Are you ready for the training of a lifetime? You will spend 13 days in an incomparable Costa Rica setting enjoying this 100-hour training with international teachers, Ron Reid and Marla Meenakshi Joy, where you will experience the scope of internal practices that lie underneath the surface of the physical yoga practice. For practitioners, it is an opportunity to deepen your understanding of the practice. For teachers, this program can be an add on to your 200-hour teacher training course and would be considered an elective as part of your 300-hour advanced yoga teacher training certification.

Vivo Nosara Hotel is a small luxury hotel at the top of the Costa Rican jungle and is an eight-minute ride to one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. It is equipped with an ocean and jungle view rooftop yoga deck. For this thirteen-day training, you have the possibility to choose either single or double rooms.

This is a seven-unit boutique hotel. There is only one room available with single occupancy and four rooms with double occupancy so please specify if you are a couple. You will benefit from completely renovated rooms, new furniture, and a fresh look of the hotel, as well as a swimming pool and a perfect, quiet location up the hill with incredible jungle and ocean views.

Who is this for?

This retreat is for any teacher or practitioner who wants to refine their practice, as well as advance in their practice. This training is for you if you have:

  • A consistent practice of at least three years
  • A desire to hone in and refine your teaching skills
  • A wish to learn about living, practicing, and teaching the eight-limbed yoga path towards cultivating a centered, grounded, and purposeful life
  • An inclination to learn the skills to bring meditative experience and perspective to your own practice, your own teaching, and to enhance the quality of your spiritual practice or how to build up to a more challenging pose in your physical practice
  • An aspiration to bring yoga practice off the mat and awaken the 'living yoga' to transform your life

In Patanjali’s yoga sutra’s, he speaks about eight limbs. The first four are external limbs, while the last four are internal limbs. You are going to cover them all. If you are an existing teacher or someone who is interested in going deeper into the realms of more meditative practices, this training will help you find the skills to bring that experience to your own practice, your own teaching and to enhance the quality of your own sadhana, or spiritual practice, as well as deepen your experience of “asana”, or posture, both on the mat, and off the mat into life itself.

You will be able to refine your personal practice, enjoying daily morning Mysore or Led classes, and diving deeper in yoga Nidra, pranayama, and Restorative practices in the afternoons. Each training day will start with morning Mysore (self-practice) or a Led practice for those learning to cultivate a self-practice. This class is completed with 20-minute pranayama led practice altogether (two hours in total).

Mysore style self-practice

This intensive is for anyone wishing to deepen their practice in a Mysore style setting. You will be learning to develop a self-practice, which creates both disciplines, but also endurance, independence, and freedom.

Led Vinyasa classes and asana lab

  • How to truly deepen and refine your physical and mental awareness around your practice
  • An in-depth look at workshop themes for classes - working your way from simple to more complex poses

Asana lab

Ron Reid will break down each target pose to help you understand which areas you may need to open or strengthen and then how to combine them into a complete whole.The essence of the asana lab is to master the art of practicing and teaching intermediate and advanced arm balances, backbends, and hip openers. By providing anatomical context for your practice, you will be able to access deeper and stronger actions in your bodies that will be both grounding and stabilizing while providing the necessary means to move forward while minimizing the risk that can lead to injury.

Internal practices

In this training, you will learn:

  • Third limb - asana

Self-practice (Mysore) to strengthen self-discipline and inner sensitivity for practice that is strengthening, developmental, and ultimately healing

  • Fourth limb - pranayama

Working with breathing techniques to strengthen the energetic body and prepare you for meditation

  • Fifth limb - pratyahara (sense withdrawal)

Deepening your experience of 'going inward’s with the sublime practice of Yoga Nidra (the yogi’s sleep)

  • Sixth limb - dharana (concentration)

Techniques to bring about concentration as a preparation for meditation practice

  • Seventh limb - dhyana (meditation)

Tools and techniques for cultivating a daily practice of meditation, as well as teaching techniques

  • Eighth limb - samadhi (total integration)

Costa Rica is the perfect environment to dive deep into integrating the mind, body, and spirit and leaves each practitioner transformed by the atmosphere of nature in its purest form

During the free day, you will have the chance to join the Garza beach, palm tree forest, and the incredible sunset beach.

During this training, you will be provided with two meals per day. You will enjoy vegetarian breakfasts and lunches at Vivo's juice bar and try the tasty menu options elaborated by Meghan Pearson herself. Meg is well known as a natural food chef, an intuitive eating educator with a passion for plants, a certified professional plant-based and living foods chef, raw food culinary teacher, and all-around foodie.

Vegan options are possible. Please make sure you will mention it in your dietary restrictions during the registration process. The hotel's juice bar will be available for you until 2:00 p.m. in case you wish for some snacks, smoothies, fresh juices, baked goods, coffee, etc. Four dinners are also included in the training. For the rest of the evenings, you are free to choose from amazing options of restaurants available in Playa Guiones.

Things to do (optional)

During your free time, you may visit Playa Guiones, it is a magical place! In this nearly two-mile-long beach, with white sands and perfect waves; because of governmental regulations, nothing can be built nearby. When you're sunbathing or surfing, it appears as if civilization has left you far behind. The small town located very nearby has some shops, with great places to eat and drink, car rental agencies, pharmacies, etc.

The hotel is located up the hill, an eight-min drive from the beach, and the animated town center in the quiet and peaceful place with the incredible ocean and mountain views, eagles flying by the rooftop yoga deck, and monkeys waking you up in the morning.

Additional activities

Tiana Yoga can also help you organize any additional activity like surfing lessons, tours to the wildlife refuge of Ostional, horseback riding, quad tours, edible tours, local community visit, spa services, etc.
