Shivalayaa Yoga Shala is facilitated by means of accommodation and Sattvic food. The residential facility is simple and comfortable for a good rest and sleep and to ease during the training programs. The yoga hall is created to give space to breathe and integrate the union of body, mind, and soul.

The students and residents are encouraged to enhance a yogic lifestyle by actively participating in various activities which are designed and integrated with nature. The surrounding around the shala provides a holistic lifestyle close to nature with freshness and tranquility.



The curriculum for this teacher training is designed to enhance the practitioner’s choice of the four paths of yoga, Karma yoga, Bhakti yoga, Jnana yoga, and Raja yoga. You will focus on the philosophy of yogic scriptures with the practice of pranayama and asanas.

Through the blend of these ancient practices and weaving them into modern times, the knowledge cultivates a transcendental experience for Sadhak.

The training methodology focuses on the five points of yoga - the yogic technique of surya namaskar, asanas including inversions, forward, backward, twist, balance, and lateral with variations and modifications, pranayama, meditation, shat kriyas, mudras, and bandhas.

You will focus on principles of demonstration with instructions, adjustments, alignments, assisting during practice teaching and training session and instructing. There will also be a discussion on common mistakes and counter-indications, and benefits. You will learn to develop your own personal practice style.

Anatomy and physiology

Introduction to the human body and its various major systems and their functions; explanation, relation, and reflection of yoga asana, pranayama, and relaxation on each of these major systems in the body like the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestion, skeletal and muscular systems, endocrine system, hormonal system, immune system, nervous system, and urogenital system.

You will also experience in-depth explanation of yogic and physical culture, discussion of yogic postures in relation to mobility along with the importance of proper relaxation and proper yogic diet on these systems. Reflect on chakras, koshas, and Kundalini on the anatomy and physiology.

Yogic philosophy, lifestyle, and ethics

Learn about the history of Hatha yoga along with the philosophy and aim of yoga. You will get to be a part of a discussion on the yoga sutras of Patanjali, Bhagwat Gita, Kundalini yoga and an introduction to the five points of yoga. You will learn in detail about the four paths of yoga:

  • Karma yoga, related to selfless service or seva
  • Raja yoga, which deals with 8 limbs of yoga
  • Ashtanga yoga, Jnana yoga; the path of knowledge or the knowledge of self, five koshas, three bodies, three gunas, Bhakti yoga - chanting, kirtan, and satsang. You will also learn about yogic lifestyle and yoga ethics.

Teaching methodology

The teaching methodology includes:

  • Introduction to Hatha yoga class
  • How to create, plan, and schedule a class
  • Discussion on the group dynamic in relation to class type and structure
  • The major principles involved during planning different levels of classes and / or skill based class
  • Communication of proper guided instructions
  • Use of demonstration skills - observation, assisting, correction, and modification when necessary
  • The qualities of a teacher and its reflection on developing the trainee's individual style and communication patterns
  • The yoga industry


Through the teaching training session the trainee is required to demonstrate all yogic learning, teaching skills, and techniques acquired during the training program. They also need to make effective use of instructions, corrections, observations, this area includes observation of classes of other students and teaching styles to gather personal development material during non-contact hours, along with a basic social and emotional skills of a teacher towards the student and practitioner.


The trainee once adheres to any program is required to follow the daily timetable and code of conduct of the yoga shala. Strict attendance to all the classes and lectures is compulsory. The teacher training course and other programs are entitled to intensify the trainee's development towards yogic wisdom.


Upon completion of this yoga teacher training, students will receive certificate affiliated with Yoga Alliance. Registration with Yoga Alliance provides a globally recognized credential.

You will be provided with text study material and are also recommended to enhance personal study hour using the books provided in the library.

This training will be held at Shivalayaa Yoga Shala situated in Netala, India. The serene village of Netala is surrounded by the Himalayas and the banks of Mother Ganga (Bhagirathi Ganga). On days offs, you may go around the village to interact with the villagers, explore the mountains, enjoy small treks, and more.

This ancient land of Lord Shiva with Shakti is filled with an abundance of spiritual energy for a practitioner to delve deeper into the mystics of self and beyond.


During this retreat, you will be served daily Sattvic brunch and dinner, as well as tea. Shivalayaa Yoga Shala promotes a Sattvic culture in the kitchen and serves Indian delicacies in the purest form.

At the shala they also grow a few basic spices, herbs, seasonal vegetables, and green leaves according to the climate to incorporate an organic and healthy lifestyle.

Things to do (optional)

During your free time, you may visit Gangotri, the famous temple of Mother Ganga, the Kashi Vishvanath Temple, the Uttarkashi market, Dayara Bugyal, Nachiketa Tal, or Maneri Dam among other iconic places. The best Ayurvedic massage center is about eight kilometers from the yoga shala. Shivalayaa Yoga Shala can arrange your appointments and transportation to reach there for an additional cost.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by bus

If you travel by bus, you can look up for timings for Deluxe buses and Volvos for comfortable travel at Maharana Pratap ISBT (popularly known as Kashmere Gate Bus stand also). From Haridwar & Rishikesh to Uttarkashi It takes approximately 7-8 hours from Haridwar and 6-7 hours from Rishikesh to Uttarkashi. There are few buses available to travel from Haridwar or Rishikesh to Uttarkashi before noon only.

Arrival by train

If you wish to travel by train, you can then book e-tickets via internet. The Dehradun Shatabdi Express number 12017 starts from New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) at 6:50 a.m. and reaches Haridwar approx at 11:15 a.m. If you wish, you can travel the same day or halt. If you can travel till Dehradun, the train reaches approx at 12:50 p.m. and then take shared taxi or on bookings as per your convenience.

Arrival by taxi

You can also travel in shared taxi from Rishikesh to Uttarkashi or book one for yourself as per your convenience. It is advisable to reach in daylight to Uttarkashi. The view is breathtaking and the route energy is blessed by views of Mother Ganga. There are also taxis available from Uttarkashi to Netala.

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 20% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid on arrival.
