and the approved curriculum meets international standards of Yoga teachings.

After completing this course, you will receive an internationally recognized yoga teachers training certificate and the staff strongly believes you will be fully prepared to teach yoga internationally. The certificate allows you to register with Yoga Alliance USA as a registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) and after getting teaching experience, become an ERYT (experienced registered yoga teacher).


Yogi Shanker
Yogi Shanker has been practicing yoga since his childhood. His family is closely associated with great saints and Yogis of India. He holds ERYT200 and RYT500 from Yoga Alliance USA. He holds a Master’s degree in Yogic Science and working on his PhD in Yoga Philosophy. He also holds a Master in Business Administration, from UK. The management training gave him a new dimension and era to work, which further helped him design the yoga courses for corporate customers, as well as courses on stress management and counseling. He is an expert in Yoga Philosophy and meditation teachings.
Yogi Abtar
Abtar has been practicing Yoga since he was 14 years old. He has achieved a Gold Medal in the Team Event at the Indian University Yoga Championships and has vast Yoga teaching experience, as a senior yoga teacher in Singapore, Malaysia and Macau. He has also been Yoga Coordinator at California fitness Vietnam and Yoga training director at Karma Yoga Vietnam. He is also certified in Ayurvedic treatments, an ancient system of health care that is native to India. Abtar seeks to convey the spiritual and physical benefits of Yoga and to promote the benefits of Yoga for a healthy lifestyle option.
Yogi Ajay
Yogi Ajay has started his Yoga learning from an early age and obtained Post Graduate Diploma in Yoga and Holistic Heath from the Garhwal University, India in 2005. He started his Asana practice and learning under the guidance of Rudra Gaura, an Iyenger teacher in Rishikesh. His interest to learn the deepest teachings of meditation inspired him to do a meditation retreat with Swami Veda Bharati, a well-known meditation master of India in 2013. Ajay has been teaching and guiding students in Iyenger Yoga from a long time and has been known as charming and inspiring teacher among his students.
Yogi Veeru
A native of Rishikesh, known as "Yoga capital of the world", Veeru started practicing Yoga, when he was studying in high school. He did a Post-Graduation in Yoga and Holistic Health and has won numerous Yoga medals and trophies, at district and National levels in India, during his school days. He has been teaching Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Vinyasa Yoga and Meditation since his college days. He currently teaching at his center in Macau for the last couple of years. His classes are dynamic, challenging and full of fun.
Yogini Sunayana
Sunayana was born in Rishikesh, where she started to practice yoga at the age of 12. After getting her Bachelor in Psychology and English, she obtained a Post-Graduation in Yogic Science. Sunayana also holds an International Teachers Training Course Certificate and is certified in Iyengar Yoga. She is highly disciplined in her teaching style and ensures that all her students are performing yoga in the most safe and effective manner. She claims that Yoga and meditation help her find inner peace and clarity of mind when it’s clouded with too many thoughts.
Yogi Gajendra
He started practicing Hatha yoga solely for the physical benefits of the practice, as he wanted a more balanced physique. With time, he began to experience the immense transformative effects of practice of Yoga on both physical and mental health. Yoga, then, became a holistic way of life to him, rather than a purely physical asana practice. As he delved deeper understanding into the study of yoga traditions, he started to read ancient texts on yoga to understand its true essence. Eventually, he met his Master. Over the course of learning, he also explored the Ashtanga and Iyengar systems.
Ayurveda Expert Dr. Ravi Kumar
Dr Ravi Kumar is a professional Ayurvedic Doctor, who has been practicing Ayurveda right after his graduation in Ayurveda medical Science. He holds PhD in Ayurveda and Bachelor of Ayurveda medical Science, and Post-Graduate Diploma in Yoga. He is the master of Ayurvedic healing Sciences and practices.


The RHYI retreat center is a unique and ideal place of peace, tranquility, and joy and for yoga retreats and trainings. The lush green and exotic ambience close to the nature is designed according to Vaastu (science of architecture). Situated in the foothills of the Himalayas in Rishikesh, they have two excellent locations for the teacher training programs and retreats. Both the locations are at the heart of the city with a clear view of river Ganga and Ram Jhoola (the famous hangining bridge on Ganga).


The entire study is supported by sumptuous and balanced pure vegetarian meal served during your course prepared on the bases of Ayurveda principles. Please note that vegan food is not provide, however they try to address the specific dietary needs of all participants, if possible.

Diet and nutrition are an integral part of your yoga practice. As you progress in yoga practice, you have to take care of your diet with proper food and nutrition. At RHYI, a healthy, pure, and delicious vegetation food, prepared by their own team of cooks, is provided. A high standard of hygiene is being maintained. The valued yoga aspirants are always incredibly impressed with the diversity, flavor, and creativity of the food preparation.
