Inspired by the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, restorative yoga employs props such as blankets, cushions, bolsters, and straps to enhance comfort and extend the duration of each pose. This practice fosters profound relaxation and encourages the body’s natural relaxation response, aiming to reach a state of deep ease and surrender, unlike the sensation-focused approach of yin yoga.
With the support of props, poses are held for extended periods, promoting introspection and overall well-being. Beyond the physical practice, restorative yoga nurtures mental and physical relaxation, enhances intuition, strengthens the heart-mind connection, and stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system for a holistic sense of calm and rejuvenation.
Upon graduation from this course, you will be eligible to add 100 hours of YACEP to your Yoga Alliance registration.
In your teaching practice, you’ll focus on Restorative and Hatha Yoga. Starting on day 5, you’ll lead Asana classes, gradually increasing to longer sessions up to 45-90 minutes. You’ll receive feedback from peers and teachers to refine your skills in hands-on adjustments, voice projection, and class management.
You’ll also learn to plan and structure yoga classes, using props like blankets, Blocks, Streps and bolsters for added support, and ensuring proper head and neck support. You’ll study 20 restorative asanas from the Hatha tradition and design personalized sessions to help manage stress and promote relaxation. Additionally, you’ll cover injury management, safety guidelines, and the business side of yoga, preparing you to teach confidently.
Receive a comprehensive manual that serves as your guide throughout the course, offering valuable resources to reinforce your learning across all facets of yoga, from philosophy to practical techniques.
