Vinyasa Yoga, also known as “Vinyasa flow,” is a dynamic style where postures flow seamlessly from one to another, synchronized with breath. Unlike Ashtanga, which follows a fixed sequence, Vinyasa offers varied sequences in each class.
The term “Vinyasa” means “to place in a special way,” reflecting the conscious movement and breath synchronization that helps balance the body and calm the mind. Vinyasa practice generates heat and can include a cardiovascular component.
In your Vinyasa TTC, you’ll explore various class focuses (strength, balance, flexibility, etc.), learn sequencing and alignment, and practice Ujjayi breath. Expect to sweat, challenge yourself, and enjoy the process!
In your teaching practice, you’ll focus exclusively on Vinyasa Yoga. Starting on day 5, you’ll lead Asana classes, gradually taking on longer group sessions until you can confidently teach a 45-90 minute class.
You will receive constructive feedback from peers and teachers to refine your skills. Key areas of focus include hands-on adjustments, voice projection, class management, and teaching styles.
You’ll also learn to plan and structure yoga classes, mastering techniques such as demonstration, observation, assisting, and correcting, while also addressing injury management, safety guidelines, class presence, and the business side of yoga.
By the end, you’ll be well-prepared to teach Vinyasa Yoga with confidence and skill. You’ll also learn modifications and advanced variations of postures, use props like blocks, bolsters, straps, blankets, and walls, and participate in posture clinics. The course includes regular themed workshops on topics such as hip opening, headstands and inversions, back bending, and arm balances. Additionally, you’ll incorporate Yin Yoga asana practice throughout the course to help nourish your body and support your ability to navigate the more challenging and advanced aspects of Vinyasa Yoga.
Receive a comprehensive manual that serves as your guide throughout the course, offering valuable resources to reinforce your learning across all facets of yoga, from philosophy to practical techniques.
