3 Week Certificated Residential Course

The course consists of 150 contact hours. Set in a beautiful location the course provides a safe environment for this full immersion in Shiatsu and Yoga practice and theory. Both Shiatsu and Yoga are profoundly transforming healing modalities which share physical, energetic, and psycho-spiritual dimensions to healing.

On a simple level, both of these healing arts seem to be working mostly on a purely physical level. However, through practice, the energetic, emotional and higher dimensions of the oriental meridian and chakra system can be tuned into and a deeper, truly holistic approach to self-development and healing can be explored.

The shiatsu practitioner course is based on the European Shiatsu Federation, ESF, core curriculum and includes all aspects of Zen shiatsu, TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), anatomy, physiology, and pathology. Students can continue their training with the school, or do this as a one-off. Students may continue their Shiatsu and Yoga training the following year to receive the full Shiatsu diploma and Yoga Teacher certification with Yoga Alliance International.

This first year course is complete in itself and students will receive a Shiatsu Wellness and Acupressure certification with SYM. The course teaches all basic shiatsu techniques in prone, supine, and lateral positions, as well as a comprehensive introduction to the Chinese meridian system, all major acupoints, the basic notions of TCM, and the chakras. The morning yoga class will teach all fundamental asanas (yoga postures), which are profoundly therapeutic, as well as various meditation and breath control techniques. These classes are suitable for beginners and those just looking to deepen their practice in these modalities. Why do students have a dress code?

We like to encourage students to wear positive, happy colors which facilitate learning and energy work. All colors are vibrations or frequencies of light. The therapeutic use of color, Colour Therapy and its association with the chakras will be discussed further during the course.

Both Shiatsu and Yoga are spiritual disciplines and as such there are certain ways we can dress to help our own practice and create more harmony and higher frequency vibrations in the Yoga hall. Colour and sound (mantras, chanting, music) have been used from time immemorial to uplift the spirit and are tools of yoga. For this reason, we encourage students to wear comfortable and plain white, yellow or blue bottoms and T-shirts.
