Anusara yoga immersion

The Anusara yoga immersion is an invitation to an in-depth experience of this yoga system. It is a journey to the essence that pulsates in your heart through the study of the life-affirming philosophy underlining the Anusara method, the practice of the universal principles of alignment, and the power of the kula, the community of like-hearted yogis.

The immersion is an opportunity to penetrate and to expand in your yoga studies on every level (asana, philosophy, pranayama, meditation) with no pressure placed on teaching or instructions on how to teach. Sharing this experience with like-minded yogis you will built strong connections to create a supportive community of the heart.

Immersion structure

The immersion consists of a total of 108 hours and it is divided into three parts or blocks of 36 hours each, immersion I, II, and III. Usually, each block is a five-day intensive training although sometimes is taught in another format.

The immersion is open to all yoga practitioners that wish to enjoy a deeper experience of Anusara yoga, whether or not they are interested in following a teacher training. Pre-requisite to start an immersion is to have taken 30 hours of Anusara classes, workshops, or retreats. If you haven’t been able to do so but you want to sign up for an immersion, please let Surf Yoga Morocco know.

Completion of immersions I, II, and III is a pre-requisite for participating in any Anusara yoga teacher training. In fact, these 108 hours are the first part of that 200-hour Anusara yoga teacher training.

The 108 Immersion hours constitute half of the credit hours for the 200-hour Anusara yoga teacher training homologated by the American Yoga Alliance. However, in the immersion, there is no emphasis in how to teach, but only in drinking fully from the empowering knowledge of the fundamental teachings of Anusara yoga.

Immersion content

Immersion content is approximately distributed in the following way:

  • Asana practice and universal principles of alignment: 50 %
  • Philosophy: 33 %
  • Pranayama, meditation, contemplation, and anatomy: 17 %

"We had a great holiday. The accommodation was clean and comfortable and the food was delicious. Mehdi looked after us very well with great surf lessons and trips to the souk in Agadir, Paradise Valley, and hammam with gommage. The yoga was fantastic, with flowing, dynamic classes in the morning and relaxing, restorative classes after the surfing. It was beautifully thought out over the week, with plenty of variety and the well-equipped yoga shala was magical. Many thanks to Fi, who also does a great Thai massage!"

"We stayed for 10 days at MSC with our 5 year old son. Both us, as our son, had a great and relaxed time; surfing, chilling and playing on the beach and at the surf hostel. The service was very friendly and the surf hostel provided a nice balance between having everything well arranged (need and clean rooms, every day transfers to the beach with all the surf equipment you need + lunch, great dinner and good breakfast) and leaving more then enough autonomy to make your own choices day by day. An extra plus is the beautiful yoga studio on the roof. The yoga classes after a full day of surfing were just perfect. While doing your practices, the sun sets down into the sea; couldn't be better!"

"We stayed in MarocSurfCamp two times. One in May and one in December. Both times we enjoyed our staying a lot! We were surprised a little that weather was even better in December as well as conditions for surfing. Maroc Surf Camp is a good equipped villa, especially for surfing fans there is everything available. The villa is on the hill, so the view is spectacular (facing the ocean). For surfing we visited different spots, depending on the weather conditions. In May when we did sessions in the evenings we walked to the nearest spots (the other times it is arranged trip). By the way there are few nice cafes in front of both spots (one left and one right side). In the evenings we had nice dinners at villa. We visited Agadir rarely, mostly for the market - there are more hotels and we liked authentic Tamraght more. Maria and Mohcine helped us to arrange few trips for us: Paradise Valley with almost everyone from villa participated. I highly recommend: it is lake in small mountains with possibilities to jump from the rocks. We also isited Legzira and Marrakesh. Very enjoyable memories!"

"Perfect location for surfing in Tamraght and Taghazout area. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Surf and yoga instructors skilled and the training personalized to each individuals level. The overall atmosphere of the hotel/villa is homelike and warm. The rooms and common areas are spacious and clean with a beautiful rooftop terrace. I definitely recommend it for people traveling solo as well as couples and groups of friends."

"I visited this place twice, both times in December. It is a great place to relax and take a healthy, sunny break from winter. There is a great atmosphere and staff is super friendly. If you are into yoga, practicing on the rooftop is absolutely a must!"

"If you are the kind of holiday maker who needs tarmac roads leading to walled off areas of sprinkled lawns and poolside service, then this place is not for you. If, however, you are the more adventurous type who genuinely loves life and people who are warm, authentic and caring then check this place out. Maroc Surf Camp is a family run villa with helpful, smiling staff who are always there for you. Our flight was late but supper was there for us on arrival. Throughout the week we ate well and loved the communal 'al fresco' atmosphere around a large table. For the surfers, there is a large selection of boards to suit all types. The wet suits are not the latest, but do the job in sea that was a cozy 19°. Some could do with an upgrade though when I come again I will bring my own suit. The guiding and lessons were better than in the UK and the information was plentiful. I learned so much that week. For yogis, the rooftop space is incredible. Floor to ceiling glass on 3 sides reveal a vista of the coastal horizon. I witnessed amazing sunsets during restorative practice at the end of the day. Jess, our teacher was lovely, and held a calm and meditative space. Would I come again? I would love to, but the world is a big place so who knows. Thank you Maria and the team!"

"It was adorable time here. We lived in one cozy room near stairs. Every beautiful day started with yoga on the roof and the sunrise. The surf camp team is like your family, from magic Khadija to our instructors. It was our first surf time and now we want to repeat it."

"More than a simple hotel, surf camp and yoga retreat, Morocco Surf Camp has proven to be the lodestar, the favored meeting place of a huge, yet ever growing border less family, united by a common open-mindedness, true friendship, respect and love for people - and waves and/or Yoga. The staff is just incredible, made out of priceless persons dedicated to give you the very best of their country. The guides know the country and the sea like the back of their hands, and will no doubt be able to find you a wave even when the rest of the coastline is flat. Not to speak of the owners who, in addition of rocking at surf, are the loveliest people ever!!! To conclude, Morocco Surf Camp is the place to be if you are willing to spend some quality time in Morocco, even more if you are a surfer or a passionate yoga practitioner. By the way, if you go there, send my love to everyone!"
