Studying at Shanti Uganda was an incredibly rewarding life experience and an invaluable training. Learning about prenatal yoga at a birthing center and seeing women laboring naturally and with support, was so encouraging, inspiring, and such a gift. Bobby Bessey, is a master instructor with years of extensive knowledge to pass on; she shares and leads with grace and dignity. Bobby and the other trainees from all over the world made the training made the trip so memorable. I am so grateful for this experience and will always carry it with me. Go to the training with an open heart and mind and you will leave with so much more than you ever expected! - Attended in 2016

Traveling with Shanti Uganda was a life affirming experience. The teacher training has brought me confidence in my learning abilities and skills. The people that I met - from fellow participants, to Shanti staff and volunteers, and locals - all of them have enriched my experience with their life stories. I now have friends in all corners of the world, from Uganda and Rwanda to United States, Australia and Singapore. Every day of my experience was a very genuine discovery of Africa and of myself that brought enhanced awareness of my own life.

Bobby is a fantastic teacher, with great talent in storytelling and knowledge sharing; the stories, experiences and knowledge we shared with all participants were extremely valuable.

Prenatal yoga is something totally new to me. I have never had a child and worked with a few pregnant women in my yoga classes, but Bobby's passion and enthusiasm for helping pregnant women have the best possible birthing experience, coupled with her immense experience and skillful instruction, really opened my eyes to the miracle of childbirth. She dispelled many myths and preconceived assumptions I had and I no longer fear working with pregnant women! So, the most valuable aspect was our instructor!

Not only did I learn how to teach prenatal yoga, but I was also able to learn about midwifery, Ugandan culture, birthing, nutrition, & bead making from various interactions with local women. I felt a real sense of community during the training.

The most valuable aspect of my experience was learning about the culture and the way of life in Uganda. It's such a different experience, and it is neat to step back and look at how differently I live my life here in Canada
