Mexico 200-Hour Yoga Teacher Training Immersion

Welcome to SupraYoga Retreats' 200 hours yoga teacher training program designed for all levels. This training will supply you with more teaching practice, more group discussions, and more one on one with the teachers. The training is located on the side of the mountain with views of the Yelapa Beach and the Pacific Ocean that can only be reached by water taxi. You will have time to explore the beach and enjoy nature hikes along the mountain too!

The accommodations at Pura Vida offer spectacular views of Playa Yelapa and the Pacific Ocean. The cabins are located in a jungle and a tropical garden situated on the mountain just at the ocean shore. Most of the cabins have breathtaking views of the ocean and Yelapa bay, they were built literally just above the ocean. You may enjoy the ocean view right from your bed or from a terrace.

The rooms were built in modern Palapa style, they are walled from three sides and open in the front, offering amazing jungle and ocean views, security and privacy, and fresh breeze.

Human Anatomy and Asana Alignment

Learn key anatomy and alignment principles: muscle, bone, joint, and connective structures along with terms of movement. Learn to cultivate effective sequences based on the anatomy of a particular student and confidently offer progressions, modifications, and learn contraindications for students you may encounter while teaching.

This section will cover the following topics:

  • Anatomy for yoga and alignment guidelines
  • Standing postures
  • Forward folds
  • Core postures
  • Supine poses
  • Inversions and arm balances

Sequencing and Subtle Energies

The Vinyasa Sequencing and Subtle Energies section will delve into the fundamentals of how to safely sequence a Vinyasa class. In-depth work with the chakras will be discussed. You will gain an experiential understanding of the deeper layers of the body that will inspire you to harness the power of your asana practice.

This section covers the following topics:

  • Safe sequencing (inspired by Davannayoga and Mark Stephens)
  • Sequencing for the subtle (energetic) body
  • Prana, pranayama, and bandhas (breath, the movement of breath, energy locks, the flow of energy, and how to control it)
  • Chakras: The seven sacred energy centers
  • Safe Vinyasa sequences for the subtle body

Manual Adjustments

Learn how to connect with your students through effective hands-on adjustments. Whether it be to deepen a posture or modify it for a beginner; you learn and practice what is required to deliver adjustments that allow you to connect with students.

This module covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to adjustments and essential techniques
  • Ethics of hands-on adjustments
  • Basic adjustments
  • Vinyasa adjustments (adjusting someone through a sun salutation)
  • Standing pose adjustments
  • Balance pose adjustments
  • Twisting pose adjustments
  • Forward bend adjustments

Philosophy, History, Theming

Develop the knowledge and storytelling skills you need to convey complicated yoga philosophy to a modern day audience. Submerge in the history of yoga and learn how it has developed and how each everyone is keeping this tradition alive. Through your required readings you will learn what it takes to manifest the core philosophy of yoga. This knowledge will also give you the skills necessary to build your classes around a historical theme honoring a deity, their power, and their story. Themes enhance classes physically, mindfully, and spiritually.

Meditation and mantras

Learn the power of the sacred vibration of chanting in Sanskrit. Unveil the profound practice of meditation. SupraYoga Retreats not only teaches you how to develop your own meditation practice but also how to teach a variety of meditations to others. You will participate in energizing and soul awakening group Kirtan mantra practices.

This module covers the following topics:

  • Basic Sanskrit pronunciation and vocabulary
  • Basic mantras and chants
  • Why tradition, myth, and storytelling is pivotal in making mind, body, and spiritual connections

Building a Yoga Business and Leadership Plus Teaching Techniques

Learning how to build a business requires a detailed plan. This section will get you started by refining your cues, learning to be resourceful, and teach you the techniques and strategies you need to develop and hone your skills as an exceptional yoga instructor and business owner. This section provides you with tools and tips you will need to set yourself apart from the crowd and creating memorable yoga classes to keep your students engaged!

Topics that will be covered:

  • Student and teacher etiquette
  • Structuring classes and classroom set-up
  • Effective cueing vocabulary and creative language
  • Business of yoga
  • Utilizing resources and affordable services on the web

Final Exam

The final exam represents your successful completion of all areas and your readiness to demonstrate your teaching skills. This final section gives you the opportunity to test your mastery of yoga and lead your peers in a full 60-minute Vinyasa class as outlined by SupraYoga Retreats. Those diligently applying themselves should find no difficulty in achieving success. Upon successful completion of this course, you are awarded a 200-hr Yoga Teacher Training certificate with Supra Yoga School.

Included excursions

SupraYoga Retreats' included excursion is a nature hike from Boca de Tomatlan to Playa Las Animas where students can perform a yogic act of service by picking up garbage along the way. This walk is beautiful for taking pictures and exploring new beaches. The hike is approximately 2.5 hours.

How to get there

Recommended Airports

Arrival by airplane

You can book your flight to Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport (PVR). Airport transfer is not included but an arranged water taxi is included for the group from Puerto Vallarta to Yelapa. The water taxi ride is approximately 45 minutes. An email will be sent out with details of where and when students will meet the water taxi.

Cancellation Policy

  • A reservation requires a deposit of 50% of the total price.
  • The deposit is non-refundable, if the booking is cancelled.
  • The rest of the payment should be paid 30 days before arrival.
