Blooming into being

Everyone knows how magical Yin yoga is. Practitioners travel inwards, sit with the uncomfortable and with their shadows, and they pass through. They breathe and grow, like a lotus flower deeply rooted in the muddy water, reaching to the surface to bloom.

To this blissful practice, School Yoga Institute has now added the jewel to the lotus flower: the yoga Nidra, or the practice of yogic sleep. Yoga Nidra is a way to reset the nervous system and shift deeper subconscious patterns and beliefs.

After this training, you will have the knowledge of how the different ancient wisdoms of shamanism from Peru, Ayurveda from India, and Traditional Chinese Medicine can help in understanding the practice of Yin in mental and physical levels. You will understand how different ancient wisdoms and maps can be introduced into your own practice and into your teachings, as well as how to create an intention and weave that into your class.

You will experience:

  • Daily meditation practice
  • Daily Yin asana or Restorative asana
  • Daily yoga Nidra practice
  • Yin yoga anatomy: the styles, the body, the fascia
  • Continuing learning Traditional Chinese Medicine: practices and sequencing classes
  • Yoga Nidra theory in practice: nervous system and koshas
  • Teaching yoga Nidra and create own Nidras
  • Art of relaxation
  • Trauma sensitivity
  • Experience ceremonies
  • Healing work through past life regression

Food

Food in Costa Rica

It’s safe to say at SYI they’re a team of foodies, nourishing the bodies and sustaining a yogic diet is one aspect of the training that students particularly enjoy as this training allows them to explore a vegan / vegetarian diet possibly for the first time. In Costa Rica, this is easy to do with the abundance of fresh tropical fruits and vegetables that fuel the training with an emphasis on the purification of mind, body, and spirit.

All of the locations have a team of dedicated chefs who provide 3 soul-nourishing meals a day, as much as possible they source local and organic produce and offer a mix of local and international dishes. Most meals are served buffet-style. You’ll be introduced to the flavors of Costa Rica with dishes such as Gallo Pinto, Casado, Arroz con Leche de coco (coco milk rice pudding), Sopa Negra, Patacones (fried plantain served with guacamole).
