This training will be held at Indigo Yoga Resort, a truly unique place located in Mal Pais, Costa Rica. They offer contemporary tropical accommodations while embracing traditional Costa Rican ambience & culture. Indigo is nestled in a lush green setting with an abundance of beautiful tropical flowers, trees, and native wildlife. This yoga teacher training is a holistic program; to understand yoga, one must first understand their body, mind, and spirit. The four directions of the Native American medicine wheel will be used as a guide and foundational structure for the course. Within each direction, the course will focus on different types of movement, diet, and meditation. SYI brings to life the ancient teachings of yoga through accessible spiritual lessons, a solid foundation in yogic philosophy, and a daily yoga practice.

SYI focuses on the roots of yoga tradition, where yoga is used as an instrument to reveal the truth of our existence as spiritual beings. School Yoga Institute honors all traditions of yoga and shares two foundational sequences at the 200-hour level.
These sequences are the Sadhana Vinyasa flow and Sadhana Hatha flow, based primarily on the Ashtanga and Sivananda sequences respectively, and together, these allow students to develop any style of class they feel called to share.
Located on the tip of the Nicoya Peninsula the Mal Pais and Santa Theresa surfing zone is known for its year round consistent waves. The average swell running in the 3-5 foot range breaking over beautiful sand beaches. The Indigo Surf, SUP, & Yoga Resort is a short five minute walk from some of the most spectacular tide pools in Costa Rica. Each morning we will have shuttles down to the waves. Playa Carmen being just 2 kilometers up the road will be our most common surf spot. As well, depending on participant needs and abilities we will have opportunities to go up to the breaks at Banana Beach, Santa Teresa and Playa Hermosa. As well we will all experience the wonder of Stand Up Paddleboarding (‘SUPing’) right in Mal Pais. With construction being completed only four years ago, guests can enjoy themselves in modern accommodations with ample natural light and complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property. You will also get to enjoy easy access to the paradise like beaches of Manuel Antonio and the diversity of the world-renowned national wildlife refuge, such as monkeys, sloths, birds, and all manner of incredible flora and fauna.
You will be served 100% certified organic meals, with options of raw, vegan, and vegetarian.
You are highly recommended to shuttle to Manuel Antonio the day before your training begins. School Yoga Institute will book your shuttle time once they have your flight information.
Every day at 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. there is a public bus from Downtown San Jose, the bus station is called “7-10”, it is 15 USD. This bus is direct (gets on the ferry with you and then you re-board the bus after the ferry ride) it will arrive in Santa Teresa at the “CRUCE” at 12 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. From there you will need to get a taxi to Indigo Yoga Resort, 2 km. South of the cruce. The buses are very nice.
