Immerse yourself in a month-long, residential ashram experience in nature for your 200 hours yoga teacher training (YTT). Situated at the beautiful Wittedrift Manor House, you will be able to live the yogic lifestyle while training to become a yoga teacher. To become an authentic yoga teacher, a deep understanding of the material, as well as an embodied understanding, is necessary. A holistic approach to oneself and lifestyle is important. Held at Wittedrift Manor House in the small little countryside village of Tulbagh, just outside of Cape Town, South Africa. This impressive Cape Dutch Manor will make you feel right at home. There is a sense of familiarity you’ll experience upon arrival - something special that resonates with everyone in the eclectically decorated house.

The picturesque village of Tulbagh is truly magical. It is the fourth oldest town in South Africa, dating back to the early 1700's.

Nestled at the foot of where three mountain ranges meet, it's beauty alone will leave you breathless.There is an abundance of nature and bird life.The space where the teacher training will take place creates the perfect nurturing environment where self-discovery, empowerment and deep healing can be explored. All bedrooms are equipped with high grade cotton linen, towels, en-suite, a fan and a heater. There is also free Wi-Fi access.


In this intensive course you will learn about the philosophy of yoga, its history and how this relates in today’s world, yoga theory, anatomy and physiology, yogic language, class sequencing, chakras and energy centres, the importance of the breath and specific breathing techniques, mindfulness and meditation, as well as many ancient tools for healing and alignment.

Teaching methodology and certification

You will be a certified through the Yoga Teacher Fellowship (YTF), but you don’t have to do this course just to teach yoga. It is a transformational experience which will enrich your life, whether you intend to teach or not. The knowledge and teachings are here to benefit you as a human being and as a yogic practitioner. A Yoga Teacher Training is a life-changing experience!

Theory and practical learning throughout the residential training is accompanied by residential ashram-based yogic lifestyle. Participants are required to attend all sessions for the duration of the training.

Examination: teaching assessment, practical yoga methodology assessment, written assignments, final exam.

Fran Siebrits is the course facilitator and main teacher, guiding your journey along the sacred transformational path of the ancient and modern yogi.

Yogic lifestyle daily schedule

  • 06:00 Wakeup time
  • 06:45 - 07:00 Mantra chanting
  • 07:00 - 08:15 Yoga practice (asana, pranayama, and meditation)
  • 08:30 - 09:00 Breakfast
  • 09:30 - 10:30 Karma yoga (selfless service)
  • 10:30 - 12:30 Theory or practical session I
  • 12:30 - 13:00 Lunch
  • 13:00 - 15:00 Resting time or self-study
  • 15:00 - 16:30 Theory or practical session II
  • 16:30 - 18:00 Yoga practice (asana, pranayama, and meditation)
  • 18:00 - 18:15 Mantra chanting
  • 18:30 - 19:00 Dinner
  • 19:30 - 20:30 Sanskrit training, meditation, group discussions, question and answer sessions, and satsangs

The catering will be done by our in-house chef. All the meals will be and vegetarian. The principles of Ayuredic cooking will be followed. As much as possible, the food will be locally sourced, fresh and wholesome. The yogic diet will be followed throughout the retreat. You will be well nourished will clean food that follows a belief of non-violence (ahimsa) to the environment and living beings.
