May the journey begin…

Vision and mission

  • Shivalaya aims to cultivate trust, discipline, and love within each individual who crosses their path. The ashram is 100% owned and operated by a local family, which facilitates a closer connection with the local community, culture, and nature. The connection between the teachers, the students, and the staff is fumented by the fact that we all eat, sleep, practice and live in the ashram, as a family.
  • Shivalaya educates their students within the traditional path of Patanjali's teaching. The 8 limbs of Ashtanga Yoga is their foundation and then they bring in aspects like modern anatomy, methodology, etc. But the 8 limbs are the core of their program. He is the Guruji they thank for the framework that helps people on the path of yoga to recognize their true selves. Over the last 10 years, they have explored and observed how eastern and western wisdom can co-exist. How to best transmit the eastern science to the western mind. They emphasize on the rituals surrounding your practice, to give you the best foundation for keeping your daily practice going when you are going back into the modern, more busy lifestyle, than in the ashram.

About the course

Nature is our greatest teacher, it keeps us humble and grounded in a modern world of endless distractions. The ancient lineage of enlightened Yogis and Great Rishis did their Sadhana (spiritual practice) practiced in the Himalayas and the energy from their disciplined Sadhana is lingering in the atmosphere, and we experience that this is part of the great transformation of Shivalayas students.

The practice will boost your immune system, increasing your strength and flexibility. We will purify the digestive tract, the channels of the sinuses and lungs through traditional shatkarma. Through the course, you will feel an enhanced ability to observe and listen as well as experience the different layers of existence (pancha koshas).
