During your course, you will learn

The art of sequencing and movement

Yoga is dance " T. Krishnamacharya"

In the west people usually, look at yoga as a flow or movement-based "thing". However, in India for 1000s of years, yoga has been practiced with strong static postures. Hatha yogis of timeless Natha or Naga traditions have often been known to just practice one static posture for an entire life. Prathabi Jois himself designed the primary and secondary series of sequence, which is known as "Ashtanga yoga class" in the west. At Agonda Om Yoga Shala (the ashram in Goa), The Yoga Cave initiative aspires to give you the most authentic and blissful experience of classical yoga.

During your course, you will explore how to thread one posture to another posture. The art of moving from one posture to another is known as "Vinyasa". They will teach you the art of Vinyasa and how to thread your postures to create sequences in a way where your practice of yoga becomes like a dance or moving meditation. This art will enable you to formulate your own sequence in a safe and systematic manner.

"Sequential creative movements that interlink postures to form a continuous flow; It creates a “movement meditation" that reveals all forms as being impermanent and for this reason are not held on to” - Gregor Maehale.

Abhyasya Vairagyam

Vairagyam often is referred to as a state of renunciation or detachment that one enters when they participate in intense spiritual austerities like yoga, fasting, and ecstatic dancing. In Patanjali yoga sutra, it has been stated that the key to enter the state of Samadhi through yoga is to experience "Abhayasa Vairagyam".

This is a state of mind that a yogi can enter during the intense practice of yoga. During your course, you will be encouraged to live a holistic lifestyle that will assist you in experiencing abhyasa vairagyam. You will be taught you how to align and connect breath (Ujjayi), and movement to create a practice that will transform your current yoga practice to the next level.

Pranayama and meditation

Every morning your day will start with some form of pranayama, meditation, or Satsang. They will explore all common as well as not so common pranayamas and meditation techniques like Kapalabhati, Ujjayi breath, Nadi Shodhana. You will often chant Sanskrit mantras and om chanting in the morning.

Why chose this course

This course is designed to inspire and transform you, giving you time out from the hustle-bustle of daily city life. If you ever wanted to learn yoga in India then the team resonates with you. All the management and administrative staff who are the building blocks of our school came to India in search of yoga. They travelled all over India and settled here at the Agonda Om Yoga Shala. They have travelled all over India to find these amazing yoga teachers who work with them, they have empowered them to pass this knowledge on to you in a way you can relate to.

From ancient times sages, swamis, seekers, priests saints, and sadhus have been coming to India to experience the divine promise, the nectar of spirituality and a flavor of authentic yoga asana from Indian gurus. Many from here went to the west and took with them the message of yoga to the world. But in today's New India, how do you choose a yoga school that can live up to this divine promise?

Since the time of ancient sages till now, India has transformed into a new India and so has the way yoga is taught today! The Yoga Cave Initiative has chosen Yoga with schools of choice to partner and design this amazing teacher training course. If you are looking for a yoga course that is, unrestricted and taught by some very enthusiastic and energetic Indian yoga teachers then this is the course for you. The venue for this course is away from the mad crowd of Goa, you will experience true Indian hospitality in the land where yoga originated.
