He was a very famous 19th-century saint who practiced all religions and who demonstrated that each religion is a path to enlightenment.
Here are some of his thoughts: "We should practice each religion for some time - Hinduism, Islam, Christianity."So I followed the paths of the Shaktas (disciples of Shiva), Vaishnavas (disciples of Krishna), and Vedantists (those who believe in non-duality). I realized that there is only one God to whom all travel, but that we take different paths."
In the 21st century, where there will be discussion on tantra and yoga as applied sciences, the name of Swami Satyananda Saraswati will always be relevant. He was a disciple of Swami Sivananda Saraswati of Rishikesh and an authority on all branches of yoga.
Here are some of his thoughts: “Yoga is not an ancient myth that has been forgotten. It is the most important legacy of the present. It is an essential need of today and of the culture of tomorrow."
“Whatever binds you or limits you, set yourself free now. There is nothing in the outside world, no person, no condition, no circumstance that can take your freedom from your mind. Instead of wishing to be free, to live your life differently, accept now, that in truth you are free, free to change your way of thinking, free to change your way of seeing life, free to be whatever you want to be. Make this day a day of freedom, spiritual freedom. Declare yourself free from anxiety and fear, and free from all limiting beliefs. "
One cannot remain without feeling an electric shock in the veins when the words of this powerful genius are read and heard. He was the master among all the disciples of Ramakrishna Paramhamsa. He was also the first monk from India to travel to the United States in 1893, to give a spiritual boost that universalized yoga and spirituality.
Here are some of his most explicit reflections: “We are what our thoughts made of us; so take care of your thoughts. Words are secondary. Thoughts live and travel far. Every soul is potentially divine. The goal is to show this divinity by controlling its exterior and interior nature. Do this through work or prayer or psychic control, or philosophy - through one or more books or in temples or in any other form, these are just minor details."
